Charecter Creation
-Level 15
-32 point buy for stats
-Standard 15th-level charecter wealth
-Races: Any from available sourcebooks, along with any templates that do not intrinsically violate tournament rules (ex. no incorporeal charecters, such as ghosts)
-Classes: Any from available sourcebooks, with any presige class (if any). However, multiclassing penalties DO APPLY (see next bullet).
-Experience Points: All charecter start with a number of experience points necessary to put them at exactly 15th level (105,000 if my math is right). Players' decisions during charecter creation may change this total. Multiclassing penalties must be calculated normally if they exist (thus dropping your level). Additionally, at a players discretion, they may use as many experience points as they wish for crafting their own magical gear, but they cannot drop below 14th level to achieve this (14,000 exp for charecter without multiclassing, less for those that do). Due to balance issues, buying off level adjustment will NOT be allowed.
-Equipment: All charecters have a cap of 1/4 their total gold to be used on a single item (you cannot spend more than 1/4 your money on a single item, although you can buy multiple items underneath this amount). All charecters are allowed to purchase one intelligent magical item, subject to DM (me) approval, that follows the specific guidelines laid out in the DMG 3.5.
Soucebooks: The Core set, the Complete series, the Race series, Players Handbook II, the Draconomicon, and Dragon Magic; flaws and traits are also allowed.
Tournament Rules
Due to the relatively high level of this tournament, certain rules must be laid down to ensure that these contests remain fair, and do not allow for loophole victories.
-All battles will take place at the River Crossing map.
-All battles will be to the death; no quarter is allowed. Charecters will be brought back to life (or unlife, in the case of undead) with no penalty for secondary battles.
-All battles take place in an enclosed environment and is illumitated in bright light.
-If a player does not respond to their opponent's post within a week's time, that player will be disqualified (unless I am notified ahead of time that the player will be unable to post for that time due to the complications of Real Life, which always takes precidence).
-Expendable items (such as potions and scrolls) are renewed at the start of each battle. However, these items cost 5x their given price. The exeption to this is that wand and staves cost their original, given price, but only have 10 charges per battle.
-Once a batle has begun, a charecter cannot leave the arena. Because of this, no charecter will be allowed to plane shift, go etheral, enter the audience, or otherwise leave the arena grounds on penalty of immediate disqualification. Although teleportation spells technically allow travel via the astral plane, teleportation spells and abilities are legal. Forcing a charecter to leave the arena against their will will not result in a disqualification, and is prohibited (for example, by combining a bag of holding with a portable hole. Knowlingly using of these tactics against an opponent will result in disqualification).
-Flying is legal horizontally, but you cannot fly upwards.
-Burrowing is illegal.
-A charecter starts a battle with no buffs on them, unless granted inherantly through race, class, equipment, or a permanancied spell.
-The following spells and anything that duplicates these spells abilities are prohibited exept where noted:
1) Polymorph (Wild Shape allowed; new polymorph subschool spells allowed)
2) Alter Self (Wild Shape allowed)
3) Wish
4) Limited Wish
5) Miracle
6) Greater Invisibility
7) Save or Die spells including, but not limited to, Circle of Death, Finger of Death, Implosion, and Phantasmal Killer.
cool Vorpal Weapons
9) Greater Metamorphosis
10) Metamorphosis
11) Polymorph any object
12) Ray of Stupidity
13) Reality vision
14) Shapechange
15) Wraithstrike
-Additionally, the following items are also prohibited:
1) Legacy Items
2) Relics
3) Set items
4) Futuristic, renesance, oriental, etc weapons. Only core-base weapons please.
Finally people, please, no Pun-puns need apply.
I understand that this is a lot of rules, but I feel that to run a tournament of this caliber, it is necessary. Applications for charecter sheets are now open. Please post in the assigned forum. Registration for charecters will close in three weeks time on the 30th of october, 9:00pm Eastern Time. The Tournament will beging on the 1st of November. Please let me know if I am missing anything. I will update this post regularily as needed.
