I happen to be taking a Political Science class this year, without realizing I had done so in the middle of an election year. It's been a pretty interesting class, but at the same time, I feel terribly afraid for the state of the United States.

Anywho! :] Politic talk-time!

Are you a Sarah Palin fan? Or does she irrate you to no end?

What do you think about McCain's battle ideas for Iraq?

What do you think about Obama? America ready for a black president? Should race play any part in an election?

Is McCain too old to run for president?

What do you think of Obama's running mate?

Are you a democrat? Or a republican? Or do you lean a little bit to one party than another, but don't consider yourself strong in either party? Or are you an independent?! Gasp!

What do you think about abortion? Stem-cell research? Gay-rights? The falling US economy? Increases taxes?

Do you think that political parties have become too strong? That the United States has become almost completely polarized into being Republican or Democrat?

Discuss. :]

Hey,
I'm probably not exactly up on all the stuff to do with this being from Canada and all, though we are having our election on Tuesday. We'll see how that goes and who becomes our Prime Minister.

In the way of American Politics,
I can't say I'm know all that much about Sarah Palin's political aspirations. I'm not 100% sure why but I don't really believe she has enough experience to do the job properly and some of her stances on certain subjects differ from my own. Also, they don't really seem to deal with the issues a lot with her. More about her personal life and beliefs, which I though was odd. Like she was a celebrity and not a candidate.

I do like Obama, I think he has some good plans. I think race will play a part in certain states but you also have to account for who his running mate is as well. His running mate has seen very little limelight but he is portrayed as a blue collar working, the John Everyman one might say.

McCain wise, he doesn't seem too old in my opinion to be a candidate. If the pope can be 90 or so and be fine as a leader, why can't a president be a little older and have more experience. That said, I don't know much about his battle plans or much else to do with him. Only the commercials I've seen and some magazine articles.

Of course, I'm neither republican, nor democrat...nor independent. I'm Canadian. I'll let you know who wins ours though, Dion or Harper, since I'm going with one of them as likely to win and not NDP, Green, Bloc, etc, but who knows.

I know nothing in the way of canadian politics, except that you guys don't follow one law of political science based on Canada's voting patterns. Canada and India both are the exceptions. Funny how two countries that have very little to nothing in common with socio-economics, education, or government even share the same political outcome with elections. Many a paper have been written about it. It's pretty nifty. biggrin
