My father found a book store near his house that sells used books. Well I am making a list of books that I would like. Well if you could name an old steamy book please mention it. Thank you looking forward to all of the suggestions.

Some people may have my head unbolted for typing this, but try wiki first. Under the steampunk category it roughly explains how the genre started, and lists the very first "founding" authors, many of which I love.

That was the first thing I did because there was a title I couldn't remember.

Maybe I know what you're thinking of. Do you remember anything about the author's name, or what was generally going on?

I already got it I figured I would add more steamy books to the list but i don't think there are much out there.

Just go into the Sci-Fi section.

I was recently in Barnes & Nobles and I noticed that, when I entered the Sci-Fi section, most of the books were steampunk based.

I don't know that old books ever endeavored to be particularly steamy, so I'd have no idea what to suggest. But in the way of old, I guess you can't go wrong with Verne.

Rulin' ya universes...
Old classics are always best! Most of them aren't really steampunk but really lovely smile Favourites are H.G Wells, Alexandre Dumas, Oscar Wilde, Jules Verne and H.P Lovecraft.
Aside from the actual content of the books, looking for old-fashioned hardcover editions with gilt lettering etcetera is great... they look so much nicer in your shelf smile
...since 1992.

I'd go for 'The Difference Engine' by William Gibson. Its one of the few books I've read that is just 'steampunk' pure and simple. Also its a great sourse of Victorian gutter slang!

Another good choice would be the 'Flashman' series of books byGeprge Macdonald Fraser.
Not really steampunk but they are a great and fun way of getting to grips with the history and attitudes of the 1800s. Very atmospheric and so well written and researched.

Also be sure to look at the books list on Brass goggles for more recomendations:
