The uni-tailed colt snuffled at the ground, then took one last glance over his shoulder toward his sire and the Kiwani maiden... Tashika sat perched on Imrikalto's dark back, leaning back to watch the birds flutter through the trees. It didn't look like they'd miss him... Ash grinned in triumph and reared, cantering down the forest path. His strides were high and light, tail lashing behind him. "What to do? Where to go?" He hummed to himself, grinning at the prospect of an adventure.

The sound of small hoof beats against a nearby path had quickly caught the attention of the dark mare as she had been wandering through her forest home. Rarely did anyone come through here and if they did most were family. So this new presence was high priority on her attention.
She roamed about in the shadows. Dark eyes scanning the path until they landed upon a dark blue foal. Now just who would let their child wander through here all willy nilly, and by themselves no less? There were more things in this world to be afraid of than just shadows.
Firefly flicked her long, two toned tail before stepping out onto the path. A few yards ahead of the colt. Ears moving back and forth as she watched him hum. Seemingly careless, or perhaps more light hearted about the world around him. A small nicker came as she tilted her head. Long mane falling about her shoulders as she inspected him more so as he drew near. "My, you must certainly be pretty brave to be wandering here little one."

He skidded to a stop instantly, tucking his haunches under him, uni-tail wrapping around his forelegs. Silver eyes as bright as stars were wide with surprise and unsurety. The dark mare seemed vaguely familiar, and not exactly threatening... His father and Tashika weren't far... "Not really..." He said honestly, grinning slightly. "My Papa is just a few minutes back that way..." He flicked his tail back in the direction he'd come, then shifted slightly. He cleared his throat and bobbed his head in a greeting. "Sorry Ma'am... I'm Ash, Ashrialto... Nice to meet you... Is this your section of the forest? Because I don't want to be where I'm not s'posed to... But Papa said Grandmama lived out here sooooooomewhere..." He trailed off, thinking he'd said too much...

She lowered her head slightly. Taking a few steps towards the colt and giving him a few sniffs. A quick look over before quirking an eyebrow. Well, the only one she knew who lived out here was her. "Ashrialto, hm?" The name was fairly similar to her mate's and her son's.
"Your grandmama you say? Well, I'm the only one who lives out here." Her tail flicked thoughtfully as she lifted her head once more. Peering down the path as if trying to spot anything through the trees. Lips pursed. "And your father's name is?"

He lay his ears back, shifting in nervousness as she snuffled him. He snorted softly, glancing around the forest, then back to her. She was the only one who lived out here? But... But... Papa had said... His ears drooped, silver eyes looking sad, voice soft. "Papa said... Papa said grandma lives out here... I just, wanted to meet her... He said soon... But soon is still, not now..." He tried to make the impatience sound less spoiled than it felt. "Papa is Imrikalto.. He's back up in the glade with Tashika... She wanted to see the birds... She loves birds."

The dark mare chuckled lightly at the sound of impatience in his voice. Giving her head a light shake. Impatient as always. The boys of her family always were. Of course, now that he had spoken his father's name she was more than sure that they were related now.
"I think I might know who your grandma is." Lowering her head, she nipped at his little ear lightly. "She's standing in front of you right now. Just gotta open your eyes, little one."

As nice as the dark mare was, he jumped at her words. She was? Grandmama was more enticing an idea than this nice stranger... He stuck his head between her forelegs and wiggled under her, looking past her. "The only one I see is you..." He muttered, trotting back around to face her. "And while you looked familiar..." He tilted his head. "Are you my grandmama?" A wide smile crossed his little muzzle, eyes wide and shining at the idea. "REALLY?"

Another chuckle came as he wiggled beneath her. Although a bit slow on the get go, he eventually figured it out.
"Yes." Her voice was slightly lower now. His excitement and wide grin so much reminded her of Imrikalto as a foal. It was a breath of fresh air. Quite a few new foals had been born into the family, though she had yet to inspect these new ones. At least Imri had kept his words and brought this one to see her.
Giving him another look over, Firefly flicked her tail. "Grandma Firefly." It wasn't the first time she'd been called it. Nor she doubted the last. Hell, even now she was already a great grandmother. Though seeing her grandchildren did leave that sense that she was indeed getting older. "Well then Ashrialto. Have you been being a good boy for your father? Tell me the truth cause I'll know if you're lying." Her body turned slightly as she pivoted on her hooves, motioning with her head for him to follow her. She'd walk him back to his father eventually but for now she'd rather spend some alone time with her grandson.

Ok, so walking under her and looking probably wasn't the brightest thing he could have done... But unless one was looking, one didn't really see the resemblance... Then again, he took more after his mother, only darkened by his sire's color and marked with red dapples... The color that came from his granddam, the markings from his grandsire... "Grandma Firefly!" He laughed and pranced around her, rearing up to nuzzle at her chin, tail flailing happily. "Of course I've been good!" He met her eye squarely, he hadn't gotten the chance to get into mischief... At the silent invitation to walk with her, he pranced along, obviously in high spirits. Let his father and Tashika watch the birds! "I haven't gotten into any mischief or gone on any adventures or anything!"

She nuzzled the young colt affectionately for a brief moment as he had reared up. Nipping at his ears as was her habit to do the foals of her family. It did, indeed, make her happy to see that her lines were spreading and being fruitful as they lived their lives. Bringing new ones into the world.
Even if she was unaware of most of this activity.
"Oh well, that's no fun. Don't you know your suppose to give your father a hard time?" Firefly laughed lightly, flicking her long tail as she walked along the path. Keeping her steps slow and steady so that he could keep up without getting tired. Though if he was like his father at this age, he was full of energy. "Adventuring can be fun, sometimes. But it can also be scary and dangerous. So just make sure you do your adventuring close to home until your a lot bigger."

"I'm SUPPOSED to give Papa a hard time?!" The Dark blue foal whined. "That's not what he said! I like your suggestion better... And since you're Papa's Mother, that means he has to listen to you too... Because you're the boss... Unless Grandpa is around.. Though, Grandpa said he listens to you too... So I guess you're always the boss... Are you always the boss?" He tilted his head and considered her as he pranced along, tail swishing to gently brush her hind legs as they walked along. He showed no signs of tiring. "I want to adventure now! I heard Uncle Aureate adventured... He's not really my uncle, but I bet you knew that.. He just lives near Tashika and the rest of us... Tashika says to be careful, but being careful is SO boring!" He chattered a mile a minute, eyes shining and smile wide.

The dark mare chuckled softly at the colt's energy. Even after all this time she was still amazed at how much could be produced from such little things. It almost seemed endless. But there was a limit to everything, she surmised.
Lifting her head slightly, Firefly gave her long two toned mane a quick toss. Lifting it back from her face as it veiled her dark features and framed her slender shoulders. "You've got that right. Grandma Firefly is always the boss no matter what anyone says." She winked before stepping over a bit of fallen brush. The path that they walked upon soon opened into a wide expanse of meadow. Rolling hills covered in new, spring grass that rolled as if they were waves in the ocean. This meadow always seemed to be an early bloomer from most.
Stepping out into the fresh sunshine, she stopped for a breath. Closing those dark red eyes with a small sigh. Taking in a deep breath of the sweet smelling grass. Firefly loved the forest in which she lived, but coming out into the open every now and again revitalized her. "In time little one. You'll be able to adventure just like your Uncle Aureate." She lowered her head slightly to give him a little n** on the cheek before raising it again. Her tail lifting slightly before she took off into a quick trot down the hillside to the flatter area of the meadow. Movements fluid like water at her long hair trailed behind her. "As long as you don't get hurt or hurt others you'll be just fine!" She called back over her shoulder before stopping on more level ground. Turning her body sideways as she glanced back up the hill towards her grandson.

Ash watched his grand-dam very carefully as he chattered. For the most part she seemed amused by him, which was good. Wasn't it? Was he being funny? He thought for a moment, but he hadn't really told any jokes... Not that he knew any jokes... He nodded sagely. "Grandma Firefly is always the boss, no matter what anyone says." He repeated dutifully as he pranced along. Boy! Wouldn't that be good to tell Papa when he fussed because Ash wanted to go adventuring? He gladly followed Firefly into the meadow, pausing with a flick of his uni-tail. At times he wished he had a flowing tail like his father, but he was starting not to mind. Though grandma's tail was aaaaawfully pretty... He giggled at the n** and reared playfully as she darted away, following after her with a ringing laugh. "I don't get hurt! I'm always reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally careful!" He promised even as he slipped and slid down the hill to a stop before her. Sitting on his hindquarters, he blinked up at her. "Well.. 'Cept for maybe just then.." He allowed with a sheepish smile.

Firefly laughed, shaking her head lightly as she took a few small steps towards the colt. Nipping at his rump to get him to stand back up and giving him a good lick behind the ears.
"Bah. That one doesn't count." She winked behind cantering a few steps further into the meadow. Her tail whipping back and forth as she held it high. A proud grandmother she was. And quite willing to show that fact off to anyone who might be watching. It did bring other thoughts to her mind, but those could be addressed later. Now was time between her and her grandson.
"So tell me Ashrialto. Do you know how to play tag?" The older mare lowered her head slightly, flicking an ear towards him as she waited for a reply. A sly grin coming to her dark lips as her eyes seemed to almost shine with glee. Firefly might of been a grandmother, but she was still in her prime! And hey, every now and again she could act like a silly yearling if she wanted.

Ash sighed at the n**, then smiled as he stood himself back up, tail swishing this way and that. He grinned at the caress and wagged his tail a little faster, laughing softly. "It doesn't!? OH GOOD!" He grinned. "Then I'm always careful..." He pranced after her once more, watching her swishing tail. "You have the prettiest tail Grandma Firefly... I wish I had a tail like that..." He liked his tail well enough, but Firefly's was soooo pretty! "Tag? I know how to play tag." He grinned. "I always catch Kaishara when her and I play..." He crouched low and met her playful look, tail lashing with cat-like strokes. He grinned widely, ears flicking this way and that. "Do YOU, Grandma Firefly?"
