Well...
My school's band is playing Amazing Grace. It's important to me because that was played at my grandpa's funeral..

But it isn't for him. Its for our winter concert.

One of the songs from my first marching show has special meaning, because it is what I associated a lot of good memories with that year. I still love that song. I don't know if I've had any others though.

2 years ago. Palladio for our marching band show actually. It was for a dimond commercial when it was writen. So we were hinting to our Band director's boyfriend to pop the question. wink

well..
we played:

Universal Judgement
Christmas Festival
Meditations on a Winter's Night (my BD's dad's former student wrote this song in commemoration of him, since my BD's dad was an amazing BD)
Echo Never Fades

We played these and other songs I can't remember at the Leo Henning Tribute Concert. It was an amazing concert in order of my band director's father, Leo Henning (obv xd ). I was one of few juniors and seniors selected to play in the concert, since it mainly consisted of alumni (not to brag) but it was amazing. Probably the most amazing concert I've ever played in.

The Rite of Spring (Stravinsky) and Children's March (Grainger) are songs I hold close to me as a band nerd. Rite of Spring because it was the first marching show I ever played, and Children's March because it was the first song I loved playing in first band.

One absolute masterpiece in my opinion was Vesuvius by Frank Ticheli. That was truly a fun song to play for our district concert. Of course, we had a few miscommunications between the band director, and the tubas when they came in too early, and so did a gong crash.

Into the Raging River by Steven Reineke

I played it at 8th Grade and somehow it's the song that I can never forget.
I was obsessed with it so much that I actually made a small comic for it, lol.

That and I play in front of my grandmothers memorial day every year.

I hink all grandpas have that played at their funeral, or liked it. Our euph.player is playing it at his grandpas funeral, we are playing it in band, and it was my grandpa and dad's favorite song. He refused to go to my first 8th grade concert because we were playing it and he didn't want to start crying in front of everyone. My grandpa died of lung cancer from smoking when I was in elementary school. he loved hte song so much. The only thing I rember about him was him playing it on his bassoon everytime we went over. Until he got too weak to play though. Not from the cancer. He was 100 years old. After a while we were unable to see him. My dad didn't take us too the funeral, because we didn't completely understand and would have gotten bored. I miss him now though...
