I was in line at the grocery store and looking at the trash magazines at the rack. Womens World always catches me eye. This week it has the weight loss cure that allows you to still eat "bopper whoopers", onion rings, chocolate cookie smoothies and pizza. No wai!

I absolutely want to bang my head against the wall that people think that these no work weight loss claims have even a smidgin of truth. Or, that those crash cabbage and grapefruit diets will give long term results. (Because no one can go forever on cabbage nor grapefruit and once the "diet" is over, one goes back to the eating habits that got them in the in the fix in the first place.)

Anyways, I found out today that there are a couple of organizations that want weight loss drugs to have the same restrictions as supplements.

Every week woman's world has a different weight loss miracle.

Once while living in NY I picked up a bottle of weight loss pills after I gained a lot from being on the depo shot. I don't even remember the brand I think I just bought whatever seemed most affordable. I remember they didn't even work. It was a crazy time. neutral

Lol, that is a funny video. I actually find myself in a state of better health when I eat more often throughout the day instead of a BUNCH at once. If I eat a bunch at once, I feel like I can't move for 2 hours straight. That's never fun.

I never thought I was fat ever throughout my entire life until, one glorious day, my bf told me that I hold myself like a pregnant woman. He claims he was referring to my posture, but I've never felt skinny since lol. But I've never tried any crazy diets because of it... I probably wouldn't buy into any of them even if they really did work because I just don't trust advertisements at all. Oh, I heard of someone who took those Alli pills and apparently ended up with orange diarrhea. Lovely.

Let's see... I don't generally read up on 'fad' diets. The stupidity is too aggravating. However, if there's one claim I have heard that can be considered 'crazy,' it's the following statement:

"Anorexia isn't a disease! It's a way to control your weight!"

For serious. Silly teenagers! User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

I've only tried one diet in my life: Atkins. It worked so well I never needed to try anything else.

Looks good to me.

Asking for scientific proof is evidence of a conspiracy? o_0

I haven't read any books per se.

Junkfood that grew on a vine and was dried. Seriously.

Crazy and only diet that I tried - Atkins. Could not do it. I love vegetables and fruit far to much.

Best thing I ever did - stop going to Starbucks every day. Dropped 15 pounds. You know its bad when you pull up to the drive-thru and they can ask about your kids by name redface

I also stopped eating when I was full, even when it tasted soooo good. That was the hard part.

Did you follow the book? Fruits and vegetables are very important - always have been.

I'm just curious because often as not the people who complain of a lack of good foods in the diet didn't do much in the way of research.

I followed the book. I just love fruits and vegetables so much more than meat. All the berries are wonderful and all it is just that I wanted all the fruits I couldn't eat.
It was just not my style.

I did it because a friend wanted me to do it with her. She did great following the book and has kept the weight off.

I once did the fruit and protein shake diet. While I loved eating all that fruit, the shake was nasty cuz it was not sweetened and you had to use water. I gagged every time I had to drink it. Did lose weight...water weight: P

I used to fall for the pills. Even did Fen Phen back in the day. I try not to tell my doctors or dentists that because they freak out. I was only on it for like 3 months before I found out that it's basically speed.

I think restrictions are ok for a little bit, but in the long run, balance and moderation is the best.

Fav book Secrets of a Former Fat Girl . I read this after I lost all my weight, but it was still very interesting to read and figure out why I did some of the things I did when I was heavy. Even now I use some of the advice she talks about.

I'm just curious, who here has lost weight or is in the process of losing weight?

For me it's one step forward-two steps back (or feels that way) with weight loss. I can only knock on wood that I'm reasonably healthy. It's such a struggle. sad

I'm trying to gain weight. ninja I'd love to be ten pounds heavier. And I would like to allot 45% of that to my rear so that I may actually have something to fill out my jeans. I hate my flat butt. emo Oh, and bewbies would be nice too.

Just goes to show you that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Syera Miktayee: lol, I love my junk food. Those and dates are my favourite sweet snacks.

Yeah it took me a few years after losing a bunch of weight to finally stop gaining and losing, gaining and losing again. I've been at my lowest for about a year now. I think I figured it out what works for myself, so I hope I'll stay this way for a bit longer. It's frustrating when it comes to buying clothes, because I don't know what size I'll be say a in few months or so and I hate tight clothes.

Congrats everyone who lost weight and kept it off!

The whole yo-yo effect is definitely frustrating. xp Lately I've been eating more protein and it seems to be helping all the bouncing stop being so.. bouncy.

Damn depo shot, i got it for 2 months and decided i wanted to go back to the pill.

I started the Alli diet, but failed after 2 weeks and plan to go back on it.
If you eat anything not in the diet, you feel a wave of diarrhea as if you've done a 'no no'

Its a struggle with me too and has been for 4 years or so.
When i was 16 i was so desperate i was pretty much starving myself only eating apples and drinking water. But was so out of energy after only 1 week, i couldn't do it anymore.

Now im on a regular eating and exercising schedule, and my calves are getting more muscular..which is not what i want gonk
