Surprised there was no thread already. To the uninitiated: Satyricon is a black metal band founded in 1990 and hailing from Oslo, Norway. Their music falls into two halves: old school 2nd wave BM (Dark Medieval Times, The Shadowthrone, and Nemesis Divina) and more melodic, deathy stuff (Rebel Extravaganza, Volcano, and Now, Diabolical).
I, of course, am more partial to the latter part of their career. Now, Diabolical was just a peculiar album, though--it didn't really sound like BM anymore, to be honest.

I've only heard their newer stuff. And a good band would allow two tracks that sound similar sit next to each other on the same cd. talk2hand However, I do like the songs I've heard. 3nodding I just cant listen to large amounts of the band.

MegaTherion777 when did your laptop crash? Some years ago. Luckily I hadn't stored anything really important on it. It was still rather new when it crashed. Only my m00six and some anime got deleted.

I love satyricon, and I do like their new stuff on Now, Diabolical.
Satyr did state that they take more rock aspects to their music, so it's not going to sound totally BM...
Regardless, I like them a lot, and I think they play well live. If a band can emulate the sound on their albums live, then they are good in my book (but of course the music has to sound bitchin' on the album first razz )
and I mean bands that suck on stage
*cough cough* COF *cough*

@Mop: Oh, I didn't mind Now, DIabolical myself. It's just that it was a strange record for them to make, given their origins--like when Dissection came back from limbo with Reinkaos. I'm especially worried with what the new one is going to sound like now that they apparently were picked up by RR. But maybe I'm wrong, 3 Inches of Blood are also signed to RR, and they're pretty good.
