Harriet Fenmoore and his daughter Alice were in the fabric store that day, looking through the fabrics to find something the child could wear for Halloween. Dartsmoore - head of an organization Hatty worked for - was throwing a rather large party at her estate at the request of her children, and as Hatty's Sweets Company was sponsoring the event and providing the candy, he and Alice were attending. Bella would be going with them too but she had to work so Hatty and Alice were out to buy the fabric on their own.
Alice wasn't completely sure what she wanted to go as - she had considered being a kitty or a witch but the child wasn't completely positive on the matter. Bella was intending to match Alice and Hatty would have to go with their theme. So first order of business was to look through the fabrics to see what was inspiring.

Nadia herself was never really one to go to the store without an idea. She had been a witch last year, and while the costume had been one of her favorites, she certainly couldn't be the same thing two years in a row! This year, she'd be Harley Quinn, the Joker's oft-abused minion (and only because her tatas were too big to strap down to be the Joker himself). She'd already stocked up on newspaper and plaster of Paris for the bomb and can of Fear Toxin, but she still needed the boots. Now she was looking for the shiny black and red leather, and some plain white fabric for the detailing. Hrm...

Alice, being ever excitable and easily distracted, noticed the woman with the odd pigtail-dreads. While her father was looking at the fabric, the winged little girl dashed off to investigate and greet the woman, barely giving Harriet a split second to turn around.
"Hiiiiiiiii! Your hair is coooooooool!" the little girl squeaked, popping up in front of Nadia and smiling hugely. Honestly, personal space and not randomly assaulting strangers with greetings were two things Hatty really had to teach her not to do.

Luckily, Nadia had always been one for sudden, happy greetings. As a general rule, she was extremely up-beat and optimistic. "Thanks!" she chimed at the little girl, crouching to her height, "Your wings are so pretty!" She reached out and touched one, running her fingers gently under them. She'd seen a few kids like her around in time.

Alice's wings fluttered at the attention, the soft feathers brushing lightly against the woman's hand. "Thank you!"
"Are you here to get fabric tooooo? Daddy's making Halloween costumes for me and my sister! We don't know what we're going as yet so we came here for ideas. What are you doing for Halloween?"

"I'm gonna be a supervillan," Nadia said, waggling her fingers at the girl, "Well, more like a supervillan's sidekick. I'm not really evil, though. I just like the costume." She giggled and stood, peering down at the little angel-girl. So cute.

"Yenno superheroes? Like Superman and Batman and Catwoman and Womderwoman?" Nadia explained, "Well, it's their arch nemesis. The people who do all the bad things they have to fix!"

Alice looked confused again. "Super-heroes?" she cocked her head to the right at that statement. "Catwoman sounds cool! Does she have kitty ears? I was going to go as a kitty for Halloween. Or a witch."
Seeing that his daughter had again found someone to talk to who didn't seem to mind, the man refrained from coming over and dragging her back towards the fabric. He did, however, keep a close eye upon the two in case someone should want to cause his daughter any trouble or snatch her away.

Nadia scratched her head. Did the b***h have kitty ears? "I...I think she does. I think." She smiled then and waved to the man watching them. That must be the daddy! Man, she'd never know what to do if she had kids of her own.

Harriet smiled politely and waved back at the woman before returning to his search for some nice fabric and watching his daughter out of the corner of his eye.
"What does your person look like? Are they colorful?" the child asked, bouncing on her heels and feeling nosy as ever.

Alice blushed at the mean looking clown woman. "She looks mean...she has guns." the child said. But, trying to look on the bright side, she grinned. "The costume is pretty, though!"
Harriet laughed silently and shook his head. Alice was such a sweetheart. She tried to find the silver lining to every cloud.
