It was late afternoon, and the air had grown colder to match the season. During the Summer the sun would still be decently high up, yet with the arrival of Autumn the sun was already sinking into the horizon. Down below, from her perch upon the mountains, Fiala could see a sea of brown, red, orange, and yellow leaves. She wasn't interested in looking at the trees though.

No, Fiala had her mind set on one thing and one thing alone- locating the flower patch. She had gotten horribly lost along the way though. Granted, she knew she was lost, but she had yet to give up on her quest. Unfortunately, each step she took was one step farther from her desired location.

The wind blew suddenly, causing Fiala to shiver from the harsh cold it brought. She stood still for a moment, wrapping her tail around her in an attempt to trap heat between her body and tail. When she had warmed up about half a degree she continued on, not a worry in her mind that she wouldn't find her way eventually.

Jazz trotted swiftly through the forest, looking at the serene patches of sunlight and hearing the gentle albeit chilly breeze blowing, and thinking of all the danger and potential enemies such a place could hide. He was always paranoid like that, but now more than ever, now that he knew Fiala was lost somewhere.
He jumped about a foot in the air when a bird cheeped overhead; he had a momentary flash of bright yellow, a zap of electricity and a burnt smell. Then it was gone and the bird was sitting there looking oddly at the high-strung namir.
He paused and looked aroud, trying to get his bearings. He didn't see any signs of Fiala, but he just had to find her. Perking his ears up as high as they would go, he took a deep breath and yelled. "FIALAAAAA!"

Fiala wandered on, unaware to Jazz's cry. Instead she decided to climb up a little more, thinking that if she was higher up she would be able to see the flower patch, or at least home. Precariously she balanced her paws against the rocky wall, taking each step slowly. She did quite well until a sharp breeze knocked her off-balance. With an impulsive scream, she descended rapidly toward the ground below, landing harshly upon the rock. She hissed with pain for a moment, then rose on her paws again. No broken bones, luckily, but she did have a slight scrape on her side, and no telling how bad of a bruise in that same location. She sat down, debating whether she should risk falling yet again.

Jazz looked slightly downcast as he heard no reply to his hollering, but he was far from giving up. He trotted farther ahead, keeping an eye out for any sign of Fiala; maybe she hadn't heard him, or maybe she was in a place where she couldn't cry out. Either way, he'd find her.
He sudden;y heard a faint sound that reminded him of someone screaming far off. It might have been the wind......but then again.... He increased his pace and dashed toward where he thought the sound had come from. "Fiala!!"

Fiala rose to her feet again, giving up on the idea that going higher up would help her locate home. Instead she wandered toward the edge of the mountain, thinking that she could just descend the mountain without crossing all the paths she took to get up there in the first place. She gasped and instinctively gripped her claws onto the edge when she saw the steep descent. "I guess I can't go down that way." She said, her tone oddly light and unconcerned despite how she truly felt. Though her miss-matched tone seemed to calm her some, and she proceeded down a path, hoping it will lead her home.

Jazz spotted the mountain what seemed a short distance away, and without fully knowing why, he began to make straight for it. Perhaps he thought that if he could climb up it a ways, he might be able to catch a glimpse of Fiala. It was ridiculous; him spotting something so small, but he was beginning to grow more concerned and willing to try anything.

Fiala continued down the path until she came upon a fork. She looked between the options, and chose one. Halfway down the path she sighed. Nothing looked familiar. Could she have picked the wrong path? Or did things just look different in reverse? Not wanting to take a chance she continued down the same path, hopeful that she was going the right way.

Jazz reached the bottom of the mountain and carefully began to walk up the incline, keeping an eye out for Fiala. He tried one time to break into a run, but stopped after slipping on the loose rock and stumbling in the dirt.
When he judged himself to be about halfway up, he found a ledge to stand on and look out over the forest. He drew in his breath and shouted at the top of his voice. "FIALAAAAA!"
He listened to the echo of his shout, and suddenly the earth beneath his paws began to tremble. He watched a few pebbles bounce by him and down the mountain, then he felt a cloud of dust settled in his fur. He turned around adn saw the beginnings of a rockslide heading right for him. His eyes widened and he leaped to his left, landing smack into a scraggly thorn bush, but safely away from the rocks and miniature boulders that rumbled past. He hoped feverishly that Fiala had not been in the path of the rockslide as he untangled himself from the bush, walking away with a few irritating scratches.

Fiala heard a loud cry of her name and smiled, yet that smile was short-lived when saw a part of the ledge she was near crumble and fall. She stood there like a deer in headlights, wondering if she would fall, and, when it became evident that she had avoided it, if Jazz was in the path of the rockslide. She fretted for a few moments, then stopped. "No way would Jazz let a rock slide kill him. He's a hero," she muttered, smiling happily. She looked over the edge for any sign of him, not chancing a call in case there were still some loose rocks.

Stopping to brush more dirt out of his fur and observing a particularly stingy scratch, Jazz walked across the side of the mountain, wondering whether it would be better to focus his gaze more on the mountain itself or the forest below, not even thinking of looking further up the mountain. He gritted his teeth in frustration; at this rate it would take forever to find Fiala! He didn't want to call out again; not only did he think he wouldn't be so lucky with another slide, but his throat felt full of dust from the previous one. His yell probably wouldn't carry very far, and he didn't want to use the energy.
This called for a better plan. He found a spot where a rock protruded from the landscape and made a reasonable amount of shade. He dusted off the shady spot and sat down, eyes half-closed. He just needed some time to think.

Fiala wondered where Jazz was. She was sure he was okay, but would he be able to find her way up here? She walked in a random direction, thinking that it would lead down. If she could get off the mountain everything would be alright.

After waiting patiently for strokes of genius that never came, Jazz finally got back up, growled in frustration and decided that he could use another vantage point. Being careful not to cause another landslide that would carry him further down the mountain, he began to precariously climb up it.
He followed what he hoped was a path; trotting when it became angled, plodding when it became steep, and finally crawling when it became too steep for walking. He looked up and tried to see how far he was from the top, but he wasn't able to tell at the angle he was in.

Fiala wandered along her path, finding that it had decided to wind itself back upwards toward the mountain, leaving a steep incline for those who wish to continue downward. With a pout, she sat down and sighed. Would she ever find the right path?

Jazz finally found himself near the top after what seemed like hours (but was really minutes) of hard strong climbing. Blinking in surprise, he found himself standing among a beautiful miniature meadow literally covered with wildflowers. The scent they gave off would have put any girl into rapture, but Jazz found himself thinking of an overdressed woman squirting perfume right into his face.
Suddenly, a strong wind came down and blew around the meadow, making the flowers bend and causing Jazz to dig his paws into the dirt to keep from being moved back. He watched the flower petals being pulled from some of the flowers and carried off on the wind until they drifted down the mountain like colorful snow.
Suddenly, he had an idea. Jazz began to hurriedly pick bunches of flowers, glad that nobody else could see him doing something as sissy as this, and when teh nexy gust came, he threw them all into the wind and watched them fall. Fiala loved flowers; if she saw them raining down, she might try to find them, and then she would find him.

Fiala blinked as she felt something hit her on the top of her head. Stunned a little, she removed the mysterious object off her head. "A...flower?" She looked around, noticing that there were many flowers floating down. She looked up to find the source of the flower fall. Smiling, her eyes came upon a ledge very near the top. Getting up, she started to try to figure out how to get to that place. She wasn't very strong, so the straightforward was was out of the question, but from where she sat there was a path that appeared to lead toward that area. With the flowers as her guide, she set upon the path, hopeful that the two namrah would be reunited.
