Grumbling, Gareth popped his aching joints as he resettled on the mat. He was teaching that girl again... And he wasn't entirely sure what to do this time. Too bad he couldn't just ignore a plea from on old friend. Though it was slowly getting easier trying....

Reign had managed to schedule her class for when Cassi was in his own classes. She'd still have time after her class to get back before the boy was out. She hoped. She was excited about her class, though. It had been a while since she'd had one. Well, back before she'd been forced to take custody of Cassi... She hadn't practiced much lately and was hoping the teacher wasn't going to be too upset. She was a bit busy....

"You're late." Very. Very. Late. In fact, if Gareth hadn't fallen asleep, he'd have picked up and left by now. "Warm up." the man said curtly as he slowly picked himself up from the floor, not letting any of the pain he felt show.

"Sorry... it's a long drive from my house..." And she hadn't been to the musaeum enough lately to have realized just how long of a drive. The chimp girl nodded and picked a spot on the floor to sit and start stretching. Oh, she could feel just how out of shape she was! She needed to practice more often...

"Hn," the man grunted at her excuse. The older man began to stretch out along with the strange girl. As they finished he looked over at her. "Well. Show me what you remember."

Just about the time she was finally getting limbered up, the teacher asked her to show him what all she remembered. She glanced towards the case she'd brought with her daggers in it. He probably wanted her to use those... right? She glanced back at him for confirmation.

He raised his eyebrows back at the girl. "Well?"

Reign took that as a yes. She quickly grabbed the daggers and made her way back to the man. She didn't want to tick him off anymore than he already was... She had been late, after all. Was her own fault...
"Okay." She raised her hands into the ready position.

Gareth barely restrained himself from rolling his eyes. "Begin already," he snapped.

Reign gave a bit of a start. Well, okay. She started out with a right jab, leading into a left swing. After a few awkward movements, the thrusts seemed to come more naturally as Reign recalled what she'd learned.

The man stayed back for a bit, watching and letting Reign get back in. All of a sudden he grabbed a pole from behind him and went to jab her in the stomach.

Reign jumped back, startled. She hadn't been expecting him to jump in so suddenly and especially not expecting him to try a jab with a stick!

The man extended farther, hitting Reign when she didn't block and only moved back. "Tch. Horrible," he pronounced as he swung the other end towards her opposite shoulder.

Reign frowned at the man, reaching up to block the staff this time with one of her daggers. She pushed it away from her body and went on the attack, slashing at her teacher with her other hand.

The far side slid away easily, the old man letting her push the staff away with her blade. The other arm came up, meeting Reign's dagger below the wrist and with a tear of fabric slid it down and out from his body. Underneath the torn fabric was a metal bracer, now with a scratch following the path of the dagger.
