The large earthy red male sat hunched over searching out into the endless ocean, the bay was one of his favorite places to reflect on life and it's many mysteries. The early morning sun reflected off a shell necklace he wore around his neck, a gift from Miani, he usually hid it beneath his mane because he thought it to be a special item, something just for him.
Life had changed greatly he was staying away from the large band of lions he entered the pride with, feeling over run by children. He cared for the hybrid brood deeply but felt unneeded when it came to helping raise them. He had not seen the two adults or cubs in sometime and wondered where they were.
Sighing loudly he continued his staring out into the world wondering if Miani would be coming to collect the seas many gifts. He thought of the green female often her and the endless water, they crowded his dreams with crabs and seagulls, no longer did he think of the endless sands of his homeland, or the bones of his place of birth.

Despite more life arriving to the pride, Tambuzi still, oddly, found himself drawn to walking all along the pride's territory like his days of youth. When he first arrived here and embarked on the mission of re-establishing his pride. His pride. To say those words...still filled him with trepidation and anxiety.
Life was no easier now, with a daughter who had big plans for the pride, and other offspring running amok in their own unique ways.
Taking himself for a walk was a great way to clear the mind. And sometimes, a great way to find new faces. Today was one of those days. Approaching from the dunes, Tambuzi stared down the bay and saw the deeply coloured lion settled there.
He never got tired of seeing that colour. It seemed as much a part of the revival of the Bahari'mtoto as he was. Trying to put a name to the face was more difficult though...there was Ravi, Khepri...there was even an Akamu that had drifted through at some point...
Oh ho embarrassing! He'd forgotten his name!
"'Tis a good day for the sea," he commented idly in greeting as he approached Aten.

Ten had not sensed the older lion approach and when Tambuzi spoke chills rolled down the earthy red male's back. He was still getting used to seeing other lions as friendly, his traveling companions had helped him greatly, but being caught off guard was still disconcerting.
"It's always a great day for the sea, your Highness," Ten turned towards the king with a great smile and bowed his head before his eyes were inevitably pulled the the endless water.
"It just takes a hold of me," he muttered sheepishly, "The sea.." he trailed off and brought his attention back to Tambuzi.

"As it should. I'd be a bit worried for anyone who was here and weren't entranced by the sea. Its a big part of who we are here. But I'm happy that you feel so comfortable here," he spoke earnestly.
Tamba was a pretty down to earth lion, having grown out of the 'preciousness' of his title as king.

Speaking of being attracted to being here Ten realized that he never made anything official, both princesses had said he had to get the great kings blessing before staying in the land he loved so much.
"I was wondering if I could stay here, make this place my home?" he had a hard time looking the other male in the eyes while speaking, so he set his focus at the other male's chest. If he was not allowed to stay he wasn't sure where else to go..and a part of him was sure he would not be able to hold back his emotions, he'd probably cry. "I mean..if that's alright, I can help protect others, or hunt..or anything really."

Tamba then blushed, although it might not have been all that noticeable with his dark cheeks. He thought Aten was already a member! His head swam a moment amongst all the red pelts he'd seen in his time in this place, which caused him to forget the lion's name in the first place.
Unable to formulate a forged response, he was honest.
"I...thought you...already had," he said, sheepish at first, then descending into chuckles. "I believe I have seen you around enough and seen you be a member of this pride...I doubt I'll have any objections now."
Despite Tamba still being relatively young, leadership had matured him considerably. He could even be the same age as Aten for all either of them knew, but you wouldn't think it to look at the dark lion.

"Oh your Highness, I've been around a lot, and to be honest I've been thinking of this place as home, but I was told I had to make things official," he bowed deeply, "Tha-thank you very much." Ten was elated, this was a wonderful moment and he was very excited, wanting to tell Miani.
"Your wonderful daughters welcomed me here, and Miani she helped me to learn more about the water...the wonder water," he trailed of Ten had never been one for talking and it seemed a waterfall was spilling from his lips.
He had been staying in the lands and often watched Miani do her gathering, once he helped her. He for a moment wanted to ask the king for permission to court the female, but knew little of the customs, perhaps he would ask someone else.

"Well, its an honour to have you on board and as a member of this diversifying pride...R-...Aten!" he said, pausing and then having the name come to him suddenly. The reference to his daughters helped, he tried to think of all the names they'd dropped when discussing their days.
"Hehe," he laughed softly. "Miani will do that, quite gifted when it comes to the deeper things with this pride."
Any nervousness or trepidation Aten was showing went completely un-noticed by Tamba. He continued to switch his gaze from the youth, to the sea and back.
"I hope you enjoy the rest of your days here, Aten. Have you somewhere to sleep? I imagine you might have already seen most of the lands and picked somewhere, but its always polite to offer. And feel free to settle into anything that takes your interest in the pride, like hunting or guarding..."

Aten beamed with pride as the king seemed excited to know he'd be apart of the pride, not knowing that the king was trying to recall his name.
The large red lion thought about where he was sleeping, "Miani showed me a cave to sleep in, I am very comfortable here."
"I could be a great guard, I am large and it would be an honor to protect those dear to me in the land."

Tamba smiled broadly.
"Very good. Might be an idea for you to seek Kota and inform him that you'll be assisting as a guard. But its more than just protecting the lands from those who would do us harm - you'll be the first lions any newcomers will meet, so you also have to be a welcoming party at the same time," he said in gentle tones.
"Thats certainly how it has been for me for a while now, can't just sit back and let my daughter rule and enjoy my 'twilight' years," he laughed, realising he sounded older than he was. "I have to be doing something, keeping busy. I'll no doubt see you a lot on my wanderings, might even pitch in on guard duty now and then."
He gave Aten a friendly nudge like something friends would exchange after joking about together.

The red male exhaled not realizing that he was holding his breath, the king seemed to like him and that was a reassuring feeling knowing that he was welcome in a place he was already starting to consider home. He bobbed his head and felt the familiar weight of the seashell around his neck, another reassuring item.
"Welcoming committee, I think I can do that." Aten beamed at the kings nudge and was completely elated.
"I would be happy to be along side you," he wanted to talk to someone, maybe he'd go to the water's edge and see who he could tell about his happiness and acceptance.

"Good, although I'll warn you - I can cover a lot of ground," he smiled. "You'll need tough paws."
He glanced to the horizon, the sun having risen fully now, and he knew it to be time he moved on. Who knows, perhaps there was another new face waiting just over the next sand dune or out in the hunting plains or hidden within the jungle.
"Time I should be putting paw to the floor I'm afraid, still got some ground to cover this day," he smiled again and stood to all fours slowly, giving his limbs a little stretch. "'Twas a pleasure Aten, I'll see you around."
Tambuzi gave Aten a polite nod and began to carry on along the sands, with one last parting glance over his shoulder at the latest red edition to the pride.

Aten chuckled and smiled, "I'll try my best to keep up, I promise. I will see you around and thank you for everything your Highness, your pride has really changed my life."
Aten watched as the older male walked away and he stood changing directions towards the caves, perhaps he could find someone to brag his new acceptance to.
