(( Follow up after this and this ))

Laying on his bed, Kyou stare up into the white light above him. This is perhaps the third day he's laying in the hospital and he's already bored out of his mind. With both of his hands hurt and all wrapped up, he couldn't move them much. His left hand experienced a third-degree burn and his right a major second-degree burn. Thankfully he's on painkillers, so his hands only have slight stings and tinges in them. But without his hands he couldn't do anything much, no reading, no writing, he can't even eat properly!

A low moan can be heard from the person next to his bed as the patient stirred in his sleep. The doctors had been kind enough to move both Kyou and Jeremy into the same room when they found out that the both of them knew each other. Thankfully, Jeremy had finally woke up on the second day of Kyou's stay. But he's still too weak to do anything much, and will probably need to stay for another week or two.

Turning his head, Kyou stared at the window, wondering how Lazarus is doing running the lab on his own. He's old enough to take care of himself, but Kyou is worried about the Raevan experiments. He hoped Lazarus had done as he promised and placed the Baphomet soul and the Lava Ice Rock into the Raevan tanks. Laz haven't visited since he admitted Kyou in, so there's no way Kyou could know how was he doing. Jeremy had been sleeping a lot lately too, and Kyou is almost aching to have someone to talk to. He turned his head to face the other side of the room - where the door is located. And silently wished someone would come to visit him today.

Timidly stepping into the room, Isi poked his head out around the corner. Ah, there they were! Isi didn't know one of the men, but the horned man on the bed closest next to him struck a firm chord of familiarity. He gave a brief clearing of his throat before he swung himself into the room. He forced a smile at the doctor and hobbled near.

Usually, Isikoro hated hospitals. In this case, however, Isi tried to push his hate for them aside in order to give the doctor a visit. He disliked the walls and bacteria-free dispensers lining the pastel green colored paint...He hated the fact that all the doors to the rooms were open so you could see the suffering people inside...He loathed all the shiny metallic objects and machinery, the plastic tubes and beeping lights. It made Isi's palms sweat. But, again, this was for Dr. Kyou.

"Hey, Dr. Kyou," Isikoro said quietly. He didn't know what else to say. He could ask how the doctor was, but he knew that he hated being asked that question. So he decided to stray from the subject. He knew that others would ask him and before long the Doctor would be tired of saying the same thing. "My family has come. They're not all here yet, though, but they're coming."

Aphismet and Rivener were still trying to find parking. Not only that but they still had to carry the things they had brought for the Doctor and his companion too. Eiry was somewhere behind Isi, probably still in the hallway, jadedly observing the hospital with his jar clutched to his chest. Eiry still wasn't acting like himself. Even though that the entire family now knew what was on his mind, they still couldn't break him of his thoughtful reverie.

"Eiry should be here any moment now," Isi told Kyou, trying to keep his suspicions confirmed, "He's...kind of low, lately."

At that moment, Eiry floated through the wall into the room and gave a dejected glance at the Doctor. He was paler than usual and his characteristic spunk and frivolity had all but disappeared. Within the cradle of his arms was his jar and he held it tightly to him like a beloved blanket. "Mmn."

If anyone got in her way or tried to stop her, she'd put them in the hospital, and not in a visiting capacity.

She'd gone by the Lab to drop off a soul bottle and had been quite perplexed to find no doctor in the building. There was a disgruntled Sigel, one who had given her sparse information but enough to send her into a tizzy about there whereabouts of the injured man. After forcibly utilizing Lazarus' help to find some of Kyou's things and a quick drive to her house, she had zoomed off to the hospital and grilled the nearest unfortunate thing that could breathe for the location of the doctor.

It was this whirlwind that brought Alex to Kyou's room, but it had thankfully subsided by the time she peeked around the side of the door, her brow creased with worry. She spotted Isi and Eiry (and really, how could anyone miss the minty Frei?), relief flittering across her drawn face before she stepped into the room, clutching a satchel at her side. "Hey, Isi, Eiry," her bright green eyes shifted to the bed they stood near, "Kyou." She looked over towards the man next to the doctor, wondering why they'd put someone who looked like a trauma patient in the same room, but quickly returning her attention back to the gathered.

Giving a quiet sigh, she offered Isi and his Raevan a brief smile and a touch of greeting to the boy's elbow before shifting to the side of Kyou's bed, putting the satchel near it. "I had Laz help get some clothes for when you get out," she said in a rather dull tone, as if she'd done this a thousand times. "I also brought you a music player and a handheld game thing, I dunno if you're into that," her gaze flicked to his hands, "or if you can, but I thought I'd try. Are you taking your meds like they told you?" Her lips tugged into an annoyed scowl, reaching over to adjust the pillows by Kyou's head. "And goodness, don't they see your horns? You're gonna spear these like marshmallows if they aren't more careful! Useless."

She grumbled for a bit, fussing in her strange maternal way she had, before she finally asked the obvious. "So how do you feel? I hope you--oh," he voice resumed some of its more playful qualities, "Laz said he hopes you feel better soon." She paused, before nodding to herself, "And said 'the Lab is fine.' I guess you'd know what that means more than I would."

Although it wasn't who he expected to enter the door, (he was hoping Lazarus would visit) but he was extremely glad that someone finally came to see him. "Oh hello uhm, Isikoro right?" remembering the young crippled boy living with Aphismet. And Aphismet is coming too! Finally, someone to talk to. "Eiry is...?" he asked warily, wondering what Isi meant. But as they spoke of the devil, Eiry floated eerily passed the wall. That act still bugs Kyou somewhat, although he is well aware of Eiry's special abilities thus far.

"Hello Eiry!" he greeted, thinking that it would only be polite if he greet everyone. Since they all went out of their way to come visit him after all, which is is thankful for. He was wondering what was contained in the jar Eiry seemed to be holding rather protectively as he glanced at it.

Just then, a more familiar face pops in from the hospital doorway. "Alex!" Kyou exclaimed in surprise, immensely glad. He chuckled as Alex goes about doing her things. It's not that he finds Alex funny, but he haven't had someone cared and nagged at him like a mother would in a while. And he find that whole situation rather amusing. "The music player might be useful, but I don't think the handheld gaming console would be of much use." he said, lifting his hands a little bit. He shifted himself up into a sitting position when Alex adjusted his pillow, chuckling lightly. "Thank you for your concern though."

"I feel better now actually, I can't feel my hands much right now, but my nose still hurt a little. The doctor said they're healing nicely though and will make a perfect full recovery." Kyou replied. "But he said there might be scarring on the hands." He was a little sad when he heard that, but with a burn as serious as that, it probably can't be avoided. "And Laz said that?" he asked. He was about to ask why didn't Lazarus came to visit him with Alex, but thought better of it. Kyou wouldn't want Alex to be worried about him more than she is now. "I guess the Lab will be fine in Laz's hands for the mean time. He knows how to keep it running, having helped me for so long."

Isikoro

PostPosted: Tue Oct 07, 2008 8:00 pm

"Yes, Isikoro. I'm glad you remembered, Dr. Kyou," Isi beamed. Then, before he said much more, a familiar and warm face entered.

Isi was surprised to see Alex burst into the room. He wasn't expecting to see anyone else here. Most of the stiffness he was feeling vanished when he saw her come in. Out of the small handful of women he knew, Alex was one of the few he really got along with. He really enjoyed having her around. So when she touched his arm, Isi softened up and felt a little better about being in the place he hated most.

"It's good to hear you're on the mend. It's so dreary to be locked up and bed-ridden in a stark white place like this," Isi commented, eying the ceiling with suspicion.

Eiry slowly floated off to one side. He didn't feel like this was a place where he should speak up anymore than he had too. Then again, he didn't want to talk either. He simply floated, intangible and ghostlike near the wall, clutching his jar.

This place, the hospital, simply made him even more heavy with thought. He didn't like this place, just like Isi. On the way to this room, Eiry peered in a couple rooms where he saw sickly bodies all wrapped up in white and wire. It could only mean thing...And that thought simply made Eiry shudder. His pointed ears drooped and he glanced at Dr. Kyou and his injuries, glad that he wasn't in Kyou's place.

The woman smiled at Isi's words, giving a nod of agreement. She patted herself on the back for not wrapping the poor teen into an unwilling hug, but she was fairly uncomfortable in the place as it were. Alex had enough scars that they should have named a wing after her. Instead, she fished into the satchel and pulled out the player - along with a charger - and set it on the nightstand by Kyou. "I'll help you figure out how to rig this bad boy before I go," she assured him, looking over his hands again.

She reached out and gingerly touched his forearms, grateful at least that the wounds had stayed to his palms. A snort escaped her at the mention of scars; really, she'd have to stay extra covered around the doctor in that case! "You'll be fine," she patted his arm lightly, "it just gives you character. Nothing wrong with hands that show work!" And as though to prove her point, Alex held up one of her own hands, which had small but numerous scars that had mostly faded to the color of her tanned skin. "I have enough scar tissue for both of us, so we'll just think positive and turn that 'might' into 'no chance.'

"And yeah. Laz said that. If I was making it up, I would have been more flowery about it." Alex glanced side-long to Isi and gave a little wink. Her gaze turned about until she found Eiry, her smile fading just a little around the edges, thinking that the Frei was unusually...still. She wasn't used to seeing him whole, usually finding him halfway through something or the ilk. Turning her eyes back to the two males, her smile resumed its warmth. "It's good to see you're okay though, that it's just your hands. And nose." She made a motion as though to tap it, but did not actually touch; she could be dense, but she wasn't totally stupid.

Yuurei sighed as she held up the heavy tupperware container filled with home-made and some magic-made pastries. “I don’t get why you want to come here all the time,” she said as the took in a deep breath passing a spot with a particularly strong ‘hospital smell.’ She couldn’t stand hospitals. Being in them, being near them, as a patient or visitor was never a pleasant experience for her. The whole environment just didn’t work with her. The blonde haired girl let out the breath she had been holding, breathed in, and scrunched her nose. It still smelled so strong.

The sharp purple eyes focused on her guardian’s yellow glasses-covered eyes. “Sometimes they need help . . .” the cat-raevan did not elaborate. Yuurei wouldn’t understand and so far she hadn’t shared anything but slipped reactions to her guardian about her powers. What would she say anyway? Give them big boobs, they’ll all be happy then? Right.

Yuurei looked around to see that the hallway was mostly deserted. Popping off the lid quickly, Yuurei grabbed one of three pastries with a large cursive (though barely readable) “Y” inscribed on it that she reserved just for herself. Popping it in her mouth and letting the rum ball-like pastry practically melt in her mouth, she quickly closed the lid, readjusted her refreshed top, and looked up to find Lucia staring at her. ”What?”

”I can’t believe you made those and brought them here!” About to continue scolding her guardian about place and time and how breast size wasn’t so important (not that she had ever seen her guardian off of her . . . home-made medication) when her eyes locked on the nameplate of the next room. ”Oh my god!” Without another word or a glance back at her guardian, Lucia floated right into Dr. Kyou’s room, her mouth open wide. ”Dr. Kyou, what happened? Why are you here? Are you okay?”

The blonde woman removed her “annoyed face,” where she stood with one hip out, chin down, eyes on the ceiling, as she realized Lucia’s tone had changed. Not that she had been listening to her charge’s complaints, but genuine concern replaced mild scorn in her tone of voice. Looking towards Lucia, she watched the raevan streak right past her and into a room they had yet to visit. Lucia didn’t normally barge into rooms without politely knocking first and announcing herself. She glanced at the names attatched to the patients Kyou -- Kyou?!? Dr. Kyou?!? Yuurei followed her raevan into the room, eyes wide as she took in all the visitors and the two patients, still holding up the tupperware container filled with pastries.

Natsuki was beside herself. After receiving Alex's harrowing telephone call, she fought to maintain her composure. The details were sketchy, but Kyou and another gentleman were in hospital. Thankfully, they were alive. Regret welled up inside her, making her feel horrible for not keeping in contact with everyone. Despite her best efforts, after the disaster with Chloe, Natsuki became a bit of a recluse.

The cafe manager never like hospitals. Unlike the lab, which always felt welcoming and like a second home, hospitals always felt devoid of genuine warmth-- other than that of all the machines running. Rapping lightly on the doorjamb, Natsuki entered the room to find a rather full house. She couldn't remembered the last time she's seen Alex or Isi and there were some unfamiliar faces as well.

Sa'ida was unusually quiet. After seeing Natsuki weep a bit in the bathroom after a phone call from a friend, the genie Frei was unsure what to do. Natsuki never cried in front of her as she preferred doing it in private. Dr. Kyou was not only her guardian's dear friend, but the man who made her! He was an important person to Sa'ida, too!

She tried hiding the large bouquet of colorful metallic origami flowers behind her back, but as the rainbow Frei barely has a bustline, her attempt failed miserably. With a closer look, one could see that each flower was made from tiny paper cranes. After remembering a story Natsuki told her about how folding paper cranes could make wishes and hopes come true, Sa'ida stayed up most of the night making the present for Dr. Kyou and his roommate.

"I brought some of my handmade strawberry shortcake. I think there should be enough for everyone," Natsuki said softly, her gray eyes softening under the mist weighting them down. Setting the cake box down delicately on the side table, she discretely wiped her eyes while her back was turned. Hastily tucking her handkerchief into her pocket, she rejoined the group with a smile. "Also, Sa'ida made you a get well card and a special present. She stayed up way past her bedtime to finish it."

"I hope you like these. They were supposed to be a surprise, but I have no lower back yet," Sa'ida giggled, trying to untangle the rainbow ribbon carefully. Spotting a space on the table between the two bed, she carefully laid the bouquet down. It the young raevan could make a wish for yourself, she'd make everyone better.

Since she couldn't grant herself anything, she simply looked at each of the patients with eager green eyes. "The cranes bring good luck and make wishes come true. They don't talk much, but I think they will keep you company for a long time."

It was surprising how people just filed into the room all of a sudden. A few minutes before he was still feeling miserable and alone, but now the room was so packed with visitors he felt that the head nurse might barge in any moment now shooing everyone out. At this rate, even Jeremy might be awaken any time now. But Kyou was glad that everyone was so caring.

"Thank you all for visiting!" he beamed. "I hurt my hands in an experiment." he explained, addressing the newly arrived Yuurei's question while raising both his heavily wrapped hands. "And I hurt my nose in a fall, but I'm alright, you all don't need to worry. The doctor say that I might be able to get out after a week."

"And thank you for the desserts Natsuki, although I'm not sure how to eat them at the moment." Until now, most of his meals are either watery and consumed with a straw, or are fed by a nurse. He would think that eating a cake would require a fork, but he don't know how to ask anyone to spoon feed him at the moment. It will feel awkward. He took a glance at the bouquet of paper cranes when Sa'ida placed them on the table. Oh they were lovely! "Thank you very much for the gift." he said, smiling warmly at the tanned Frei. "That was very sweet of you."

Despite all these attention that he's receiving, he couldn't help but notice that Eiry was quite quiet in all this ordeal. Much like he's alienating himself from the rest of the group. Kyou couldn't help but worry.

While on the bed next to Kyou's, a figure stirred in his sleep. Awaken by the many chatter and the smell of food - desserts to be precise. He shares the same sweet tooth with Kyou when it comes to desserts. Rolling over in his bed, he made a soft groaning sound as he opened his eyes. "Why why, what do we have here?" Jeremy said in a cracked voice, he had been sleeping for a while. "So many lady visitors for the good doctor. Oh my, you are such a lucky lad young man." he chuckled lightly. But followed closely by a moan as he felt the jab of pain from his wound on his chest.

She was slightly overwhelmed by the gaggle of people and floating bodies that were suddenly stuffed into the small room, pressing her back against the wall by the head of Kyou's bed. Alex could handle one or two people at a time - maybe even three on a good day - but today was not such a day. Between the three unfamiliar faces and the three that were (and all three seemed to be down and out of sorts), she was feeling very claustrophobic.

Even so, she wanted to hug Natsuki, not having seen her friend in so long. At the sight of her Raevan, however, that harrowing night came back to the forefront of her mind, making her heart ache. Now wasn't the best time, she imagined, for proper introductions. She slid towards the front door as everyone pressed around the doctor, almost jumping out of her skin when another new and unfamiliar voice joined the fray.

Surprise flitted over her sharp features. Good doctor? Did that mean this man knew Kyou?

Goodness above, but where were her manners?! The poor guy was in a hospital looking like something a raptor dragged in, she didn't have to base her capacity for kindness on if he knew someone or not! Alex sighed, feeling a little more grounded at her own chastizing, stepping back around the other man's bed to stand at his side, donning her warm smile. "Hey," she greeted him kindly, making sure not to block his view of the younger man, joking lightly, "Yeah, you could say he's kinda grown on all of us. Must be the horns."

Looking between the two, she eventually settled her eyes on the older man, extending her hand carefully over the hand rail. "I'm Alex, I work for Kyou. How are you feeling? Can I get you any water or anything?" It occured to her she didn't know how long the man had been sleeping or in the ward at all; she might have to go get a nurse, just to let them know he was amongst the living again!

Jeremy chuckled with a little bit of difficulty. "Nice to meet you Alex. I would've kissed your hand and properly introduce myself... if I wasn't so weak right now." Which was the truth, as he couldn't draw much strength from his body right now. It might be due to the fact that he had been unconscious for a long time and his body is still weak, but somehow Jeremy felt that his age is creeping up to him.

"But where are my manners? My name is Jeremiah Bartimeus, a friend of that handsome doctor sitting over there." he motioned his head to Kyou. "Water would be very nice, my throat is feeling a little dry at the moment. And would you be so kind as to raise my bed with that remote so I could sit up for a bit? Laying down too long is giving me a backache." he smiled kindly at Alex.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 07, 2008 4:04 pm

The woman smiled kindly, lowering her hand to grasp the older man's and squeeze it very gently in acknowledgement. "I'll take a rain check, then?" she offered, not joking in the least. Alex tilted her head at his name, not sure if she'd heard it before. Her free hand moved to the remote on the side of the bed, eyes darting over the list of gadgets before lifting one of them, the bed whirring to life and raising the backrest upwards.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Jeremiah." She rarely greeted people by their first name, but the man deserved such friendliness in an unaccomodating place. "I'll get you a cool drink then," she released his hand with a continued smile, turning towards Kyou's bedside table. "Stealing your water," Alex informed the man jovially, choosing one of the unused cups near by and filling it from the water pitcher. Plunking a straw into the clear liquid, her eyes paused over the near by cake. Did she dare? Oh, what could it hurt to ask?

The Italian returned to Jeremy's side, holding the cup out for him with the straw turned towards his face. "Cup o' water," she chuckled softly, "and I saw some tasty cake over there if you're so inclined. No man should be deprived of his sweets." Alex turned her head to call playfully over her shoulder to Kyou, "That goes for you too boss!" The mischevious glint in her eye indicated the woman was feeling more like herself, despite the circumstances.

"Pleasure to meet you too, and thank you, Miss Alex." Jeremy said as the backrest raised. He definitely felt much better to be in a sitting position. "Now I can look at your beautiful face more properly too!" he complimented as he smiled.

He was extremely grateful for the young woman's help, helping him raise the bed and giving him water. Bending over in front a little, he took a few sips from the water. He could almost feel life creeping back into his body again. The hospital is just such a foreboding place to be in, it almost reminded Jeremy of death. Someone in the other room might be dying right now at this moment.

Taking another sip of water, Jeremy cleared his throat a little. "A cake sounds lovely, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to eat solid food right now." he chuckled lightly. He was cut open a little more than a week ago, and was surviving on drips for the first week he was here. Only yesterday did the nurse allowed him to eat soft food. Hesitating a little though, he gave in to temptation. "I guess a little bit wouldn't hurt, we just have to keep this from the nurse." he winked playfully.

"Jeremiah, you're awake!" Kyou exclaimed happily, hearing the older man's voice. It was nice to see him up and being his usual self again. Though having ladies visiting probably helped a bunch. Kyou let Alex take the water, since there's still plenty left and the nurse will come to refill it 3 times a day. He perked up at the offer for cake though, and felt troubled yet again. "Maybe later, for the cake." he smiled sadly.

Lucia sighed softly, glad to hear she wouldn't have to speak to the soul of the doctor any time soon. "I'm glad you're okay! What experiment . . . is everything okay? Is the lab gone again?" She smiled at the bed ridden man and said softly, remembering why she originally came to the hospital, "Do you need anything?" If she could help she would.

Yuurei heard the reply the good doctor gave Lucia and slowly went over to his bedside, but her eyes were drawn to the man in the next bed. Girls love guys with scars and Yuurei was drawn to the man who was obviously recovering from some exotic trauma, if it had anything to do with the doctor (and based on the conversation it seemed to). "Jeremiah, right? I'm Yuurei," she smiled coyly at the man, her eyes hooded slightly. "And I don't have cake, but I do have some sweets and pastries and if you want some I won't tell anyone," she winked and put the tupperware full of pastries on an empty rolling tray and dislodged the lid. "Alex, right?" she asked, directing her attention to the young woman. "You're welcome to some too, and you too, Doctor."

Looking as though she was hit in the face with the water, Alex blinked at Jeremy before uttering a startled bit of embarrassed laughter, unusually quiet. She absently toyed with her hair as though shy, fingers tugging at a longer lock by her ear, "Now now Jeremiah, no sweeping girls off their feet until you can stand on your own. That's hardly fair." The woman was pleased with the compliment, all smiles as he took the water and drank with ease. A grin lit her features, nodding to the older man like a partner in crime, putting the cup of water on the man's bed stand. "Our little secret," she agreed, moving towards the table between the two men.

At Kyou's exclaimation, she idly tugged the curtain between them a little further back, not that it was in the way but as a precaution. She was still innately uncomfortable to be in the hospital, but the good company and the delicious aroma of cake helped stem that tide of concern for the time being. Her green eyes shifted briefly to the doctor at his tone, arching a slender brow in silent question. "I'll save you a good piece," she promised him with a delicate smile, "and take you out for your own cake when you're out of here." She chuckled softly at the Raevan's concern, finding it bittersweet somehow; for all the care taken of the Frei's, it did come back to him.

As Alex returned to Jeremy's side, it occured to her that the men were both in the hospital...together, having know each other previously... The proverbial light blub popped into existance over her head as she used a plastic fork to cut the moist pastry, looking between the two men with worry. "You mentioned an accident at the Lab, Kyou, but..." Her attention turned to the older man, extending the fork with her question, "were you there too?" She glanced over to Yuurei as the woman introduced herself, feeling slightly less vibrant in the face of such a lovely form, giving her a kind smile. "Alex, yes, nice to meet you, Yuurei--ah, I'm not very hungry, just glad just to see these two in one...or mostly one piece." Her smile returned to Jeremy, fork stationary for him.
