Lately, it seemed that Ilori's whole band had been in a wandering spirit. He'd found himself in the unlikely position of the wandering leader, since he had done so very much of it as a teenager up until right before "king" Bowser announced he would like to see the kingdom.
Sigh, and he had just started getting comfortable settling down and getting used to the idea of being an old, grumpy hermit the rest of his life. But, no, even Grinch had followed along, lured in by the amusement of watching Bowser blunder along.
Still, bordering content to be stuck with them or not, there were times that listening Bowser crash around anymore, or hearing yet another of Grinch's snide remarks, or having that Phoenix Shelley show up unexpectedly yet AGAIN despite having tried pawning him off on some other lioness, and constantly sending him back to her were all just too much.
He had to get out of the testosterone-old-grouch-filled air. So today he was out in the grasslands by himself, and quite enjoying the moment of solitude. He was lulled out in an open spot, tummy facing upwards, and a look that just eluded contentment and general abandonment of caution.

Alex Zander sighed through her nose as she looked around. A small sneer was on her face for a moment. Her brother always seemed to do things like that to her. She didn't know why though. He just did. Something about him. She sighed trying to shrug off the idea.
She flipped her braid behind her, getting it out of her way, then continueded to walk. She shifted sands under her feet as she walked, a gift like her father. She looked up and the sand stopped, maybe she was seeing something, but was some one in her favorite spot?
She blinked a few times then made a small face before crouching foreward. Her body dropping, her stomach on the ground as she started to slink foreward through the grass. He was alot bigger than her. She flicked her large tail feather behind her before puffing out her chest.
"Who are you?"
She demanded, standing about three feet away from him remembering her mother telling her to be careful about approching other lions, and even more ones that were bigger than her. She tried to be as brave as she could with her chest all puffed out and standing up straight, but she was ready to run in about a split second.

OOC: WOW, Yin-bug, congrats, you just found a font color that I can't read at ALL, even when I make my page so big it's stretching to like twice the size. *ahem*
Ilori was the picture of a lion paying absolutely no attention, but his ears did flick back a little when the cub came around close, right before she spoke. Well, she was a good one at being quiet!
He rolled over and looked to the speaker, his eyes lighting up in an amused smile. For all the bravado in her voice and stance, he could read between the lines. It was a trick he'd never picked up on before, but was now beginning to develop. Cubs were easier to read than adults. He looked beyond her a moment to see if there was anyone visibly around, then let out a small puff of air at the fact there wasn't. What was with it with all of these lone females and cubs? The death toll of the Pride Lands had to be outrageous high for the sake of foolish independence.
At least this cub seemed to have some survival instincts about her, very much unlike most he'd encountered.
"Well, that's not a very kind way to address a new lion. What if I was in a bad mood and you made it worse, or if I was easily frightened and decided to defend myself? You're awfully small, I'd easily overtake you. What if I was really sensitive and you made me cry?" He rolled back, head intentionally turned away from her, "Try again."
He wasn't dismissing the little thing at all, but was trying to find a calm way to reprimand her without going over the top as he usually did. His tone of voice was more along the lines of trying to reason with her, and then strengthened to amusement in his last two words when he decided to play his game and turn away.
It was another trick he was learning by watching between Bowser and Grinch. He saw Bowser's over-enthusiasm, and where it tended to land him, and he saw Grinch's ever-so-calm demeanor and was constantly amazed how he somehow always seemed to negotiate to have things done more or less his way. He didn't like how cold and uncaring Grinch could be, but Ilori knew there had to be a middle somewhere. Before now, he'd always had bad luck interacting with other lions. A new tactic would be fun to try---who better to try it on than some random cub?

[[Sorry. I'mm change it for you for now. XD]]
Her ears perked up as she watched him move then turn toward her. To a point it was a slight surprise to her. She watched him cafefully then growled out of the back of her throat still trying to make herself seem bigger than she was, more threatening.
Alex made a face at his comments. She stiffened up a bit she never seen some one act like that to her. To a point it rememinded her of her brother. She growled with a seen. "Well apparently your not crying." She murmured to herself then looked at him and rolled her eyes.
She swollowed her pride then sighed through her nose. "Hello Mr. Who are you?" She said inbetween a sneer. Her mind else where. She wasn't i the mood for this to a point, her normally sweet self was on vacation just for the moment.

((Thankees ma'am!))
Ack! She was trying to behave as if she was a fierce lioness! Sure, maybe one day, but why was it that cubs and teenagers always seemed to insist they were bigger and better than they actually were? It was something he had started to do as a teenager as well and now regretted. Now that he was older and wiser, Ilori found it both sad and amusing to see out of other cubs.
Ilori turned back around with a half-smile on his face for her response. Again, his eyes scanned passed the cub for a moment, eyebrows furrowing a little. Instead of asking the question on his mind, his eyes went back to the cub, "It's nice out this way, anyone who would call this home is lucky. I am Ilori. Who might you be?"
It was a way of asking his question without actually doing so. Was she alone?

Alex Zander couldn't help but to watch him with a pout on her face. She couldn't belive it, why wasn't he scared? She was doing everything she seen some of the bigger lions do. Why wasn't it working? She growled in the back of her throat for a moment, teling herself to stop pouting and make herself look more 'scary' once more.
She flicked her tail behind her. "I live around here with my mom and other family." She shrugged, she loved this area but there wasn't that many other cubs around, it made her a little sad not to have many other playmates but she normally shrugged it off.
"My name is Alex Zander. Whats it to you?" She growled slightly as she eyed him.

Ah, good! There was a family around. They were probably within squealing distance, at least.
"Alex Zander." He repeated, trying to commit the name and face to memory, "What's it to me? Well, you see, it's easier to talk to someone knowing her name. Besides, names have special meanings to them, and I wanted to know what sort of lion you were. Alex Zander, hmm, now, let me see..." It was a rather first-thought-to-mind answer, and as Ilori thought a moment to figure out how to continue the answer, he straightened out of his lazy sprawl and into a more compact lying position, arms under chin to rest his head on.
"Alex Zander, you are a special one, aren't you? You're just a small-fry now, but you're going to become a great lioness, eh? Got some great expectations for yourself?" He tilted his head with some curiosity, waiting for her answer to that one.

Alex Zander blinked a few times at him, she didn't know why it was eaiser for h im to talk to her if he knew her name. She made a small face, she was starting to relax. She flopped down on her haunches, sitting back as much as she could with out falling over.
She started to arch a brow at when she he started saying he was 'Special' then when he said 'small fry'. She made a small face then shrugged slightly. "I'm not that Special." She murmured looking down at her feet. "My mamma saids I am but..." She watched as some of the sands at her feet started to shirt around and climb up her feet, she was learning how to control that pretty good. "Thats just about the only thing good that I can do." She shrugged slightly then made a small face.
"Well what about you? Hm? Your a adult, I don't see anything that special about you" Normally any lion would find it special if they were wearing clothes, but she was raised by all lions with clothes. Then when it came to the whole lunar part of him, yet again it didn't amaze her, she was born a lunar and on top of that her brother was one to. As of the moment she didn't see anything that impressive.

Well. He hadn't meant to be prophetic or anything! Ilori's eyes widened as the sand around her started to climb around her paws. "Well...I've...uh... never seen that before...and I've been around a bit...whoa!"
Ilori looked down and dug a paw under the sand, contemplating for a moment how it could be possible to control it, and trying to get his whirling thoughts back so he could answer without stuttering something stupid.
"Wow! Compared to that, Alex Zander, I am absolutely worthless." He sat up so he could bring his head in a proper bow to her, and then lie down again, "Nothing special about this lion at all, Ilori means...wandering toes..." Ilori moved his paws about, and then picked the one buried under the sand up to shake it off. "Been a lot of places while being dragged by these wandering toes though. I would say you're special! Seen a huge lion with a turtle-shell on his back, and claims he can do marvelous things, though he hasn't. Never seen a girl a dressed up and able to make the sand do things before. Your mom's pretty smart, you know. No one else does that! Unless your whole family has powers?"
Ilori now cast something between a intensely curious and slightly worried looked behind Alex. Man, he hoped they didn't think he was threatening their girl!

Alex simply shrugged at his reaction. To her it wans't really anything that special. She sighed through her nose and sat back on her haunches.
"To me wandering toes are awesome. I really don't get out much, I really can't get that far with out wanting to go back." She looked down at her feet for a moment before laughing at the idea of a large male with a shell on his back. "Its not really from my mom." She shrugged. "My mom is the one who takes care of me, but it came from my dad, he and a few of my half siblings can do it too. Most of them better than me though."
She shrugged, she didn't really get along with most of her siblings. Then again she just spend most of her time with Nagumo.

"Your mom is smart to know you're special. Really, I think maybe it's only your family that can do something like that! It's really amazing." He nodded at her other comment, "When I was a cub I was too afraid to go out of my family's sight too. That waited until I was grown up." He sighed a little, "I miss home too sometimes, I miss having a real family. That's something else you're very fortunate about."
He blinked, then shook his head. He shared it with a cub because he could. Talking with the men and teenager he lived with wasn't exactly an option, but... This was a cub he'd just met. Right, then... ah...
"So, what do you like to do in your free time?" Move away from the previous topic!

Alex Zander smiled and nodded. "Yes I have to admit she very much is." She looked down at her feet for a moment then looked up again when he was talking, she arched a small brow for a moment. "Your family should be there for you all of the time. I know mine would be. Well atleast most of it for sure." She shrugged slightly.
She knew other family's were diffrent, she took in mind her half siblings family's.
Her attetion snapped back up when she heard him speak again. She looked up thinking for a moment. "Some times, Some times I play with my brother or just relax at our den, or even play with the sand." She made a small face then looked over at him again. "You?" She asked simply. She acted very grown up for her age and most of the time she did. Only when she wanted to she acted like a cub... acted her age.

"My family would have always been there for me," Ilori sighed, "I was the fool that left. I was afraid of growing up and everyone changing, so...I avoided it and left. They're good lions though."
He tilted her head at her description then smiled, "Swimming. I love the water, and I like to see new places and meet new lions. And I like to watch the sun set and the moon change." Except for having more or less settled in the mountainous region for such a long time, Ilori was a fairly typical lunar lion. He just added to the normal range of interests. "I bet that sounds boring to you though!"

Alex Zander made a face fall for a moment. "I'm pretty sure they would be happy if you visited them and stuff, not saying you don't. I'm sure they still love you." She smiled slightly as if to try to make what she was saying as friendly as she could, even though she already did. She always was pretty sweet, and now she was just trying to make him feel good, like she did to almost everyone.
"I love the moon..." She said simply. "Those ideas don't bore me at all. Swimming is also very fun." She smiled thinking about the idea then flipped her harir on the side of her again, getting slightly annoyed by the weight of her braid, yet glad it was there and not getting sweated on.

Ilori nodded, looking a bit wistful a moment, but then smiling, "You are right, of course. Real families always love and care for one another, no matter the issue."
Ilori tilted his head, "How can you swim with all that clothing weighing you down?" He teased, and now reached out a paw to flick the edge of some of the fabric, "Or does it bubble out and help you float?"
