An element, as understood within the Forest, can be a wide variety of things:
Basic Elements (ex. Fire, Water, etc.)
Secondary Elements (ex. Wood, Steel, etc.)
Emotions (ex. Sorrow, Happiness, etc.)
Abstract Ideas (ex. Growth, Misunderstanding, etc.)
Tangible Items (ex. Mirror, Fan, etc.)
Intangible Items (ex. Sound, etc.)
There may be only one Elemental reigning over a single element. Each element has its strengths and weaknesses, which transfer to the Elemental after re-birth and give that Kylandrei control over those particular powers.

1. An Elemental is created when an existing Kylandrei chooses to 'look within themselves' to find power. Only Kylan already in existence may begin an elemental quest.
2. When choosing an element, please check the Existing Elementals thread to assure the element has not already been done.
3. Every person may own only one Elemental. When choosing a Kylan to take the quest, choose wisely.
4. Adults or cubs are eligible for the elemental quest. However, cubs who become Elementals also become perma-cubs and will never grow.
To start a quest, PM the following form to Kylandrei Forest with the title 'Elemental Quest.'

Elemental quests take place within the world of a Kylandrei's heart. The only existing Kylan able to unlock this hidden world thus far is the Elemental of Growth, Misaki.
When a Kylandrei wishes to find strength within themselves, Misaki senses it and comes to their aid. She acts as guide and guardian, one of the few creatures who can exist as a REAL being in a heart world belonging to another Kylan.
Every heart world Misaki unlocks looks the same, consisting of a huge mountain surrounded by endless trees. Questers will always start out on one side of the mountain. In order to finish the quest and achieve Elemental status, the quester must reach the sealed cave in the base of the other side of the mountain. How the cave is reached (by climbing over the mountain, going around the mountain, etc.) is completely up to the quester.
Obstacles in the quester's way can range from forest creatures to other Kylandrei (who are actually little more than a manifestation of memory). The only true obstacle in the heart world is oneself.

A quest consists of at least 30 separate posts before the final stage of the quest can be reached. Each post must contain at least seven sentences (a basic paragraph). Only one post per day is actually counted towards the final total, which means quests will take a minimum of 30 days to complete. Additional posts beyond the necessary 30 are optional and up to the quester.
The way a quest is taken is completely up to the user. You may explain how your Kylandrei finds their way through the strange world that is their own heart, show them getting into fights with unpleasant memories manifested as something physical, the quester doubting themself, etc. It is completely open-ended. Be creative! However, if you feel something you want to do may be overstepping some sort of boundary, feel free to ask about it.

When the quest is first started, Misaki will leave the Kylandrei in their heart world with nothing more than an explaination of what they must do before she vanishes.
If at any time during the quest you find yourself lacking inspiration and unsure of what to do next, just PM the Kylandrei Forest mule requesting assistance. Misaki will then come to the quester's aid, providing guidance in the form of an RP post or two.

There are two ways of 'finishing' a quest. The first is forfeit. A Kylandrei who gives up will be removed from their heart world by Misaki and their memory of the event will be erased. Thus, if they decide to quest another day, they must start from the beginning. The second is completion. In order to complete a quest and become and Elemental, goals must be met:
1. At least 30 posts consisting of seven sentences or more over 30 separate days.
2. The Kylan must have found the sealed cave.
Once your Kylandrei finds the sealed cave, send a PM to Kylandrei Forest to let us know. Misaki will then appear again and teach the quester how to unseal the cave. When the quester steps inside, they will find the Pure Dew of the spring fairy, which has been colored and empowered with their chosen element. By absorbing the pure dew, the quester becomes an Elemental and may then release themselves from their heart world. The quest is over!

Upon completing their quest, the Kylandrei will receive special edits (chosen by Sae) which reflect their specific element. However, creative freedom is a large part of this open-ended quest! If your Kylandrei finds a beautiful piece of jewelry in their heart world, it will be added. If your Kylandrei gets into a fight with a memory Kylan and receives a deep enough injury, they may get a scar. Just remember the limitations of the lineart while RPing. If a cub gets a scar over their right eye, it won't be seen! Likewise, this is opposite for adults. A scar over the left eye would not be seen.
But please, be realistic with what you want. Your Kylandrei won't be finding full sets of clothing or anything of the like.
