I love horror games, but I am extremely unenthusiastic about this game.
Reading interviews with the creative director, it just seems like he cobbled together ideas from successful horror movies/games, while adding very little other than graphical polish.
On top of the fact that he came off really smug, making catty comments towards the blatant influences of the game, as if his game is the pinacle of horror storytelling.
I dunno, maybe the game will be good, but I keep getting flashbacks to Cold Fear with this.

I dunno, maybe the game will be good, but I keep getting flashbacks to Cold Fear with this. Never read any interviews, just watched the gameplay videos. It's definitely got influences from other games and movies, but it puts it's own unique twist on it and refines it. I love the strategic dismemberment concept, that the headshot is not the end-all be-all to destroy enemies. King of Calhoun Bag of Monster King of Calhoun It looks like ... Resident Evil in space? Exactly. That's dumb. That's like putting Jason in space, and we all know how that turned out. Never watched any of the Jason movies, so I don't have a clue how that turned out. However, I assume it was crap. Regardless, meh. It's really more than just RE4 in space, but I don't care to write full fledged previews of a game... at all. There's videos, there's google, out there. On the internet.

It's Master Chief in Space mixed with Alien/The Thing (movie) themed environments (as well as Event Horizon), and monsters influenced by Silent Hill and The Thing.
Go read the Game Informer issue with Dead Space as the cover story, the lead developer gives you the bullet point list and what he thinks about them (in kind of a snotty way).
The gameplay looks a bit interesting, but let's face it. This is a space themed Resident Evil 4 clone with some additions and a questionable storyline. Gameplay to me, isn't the most important thing in a horror game.
Hell, they changed the combat in Silent Hill Homecoming in an attempt to "fix" the gameplay, and it just made it a big mess.

I don't get the weird spread of review scores.
Eurogamer confirms my suspicions about the title.
A narratively predictable Resident Evil clone that is beautiful and technically polished, but relies heavily on genre conventions.

For a genre known for terrible stories, I would hope it could at least bring something unique to the table in that respect.
