Storyline:

2060 - Scientists discover a ruined tower out in the atlantic ocean. After some research, they found thier way into what was now the ruined city of Rapture. Although many horrors were reveiled, scientists took the medical and scientific discoveries that were made back during the years that Rapture was a bustling city and began working on refining them, trying to find a means to perfect what was made and keeping side effects to a minimum.

2065 - After much lobbying with the US, Scientist Jacob Andrews managed to get the support needed to rebuild Rapture from the inside out.

2067 - War breaks out between the US and China, sparking the global conflict of World War 3. Communications with Rapture were cut off. A small team comprised of a mixture of scientists, soldiers, undercover cops and hackers were sent to Rapture to investigate. meanwhile, inside Rapture, things are getting out of hand. Some select people of power and influence are warring amongst each other, some having gone insane. Some of the people are becomming splicer addicts, becomming more monster-like while still retaining some shattered human memories. Others, however, are fighting for thier lives agianst the splicers in an effort to try and escape.

Rules:
1.> No godmodding
2.> Obey the guild rules
3.> Keep things PG 17. This is not an RP for kids since there will be alot of horror and descriptiveness, much like the original game. Some cussing is allowed, but don't go overboard. Keep romance to PG 13
4.> Para-rp. Please post a minimum of 3 sentences per post
5.> Do not kill each other off unless the person has already given you express permission to do so. Do note, however, if I feel you are godmodding or trying to take over the RP (Mary-Sue-ing), and you are ignoring my warnings, I will not hesitate to kill your character off. After all, Rapture is a very dangerous place, and there are no such things as safe havens.

ADAM and EVE

ADAM is the energy which is used to splice together new and existing plasmids. Gby a deep sea parasite when it attaches to a host, the parasite produced new stem cells healing the host. The new stem cells allowed the host to take on external genetic modifications that take over thier normal cell structure (like cancer). These genetic modifications ranged from medical cures to purely vanity changes. The genetic modifications eventually became more militant in nature. The instant genetic modificationsof Rapture come in two different flavors: Plasmids and Gene Tonics

Plasmids are powered by EVE - a serum that gives you the power to use them.If you have no EVE, you cannot use your plasmids. EVE can be restored throughthe use of EVE hypo syringes (injector needles) which can be found scattered all over Rapture as well as bought through vending machines.

PLASMIDS effectively change the world around you, and each one has its own ability. Only one Plasmid can be used at a time, but you can switch between Plasmids at any time. In order to gain the power of a plasmid, you must use collected ADAM energy at a Gatherer Gardens machine. Some plasmids, however, can be found out in the open if you look hard enough, but those are a scarce rarity. ADAM can only be collected by either harvesting (killing) or saving (through use of a special Plasmid) a Little Sister. And in order to get to a Little Sister, you must first take out the protecting Big Daddy.

GENE TONICS give you enhancedpassive abilities and come in three flavors: Physical, Engeneering and Combat. You may only have up to 3 of each kind active. You may switch which tonics are active, along with which Plasmids are active, at a Gene Bank machine.

Weapons: Weapons that can be found and used in Rapture are
Handgun (Normal, armor piercing, anti-personel) 6-10 rounds per clip depending on if handgun is revolver or magazine fed.
Shotgun (Normal, Explosive buck, electric buck shot) holds up to 8 rounds before needing to be reloaded
Tommy Machiene Gun (normal, Anti-personel, armor piercing) 40 rounds per magazine
Rail Gun (Normal, electric rail, flaming rail) reloads after every shot
Grenade Launcher (Frag grenade, heat seeking, area sensor bomb) 4 per clip
Flamethrower (Napalm, Liquid Nitrogen, Electric plasma) each bottle has 100 seconds worth of fluid.
Sniper Rifle (Normal, 50 cal, razor wire shot) 10 rounds per clip
Any type of modern melee weapon

Ammo is limited and can either be confiscated from fallen enemies or purchased through Ammo Vendor Machines (Selection is very limited)

Also, each weapon (with the exception of melee weapons) has 3 different types of ammo: One normal and two specialty types.

Starting Plasmids to choose from:
Incinerate - fire off flame at your fingertips!
Electrocute - Shock people, stun security bots/turrets, electrify water, teporarily opperate shorted out door locks.
Telekenesis - grab things from far away, clear debris without touching it, catch grenades and toss them right back.

Hacking - Hacking can get you entrance into locked areas, bring a security bot uinder your control, make security cameras and turrets friendly to you and even get you discounts at the various vending machiens (except for the Gatherer's Garden, those can't be hacked) However, depending on the security rating and your equipped Engenering Tonics, the difficulty can be easy or insanely difficult. difficulty ranged from 1 (easiest) to 20 (hardest). When you wish to hack something you must post that you are ATTEMPTING to hack something. I will post the difficulty rating and you must roll 1d20. A failed hack will hurt your character or even make the machine explode. However, there are tonics that can help with hacking, and for those who are expert hackers, the difficulty level can be lowered by these two things.

Death - Death is a constant thing in Rapture ever since the war broke out and people have started going crazy by over-splicing and abusing plasmids and tonics. Not to mention you have three factions all warring with each other over who will control Rapture. However, character death will only occur when one of the following happened:
1.> You godmodded or tried to take over the RP by bringing in things or people that should not be there in the first place, or have violated the rules intentionally.
2.> Your character decides to sacrifice themselves so the others can live on to fight another day
3.> Your character does something stupid, like blasting at a Big Daddy with a grenade launcher at CLOSE RANGE.
4.> You have consented to have your player killed by another player or by me, either for storyline purposes or because you want out of the game without disrupting play.

If your character dies because of option 2, 3, 4, or for some other reason, you can create a new character. If your character was killed off because of option 1, you won't be comming back.

Profiles:

First off, you need to decide if you're going to be one of the people who are inside Rapture, or one of the people going into Rapture to investigate. Those who are already citizens of Rapture will start out with two Plasmids, but only one weapon. Those comming in from the outside can have two weapons, but start out with no plasmids. Neither starts out with any tonics.

Second, there are three groups warring for power in Rapture: Jacob Andrews, the scientist who restored and ran Rapture up until current time and still considered ruler of Rapture: Simon Salvatori, a mafia kingpin who has been trying to smuggle the secrets of Rature topside for personal use to expand his empire: Avatar, a mysterious person whoseems a bit of an enigma, but thus far has shown considerable support for those seeking to stop the war and bring peace back to Rapture under a new regime, one where plasmids, ADAM and all other humanoid altering substances are strictly regulated. If you are a resident, you fall under one of these three groups. Refugees and people looking to stop the war fall under Avatar: People looking for power, wealth and glory fall under Salvatori: scientists and those seeking to continue perfecting thier research without moral limitations, and all others loyal to the founder fall under Andrews. Pick your side if your a native.

Finally, PM me your profiles. I will post all pprofiles in a single post to keep everything orderly. As you earn tonics and plasmids, I will edit the post to reflect what tonics and plasmids you have at your command, as well as your current amount of spendable ADAM.

I will set up scenarios in which plasmids and tonics will become available, so I don't want to see any posts saying "Oh, I found this plasmid/tonic and I use it." before I even say it's there in the first place. If you do, your character will be feeling the business end of Big Daddy's drill arm as it rips your character to shreds. twisted

Appearance: User Image
Plasmids: None
Tonics: None

Ammo: DE: 10 normal rounds in chamber/30 rounds remaining
Personality: Atrus is pretty laid back when not on duty. As a war veteran, he has a commanding presence and sometimes forgets that those accompanying him aren't as educated in military lingo or hand gestures. He likes to stay in control, primarilly because he feels he is responsible for everyone's safety. However, he is rational and if someone comes up with a better idea, he'll be willing to listen.
Bio: Atrus spent most of his life as the son of two military parents. He was always moving, rarely able to make and keep friends except for those he managed to keep in touch with through the internet. After graduating, Atrus went into the US Army as Counter Intellegence. After several successful missions through his 9 year career, Atrus decided to end his military career and take up painting. Several of his portraits were top hits, and through his art he made enough to live comfortably in his quiet life. But then, teh FBI came one day and told him that a special task force was to be created from a group of people with various skills, some military/former millitary, others pure civilian. he was told of the year long lack of communication with Rapture, and that he was to lead the investigation team.
