I get tired of Nintendo's cheap tricks to earn a quick buck. Their main gimmick is to take an old product and make it .5% better.
Gameboy: Make it smaller > Gameboy Pocket: Add color > Gameboy Color > Add size of both power and game carts ( finally ): Gameboy Advanced > Add a battery and light ( finally ) > Gameboy Advanced SP: Do just about nothing > Gameboy Micro. | Nintendo DS: Add a brighter light ( pointless ) > DS lite: add a camera and .acc player > DSi
Almost every generation can be noted with one small detail change, a change that PROBABLY could have been done a long time ago, especially with the battery and light problems in the older versions; it wasn't exactly nuclear physics to add them.
And now we enter the time of the new and mediocre: Nintendo DSi.
- It gives you a camera that's weaker than a camera phone. .3 Megapixels. My Juke is a 2 megapixels.
- An internet explorer. Remember, the Wii's was terrible, why would the DSi's be any better? Also, the DS already had an add-on for this.
- And an .acc player. A format which I don't think I've ever seen before. It's more powerful than your standard mp3.
- A .25 inch bigger screen. Woo.
The cons?
- Weaker battery life. A LOT weaker.
- Lose your GBA backwards compatibility. You're losing hundreds of games to play about 20.
I really hate to meet the person willing to shovel out 150 dollars for a new handheld with such primitive features. And it's just another GB generation for Nintendo to make more money using DS technology.

I think Nintendo's trying too hard to integrate it into everyday life, and thus making it too impractical for gamer life.
Sure it might be convenient for the soccer mom to have this s**t all rolled into one, but at the expense of people who actually use the DS to play games? Eh...
Or maybe not. I dunno.

I still think that they were trying to compete against the PSP with features, for those who care about those additional features. Sure, it can be looked at as a stab in the back at first investors of a new handheld that Nintendo would release, but it's not as bad as SquareEnix releasing International or other better versions of a game they've released before. ._.
But aside from those first investors who end up with one that they may not be satisfied with still gets to choose what model they want to get. If Nintendo wants to spend their money on a newer model of a similar handheld, then... ._. Meh.

Oh. Hi Neo.
Personally, I think they are currently testing the non-gamer market for well..... more money. And it's not only non-gamers. It's the it geeks who like upgrades, even if it's pointless.

So the question is, whose using their handheld with pointless upgrades to milk more money, Nintendo or Sony? PSP has a ton of different versions now in hardware, and they're coming out with a new one soon. I think the new one has a better backlight in it so the picture is brighter.

New PSP has brighter picture and higher definition... it has a better backlight and some minimal changes in the buttons. I thin it has more RAM but I'm not sure.

Are you sure it has higher definition? The one I have is already 16:10 which is, as far as I can tell, the best in terms of widescreen/high def category... Not counting specific resolutions, of course.

The new(er) PSP's have higher RAM and better battery power.
Sony actually TRIES to make a difference with their new PSP's, unlike Nintendo which just comes up with a ******** Camera and a couple other useless features.

http://www.qj.net/Comparison-photo-PSP-slim-screen-versus-PSP-3000-screen/pg/49/aid/123348
that shows the difference in pictures between Slim and 3000 series. It also has a microphone.

For me, it's not enough (to either DSi or PSP 3000) to warrent it's purchase. My DS Lite and PSP Slim are more than capable since I doubt there will be DSi/3000-only games.

I can live with my DS Lite for now. I can't believe they took away the GBA slot off of the DSi.
