The restaurant was packed! Waiting was out the door and as long as thirty to forty minutes if one did not have a reservation. However, lucky for them, Sirene had made plans ahead of time just for that reason. Monap had started as just a small, family run, hole in the wall place that people went to when everywhere else was closed. Now, ten years later, it was one of the most popular places in town.
"Sirene, how in the world did you get a table?" Yuki questioned as she tried to get by the crowds without slicing anyone open with her wings. Sadly, she knew she had torn the pant leg of someone back near the door but they never seemed to notice.
"You get lucky." Sirene smiled walking up to the hostess. "Table for two. The reservation is under Sirene." She spoke softly, holding up two fingers just to get the point across.
The woman looked over her books, smiled and picked up a few menus just as some people behind her let out a groan. "Right this way." She called out, motioning for the pair to follow her towards a table near the window where they could look out. It was a table for four people so Sirene wasn't too sure why they didn't give it to a larger party but still, she did not question as they were seated.
No sooner than had Sirene and Yuki opened their menus did a man in a suit come up to them. "Ladies, I do hope I'm not being rude," He started, his voice professional but Yuki could see clearly he was worried about something. "But the restaurant is over booked. I am afraid we might have double booked this table..."

Bethan dragged Kain through the crowd of people as if he was child. She flicked her tail from side to side trying to move some of people for one side for Kain. She did care really just found it a lot harder to show it than most. "Move outta way! Can't you see hes blind!" A few people turned around at this comment much to Kain embrassment. Some small child was about to make a comment on the fact Kain was wearing a blindfold but recieved an evil glare before even the first word escaped their mouth.
The mouse-girl sighed as she finally reached the front. The line behind her of once cheerful people looked more annoyed than ever after being shooed away by a mouse and shoved by the innocent herald. "I have a reservation under Tamuril" she explained. The hostess looked down the list coming near enough the bottom. "Ah, your a lucky one, last minute reservations are hard to get Miss". Bethan tried a smile "I was rather lucky myself, my partner booked this for me Kain here" The hostess looked over to Kain and smiled at him, sensing a small change in atmosphere Kain smiled as well but remained silent as Bethan was in a bad enough mood from the crowd she just pushed through. "Right this way then" she said leading them to table instucted on her pad.
Kain and Bethan followed single line behind her looking around at the other people that had come to dine. A lot of people had decided to dress up which made Bethan feel a little arkward, but the vibes of happy people kept Kain calm and he seemed to notice less and less his guardians mood. The hostess stopped almost causing Kain to walk into her. She coughed politly to recieve Bethans attension. "It says here you were booked for table number 5 but it seems....double-booked?" she said looking towards the waiter.
Bethan twitched her tail but kept calm, she pulled Kain in front of her to let him talk anything over that was nesserary. This was a gift that she didn't exactly want ruined like this.

Brows furrowed together as Sirene listened to the man. She wasn't quite sure what he meant at first until the words sunk in almost a heart beat later. "Double booked? I made this almost a week ago." She whispered, feeling slight annoyance rise in her chest as she tried to keep her cool. Placing the menu down ontop of her plate, she stood up so that Yuki wouldn't hear everything she was saying. Dropp her voice to a whisper, the woman's long blonde hair fell before the side of her face that appeared to the crowd as she posed her question: "How did that happen?"
"I'm sorry Ma'am." He whispered giving her a bow from the head, his neatly gelled hair staying completely in place. "It just seems booking made a mistake. There isn't much we can do now." He spoke turning to the hostess who was walking towards them, a male and female behind her.
The sharped wing herald, while unable to hear what her guardian had been saying got the idea when both standing adults turned and looked at a pair of new comers. Yuki's pale eyes locked onto the female first. She wasn't like other woman she had seen before and the fact that she was hiding behind the male made her wonder what the cause of the strong emotion was. It wasn't until Yuki's eyes caught sight of the beautiful glass wings that she realized it was another guardian and herald. "Sirene, just how many of us are there?" Yuki whispered, taking on a little girl act, even with her personality, only to show politeness in a nice place.
"I don't know, Yuki." Sirene sighed looking back towards her own charge. "But I guess it can't be helped. Wait here." Sirene spoke softly running a hand through her thick hair and walking over to the hostess and the pair. "Excuse me. I do believe that we might be booked at the same table." Sirene spoke kindly, looking from one to the other. "As you can see, the table is large enough. If you two don't mind, we have no problem sharing."

Kain, took a small bow before taking hold of the convasation. "I do beleive this is the case, I personally don't mind sharing a table, though i think Bethan here will leave a complaint after we leave" he said gesturing to the female behind him.
Bethan was more alert after her name was mentioned. She nodded, still irratited of the whole situation. Though to show her acceptance to mearly fixed up her shirt placing away any small chains out of sight so it looked slightly normal. She had nothing really to do with her hair as it often sorted itself out, dark and short really suited her.
"My name is Kain Nigel, and Bethan is my guardian, if we are going to go through with the arrangements please may I have at least your name?" he asked politely as possible.
Kain tugged his blindfold, he was sure their was someone else here as well but he couldn't tell if it was nothing but another waiter or waitress and didn't want to make the mistake in front of a stranger. It felt like a herald, they had the same atmosphere around but he was uaually tense after being forced into the situation and couldn't tell if it was simply him getting worked up over nothing.
(sorry its a bit short, was going to write some more, but i have to run this morning)

Impressive. There was no other way to describ how the man before her came off to Sirene. He was well spoken and had no problem taking charge of what was going on at the moment. Not to mention, polite and cute. They could have done worse for table mates.
"I do believe that a complaint or two would be very well placed. In a business of this size, one would expect things to run smoothly." Her voice was soft as she returned his words with a kind smile, noticing quickly that both the hostess and waiter looked very uncomfortable standing near them. Casting a glance towards them, Sirene gave a nod that everything was alright on her end before moving slightly to the side to the waiter could pass by.
"My name?" The question caught Sirene off guard as she realized that the small fact had escaped her. Catching herself in mid-blink, she nodded twice. "I am Sirene. It's a pleasure to meet you Kain, and you as well Bethan. I do hope we don't interupt your dinner too much." It was at that very moment she realized she had said a plural and forgotten someone very important.
Glancing over her shoulder, she smiled at the girl who sat quietly looking out the window, her hands busy turning the napkin into a bird in her lap. "That is Yuki. She is under my protection. I promise, her bark is worse than her bite but becare of her wings." She motioned with her hands to what would have been invisable ones on her back before completely turning from the pair and making her way back to the four person table.
"Yuki, we have company." Sirene's voice was a bell as she came by, picked up her purse and menu before quickly slipping into the chair closest to her herald.
"Who?" Yuki asked never once glancing over from the small bird she was watching that rested on a gate. Her napkin had already taken on the look of a swan. Sadly, that was the only folding she knew at the time and was all she could get done before a hand came over and rested on her arm.
"Mind your manners." Sirene whispered to her 'daughter'.

Kain nodded back before responding "Im sure they won't be too much trouble, after all there dosn't seem to be a personality clash, but i must ask, may we sit down?"
Bethan glared over at the table seeing the Herald for the first time. Ever since she found Kain in her home she'd been starting to see heralds everywhere, almost as if it was just plain normal to find a angel or demon dying out in the cold. She gave a quick look over Yuki taking in her main features, but it was a little too soon to try and work out what scarfice was made for her life. She was lucky with Kain, no scarfice needed. The other things she noticed was that the herald was dressed well for the occansion and seems quite creative or at least bored. Bethan sighed to herself and smiled at the two trying her best to do what Tamuril taught her 'being polite'. "Pleasure to meet you both, Yuki, Sirene."
Kain moved closer to the table, almost certain that Yuki must be a herald, just from the way that Sirene had explained, she had wings, and she was 'under her protection' it didn't make sense to say that unless you were looking after someone elses child. The thought it might be a herald filled Kain with a little more warmth. It was easier for a Herald to understand his position than any other species.
Other than the double booking nothing was going particular bad at this point for Kain, except maybe the crowd outside, but he wouldn't have to worry about them till they were leaving. The other worry he had was although the resteraut was well established it didn't cater to the 'disabled' as well as he hoped. Since it was close to the season of halloween most had assumed that his blindfold was just for show, but he hadn't yet been offered anything to help him read or be directed anywhere such as the gents. Luckily though, he hadn't been questioned on the swirling mist. Though the air was dry so there wasn't too much trouble there.

"Oh yes. Where are my manners?" Sirene smiled as she motioned to the two empty chairs across from herself and Yuki. Black wooden chairs with a white cushion. They were very simple but comfortable. Without arm rests, everyone was tempted to lean against the table, still, now with two more guest, Sirene was hoping that Yuki would be the perfect princess she could be.
Yuki's blue eyes remained on Sirene, ignoring the new comers to the table. At first, one couldn't be sure what the small girl appeared upset about as she had just seemed content staring out the window. Unseen by anyone, unless that person was standing directly over the two females, was a secret tug-a-war match over a napkin folded like a swan. Secert meanings passed between the two yet never a word was spoken. This was a normal event for the pair was Yuki hated giving up and Sirene vowed to teach the girl respect not just in practice.
"Fine." Thirty seconds. A new record for the human woman who now pulled the napkin from under the table and placed it, still as a swan back onto the white cloth. It was at that moment that Yuki finally glanced over towards the pair coming towards the table. Her expression never changed but her eyes lept from the woman to the blind-folded man. Already she could feel that the woman was not completely at ease with the situation but the male was something else. Wings, a blind-fold and what appeared to be some type of mist around him. Yuki already knew there was more to him that one glance could tell.
"Once again, I apologize. I do hope we won't be a bother to you two." Sirene spoke again as she looked back at the woman, a friendly smile on her face. "You have every right to be upset but I hope that things don't come to blows." The last part was a bit of a joke as Sirene catch sight of a waiter eyeing their very strange mixture at the table.
Yuki's eyes never left Kain as Sirene tried to make small talk with their guests. She already knew he was a herald, the wings gave it away to her, yet what confused her the most was that blind-fold. At first, she couldn't figure out if he was truly blind or just a fashion statement. Looking at the rest of him, she didn't see how either could work. One way to find out.
"Mr. Kain, do you need any help?" Yuki asked before Sirene could say a word to either. Still, the child's face never changed as she watched the male even more now. A small yet bad habit she had: figuring the others out.

Kain casually overlooked the small fight under the table, thinking to himself if it wasn't them fighting it would be him and Bethan. Well in the case of overlooked...rather than seeing, trying to block out the hiss from the two and the tension created by them both. Bethan on the other hand only smiled to herself picking up the menu, she was going to keep pretty much to herself unless spoken to. After-all these people wern't meant to be sitting at the same table...she would of loved a fight with the waiter, but they had been so gracious it would too rude even for Bethan to decline the gesture.
Realising the focus of the table had changed, Kain felt a little uneasy, trying to guess what was next. At first it seemed to be Sirene...mainly to Bethan he guessed but then a question was asked directly towards himself. Normally he would find out a lot more about the other person before dialog even began but this didn't seem to be the case. He paled slightly, not that he or Bethan noticed. "No, no....im quite alright here. Why do you ask?" he asked nerviously trying to remove the focus from himself. At the same time, he kind of hoped that Bethan would just order for him this time rather than going through the cruel process of spelling out the menu for him. For her it was easy, there were often pictures to help, and Tamuril had taught her the names of the common meals, so she would not have to worry about reading. Kain on the other hand, could not read if he tried....unless it was brille and he was a bit rusty there.

Yuki’s pale eyes never stopped looking at Kain until he gave her an answer. One of the first lessons she had learned was that staring was rude, taught in thanks to a woman who would not stop staring at her wings. A few well placed comments about acting foolish had sent the woman quickly walking in the opposite direction. Still, Sirene had taken the time to make sure Yuki knew better. Here and now, that seemed to fly out the window. Kain stirred something within her that she wished to understand more. Best way to do that was to either watch or ask questions. Yuki planned to do both.
“No reason.” She sighed, easily not satisfied with his answer. As she looked away and back towards the window, she could watch his reflection in the glass. It couldn’t be called staring, could it? Either way, she still wanted to figure out one thing, why was there a small amount of what appeared to be mist floating around him?
Sirene had decided to follow Bethan’s example and picked up her menu. With a large craving for chicken, the rest of the menu was easily over looked, something her stomach would hate her for but her wallet would be thankful. From behind the menu, she glanced at the sword herald and shook her head. “Yuki, do you know what you want? Or do you want me to just order you something?”
Yuki could feel the tension around the table. Anyone who looked over at them could see the agreement was not up to what either pair wished for. One looked uneasy, the of them seemed horribly upset, and she, well, truly didn’t care. Why should she? They had done their best and, as long as they didn’t mess up their orders next, what else could go wrong?

Kain still felt pretty uncomfortable...that question had put him a little on edge, it seemt like there was something more to it but he couldn't quite place what that was. The heralds answer put him in no way at ease, even Bethan overlooked the situation completely. At least this wasn't the first time it had happened, although every time caught him off guard. He fidgeted a little but didn't say anything at first for the sake of manners. The best course of action would proberly be to wait until he was spoken to or at least wait until another question arose. Why did they have to sit in such a formal place with people he didn't know? At least down the town or up near the park he could just walk away from the situation if he chose. Though even these thoughts dug into Kain's insecurities. He repeated to himself softly "Im not a coward...just catious thats all. He had used this once as a child, when the others picked on him, it had been a long time but the phase still gave him the little strength he needed.
The hybrid folded up her menu and placed it neatly at the end of the table ready for when either a waiter or waitress came to serve them again. She re-positioned herself slightly to face Kain more than the rest of the table. The idea was that she spend more time with her 'son' for the sake of bonding. It wasn't like they were ever going to have a child of their own...it was almost impossible - almost at least. "Although I...we don't want to be here all night, since we are out for a change, I think we should go for a starter then a main course right?" Kain wanted to say something about fact they never managed to stay anywhere long together but kept it to himself. "You mean a full three course meal....are you sure we have enough?" Bethan glared at him. Tamuril had saved for months for something like this, and had gathered quite a lot of money for them to share unkown to Kain. For the young herald involved this was a complete suprise...for Bethan it had been months of presuading. "Of course we have enough! Don't be so rude you little de-" she snapped at him, completely oblivious to the other guests. The only reason she had stopped was for the sake Tamuril, if this went wrong, she wouldn't be forgiven easily. "Look, we came out to dine...so is there anything you want in particular, or shall we go for the house special"
Kain Nigel turned away from his guardian, this to Bethan would be reguarded as submissieve behavior, as it was not possible for the herald to look away from her. He did want to choose a meal, and she knew it, this was some kind of punishment. If he did decide to choose a meal she would make a deal out of reading the whole list, if not though at least he had a chance at keeping some pride in front of the strangers. His stomach rumbled reminding him that if there was food involved it was much better to take dive and get something he liked rather than be forced to eat some luxury dish he hated. "Yes...soup of the day...and then some sort of spicey lamb" he crossed his fingers hoping that both were on the menu. Soup was offered in most resturants at least he just wasn't so sure on the lamb.
