After seeing the boy's reaction to the turtle that Eva's older friend had wanted to take home from the aquarium, Freize decided he really needed to take the little 'roo out to see some of the animals up close. The only animals he ever saw were the ones running around their household, and most of them were all but normal. It made it difficult to explain NORMAL animals... And books were okay, but Freize preffered giving him a visual.
So here the two were, at the zoo.
The two had just come in minutes before, and Eva was perched up on his Da's shoulder, licking happily at a cherry flavored ice cream treat he had been given. Thank Ajani for finding this one out. Freize had already completely devoured his own cone, so now the two were just heading for the directory... Which exhibit to go to first? Eva began to bounce slightly from a mix of sugar and excitement.

"Karoko, happy time is now!" Noyama insisted, but her response was the same as before. Absolutely nothing. The Eden simply remained like a statue on the bench--unmoving, her eyes downcast. As she always did, she looked guilty. However, this time she felt it, too. Was she the reason Mommy hadn't come back yet?
"We're going over here!" One of Noyama's 'daughters' called from the distance, and before she could even answer they were out of hearing range. The fox demon sighed, her eyes focusing on the small toddler. If there was only something that would cheer her up! Little did she know that something would come in the form of a someone.
It was merely chance Karoko happened to glance up at that second, just in time to spot a certain guardian with a certain boy who she certainly recognized! She didn't know why, but seeing him here surprised her. "Eva?" Luckily, the area wasn't very crowded for the moment, so her tiny voice that would've normally been drowned out could still be heard.

What was that? The little squirt perked up, glancing about curiously at the sound of his name... Did he just hear something? His eyes finally came to fall on Karoko, and a smile instantly broke out on his face. The boy lifted his free hand, waving eagerly at the girl before trying to dismount his Da so as to go say hello to his friend.
Freize froze as he felt the boy trying to climb down single-handed, "Hey, what're you doing Eva?" The little guy didn't respond, he just hopped down the rest of the way, landing on his feet. He hurried to the bat-girl merrily, beaming all the way. Maybe they could have some fun at this zoo place thingy! Especially now that he had a friend. His ice cream was now forgotten.
He stopped infront of her, huffing a bit before waving again. His Da came along behind him at a slow pace- as long as the boy was in sight then he wasn't worried.

"Didn't know you were here," Karoko said, blinking. Her silence in her earlier-er-months had made it come as quite a shock when she finally did speak and revealed herself quite an impressive talker when it came to things like sentence structure. Lockee had always yelled at her for speaking wrong, which probably contributed partialy. The other half was constantly thinking if she spoke correctly Noharu would come back sooner, and when she did, she'd be proud for once.
This was the first time in a long time she wasn't thinking of her guardian. Her interest was in her friend now, who apparently still wasn't talking. She wondered if he couldn't or didn't want to. Honestly, it didn't matter to her aside from sheer curiousity. Quiet people were better, anyway. "Not talking?"

The boy just smiled and offered a look that seemed to say "same here". While she grew better at talking, he had grown better at getting across messages through body language and expressions. He still wasn't talking, though... His tail began to sway behind him idly, the excitement and sugar mixing together inside of him. And now his friend, which meant promise of fun! Perfect. He kept calm though; he remembered how she had been scared of him at first. He didn't want to scare her.
He frowned a bit as she mentioned him not talking, ears drooping down now. He pressed his lips into a thin line and looked at her with a sort of embarassed expression, which meant to get across that he didn't know how. He still made no noise, and he still didn't talk... Although Eva really and truly wanted to learn.

She'd expected as much. However, she didn't seem bothered by it. In fact, the girl shrugged then nodded, which could have easily come off as confusing had she not spoken as well. "It's okay," she assured him, her expression nervous as always but her tone convincing enough. "This is your Daddy?" Even asking she didn't so much as glance at Freize. He was a stranger--strangers were scarey. "Can he say your name?" Fuzzy Face just didn't seem right anymore.
"Noyama," Karoko said, motioning to the teenager by her. Said teenager had been temporarily stunned into silence. She'd had Karoko for quite a while, and she hadn't said so much in all that time put together! When she finally got over the shock, she nodded politely and smiled. "She's my aunt," Karoko explained.

The 'roo cheered as soon as he found she was alright with it, seeming a bit curious as to her nervousness, just not quite used to such skiddish people as of yet... But he didn't let it bother him- she sounded fine enough, and was talking to him, so everything must be okay! He nodded at the mention of his Da, head turning so that he could get a glance of the older male, waving him down. The weremutt picked up his pace.
Without a second thought the boy was sitting on his knees on the ground, flashing one of his little grins up at Noyama- his greeting. Strangers were funny, but not scary to him. He liked people, after all! Freize kneeled beside his joey, "Hey Eva, what's..." He looked towards the girl curiously- oh, an Eden.. "Oh, hello... A friend of Eva's?" He gave a soft smile. The little guy nodded merrily.

"Eva," The Eden repeated carefully, as if she might mess up in saying the name and forever ruin it. Such a paranoid girl. Noyama was just glad she was talking, though, and stood in silence, observing but saying nothing. "That's a good name." You might have thought her one to lie, being so nervous and all, but Karoko said only what she meant and meant what she said.
"Eva is my frrriend," Karoko confirmed without hesitation, looking almost directly at Freize. For some reason she seemed determine to leave no doubt the two were on good terms with each other. Not surprisingly, her attention didn't stay on the guardian long. "Zoo is a good place," she said to Eva, glancing around. "There are bats here."
She didn't know what animal he was, but she wondered if they were here as well...

Eva seemed actually fairly pleased after she said his name, tail swishing back and forth along the ground behind him.. He noticed how he couldn't lift his up like Teagan's, and thought that was wierd, especially because their tails were so alike.. Oh well, back to Karoko. The boy nodded along once again as she said he was her friend, just happy to have a friend along with him at the zoo.
His ears perked slightly, brows raising. Bats..? Oh, weren't those the things Da had showed him in that mammal book? The ones with wings like Karoko? Since he was a kangaroo, Karoko must be a bat! He handed over his ice cream to Freize, focusing entirely on the other Eden for now, and once again he was nodding. The zoo was a good place. They should go look at the animals together! The little squirt offered his hand and took on a look that seemed to say "show me?" He wanted to see the bats! It seemed like she had already seen them.. Of course, she didn't have to take his hand. He wouldn't be hurt- it was more just habit by now. When going somewhere with a friend you should hold their hand or something.

She was curious to know what animal he was. The easy solution would've been to ask his guardian, but what fun was that? Friends should learn things about their friends from their friends! Even if said friends couldn't speak yet...
"I'll show you," she offered, brushing off her dress before she reached out to take his hand. White was an annoying color to wear--it always got dirt and stuff on it! Remembering well where the bats had been, she dodged the people in the small crowd to reach their destination. She was sure both guardians would follow them closely.
The bats were located in a big, interesting building. Karoko forget what the real name was. It was dark inside, because all the animals liked to be awake at night--including bats. "See?" The tiny toddler questioned, stopping infront of a large exhibit and pointing up at the bats hanging upside down inside. "Bats."

The boy trudged along behind her, excited at the idea of seeing the animal that Karoko might be... Up close, anyways. Da said that sometimes they flew up and over their house at night during the summer or something, but he never could see any.. He would have to try again from a higher place.
The boy blinked as they entered the dark building- what kinda building was DARK on the inside? He decided it was neat, and smiled to himself as he continued following his friend.. He looked over the exhibit before up towhere she pointed- he and his Da had just arrived, so he hadn't gotten to see an animal exhibit as of yet. This was his first, and his first time at the zoo. Then he looked up, and oogled at the bats.. Woow... He tugged the girl's hand gently and then pointed up curiously to make sure that was what she was, his expression curious.
After any sort of answer he would smile brightly and then look back, not surprised to see Freize standing there, curious expression back. Were his animals here? "I dunno, Eva... Kangaroos are only at certain zoos.. I could check." He checked a map and the little 'roo brightened before looking back up at the bats.

"Yes, bat," Karoko answered, pointing at them. "Like me." So Eva was a kanga...kanga...kanga-something. When she was older she was sure she'd be able to say the word correctly out loud as well as in her mind. Only certain zoos had them? There were bats all over! "Eva must be special," she commented cheerfully. "Not many of Eva."
And, really, bats were kind of scary. Always hiding in dark places and stuff--who would want to do that?!

Bat. Batbatbat. Eva had to remember that always and forever, or else one day he might forget and then Karoko might get upset because he did. He didn't want anyone upset with him.. The boy smiled at the girl's conclusion to the lack of kangaroos, almost a bit sheepish, ears coming to a full perk. Really? Was he special...? But Karoko was like the neat bats! She was special too, 'cause he hadn't seen anyone like her before. He would have said so if he could.
"Tree kangaroos live only in a certain place in the wild, so it's harder to get them..." Freize smiled slightly, "I think he's special, anyways." His finger moved over the map thoughtfully, searching the types of animals... "Look at that... They've got a tree kangaroo. Not the right type, but a tree kangaroo." He looked at the kids over the map.

Tree, hm? Different from Eva, but almost the same. "Vampirrre bat," she explained, pointing at the cage behind them. The small containers of blood provided for them at the bottom only supported that theory. "Liv..ingstone," she continued, pointing to herself. She'd seen bats before, but the kind she supposedly was. Because they were 'endangered' and hard to catch.
"We should go see them." As if seeking approval, she eyed Noyama who nodded thoughtlessly, occupied glancing over one of the other nocturnal animals. This would be fun! Even if the kangaroo wasn't exactly like Eva.

The boy nodded slightly, listening carefully. So carefully it made Freize wish that Eva listened to him. The 'roo then smiled and nodded once more- Livingstonelivingstonelivingstone... Li-vi-ng-st-on-e. He had to remember. He looked to the vampire bats again, watching them curiously for a moment or so.
"Eva's a Goodfellow's." The guardian piped up before tucking away the map and giving a wary look to any people around them. "Alright... Let's go." He then turned and headed off and out of the building towards where the tree kangaroos were supposed to be.. He wondered why there were Matschie's tree kangaroos but not Goodfellow's... Strange, but he let it go.
The boy smiled cheerily to the girl and then began trotting after his caretaker, still holding onto her hand. This would be fun! He had never seen one'a what he was before!
