The Earth, Moon and Dawn
Long ago in the dark void, there was nothing but a large mass of matter. The matter finally exploded with such force that all of the matter that was kept within it spread itself across the newly created universe. Some of the matter gathered together to form stars and suns. Others created whole planets, a blank slate for any god or goddess to come and shape to their liking. There was, however, a planet of molten mass that the deities didn't not care for. It was too hot to even set foot upon it. The fire deities were already preoccupied with other planets and figured that they would come back later.
This planet soon formed masses of moving forms. These forms were giants and when the world cooled, these beings finally had a solid form. The planet was dark from the rich earth and the charred rocks. These beings, walked upon the world, creating steep basins with every step and stride. Earth split open beneath their feet and molten rock dripped from the crevices of these giants, creating hills. Clouds were formed from the hot steam of their breaths, which eventually came down to the ground as rain. They sowed the world and tended to the plant life that sprouted from the mineral rich soil. Eventually, these titans died off and their corpses became the mountains of the planet.
Grass, flowers, trees, weeds and other plants grew tall and untamed. They wrapped themselves around the planet, almost consuming the entire world, save for the dry cold mountains and the vast seas. In the depths of the mountains, where the old giants were fused to the earth, new beings came forth in several explosions around the world. The tops of the mountains spewed fire and black smoke as these new giants crept out from the volcanic structures. These new giants were not as large as their predecessors but still a force to be reckoned with. They were giants of rock and crystals with tremendous powers. They tended to the planet as the generation before them had. These giants called themselves the Colossi.
The Colossi created creatures of all shapes and sizes from their power. Each time one was created, their power would drop by a small amount. Eventually, animals and insects populated the world. They lived and died for the power of the Colossi was only for one life time and nothing more. Most of the Colossi died out from the complete loss of power and once more fused with the planet as large rock formations or small mountains. The remaining Colossi created temples which were raised from the earth itself. Each one to house a Colossus when the time to rest came. A final temple was brought into existence at the origin where the first titan took their first step. In the temple were stone carvings and tall statues that were pillars to support the roof. Crystals and gems sprouted around the temple. The temple lead down into the depths of the earth where the Colossi rested from their loss of power. When the temple was finally finished, the Colossi went to their respective temples and fell into deep slumber.
Animals and insects hunted and grazed without interference. They all lived and died, untouched by anything but nature itself. One day, the deities from the other worlds arrived and looked upon this world with awe. They marveled at the breath taking sight of the planet and wondered which other deity would leave the beautiful untamed and without someone to look after it. They then created the Zunanma, the first civilization to populate the world. They were to look after the wild world before the deities themselves left the world to take care of their own worlds they had created. One of them stayed behind to look after the Zunanma themselves.
A lunar goddess by the name of Umbetta held the power over the world's energy distribution. When the world was found, the energies from the colossi were scattered unevenly throughout the planet. Umbetta sought to fix that by gathering and redistributing them through the moon. She knew very well that she was unable to store such a large amount in the world so the moon was the best place to hold it all. It was away from the planet so no mortal could take it be force at the time.
All she had to do was the move the moon around the world and that was it. Eventually, the goddess wanted to seek companionship and help from the Zananma. She already had followers but they were unable to move the moon at all. Umbetta sought to fix that problem by taking a mortal husband and bearing children. She raised her offspring and taught them what they needed to know to help her. They were the first grand archsages of the world.
Umbetta's descendants were eventually called Cylons, the crystal people of the moon. They were much different than the Zananma since they were able to manipulate and absorb energies more easily. Their eyes glowed in the dark as the world's power ran in their veins. Their ears were pointed and sensitive to listening to Umbetta's beckoning from a distance. Most had paler skin for they were always awake at night.
This closeness to the goddess made the Zananma uneasy around the Cylons. The new race was often regarded as a demi-god race for this fact. Like all people, not many took too kindly on this. When the other gods returned, the Zananma asked for another patron deity if Umbetta ever saw them in an unkind eye. They wanted to have a balance of power and not let the lunar goddess have the only access to the world's energies.
The gods could not spare one of their seniors but there was a child deity that could stay instead. They left a young goddess, Ashunera of the Dawn. She was Umetta's blood relative through their father. The goddess of the dawn was ushered away from the lunar goddess in the hopes of preserving her from Umetta's influence.
Ashunera grew up alongside of the Zunanma and watched over them as a goddess should. The people loved her deeply and in turn, they protected her from whatever danger the world presented to her. The Cylon were curious of the dawn goddess but all were barred from even being in the same area as she. Ashunera was naive and blinded from the fact of the Cylons and Umetta existing along side her.
Umetta on the other hand was less than pleased to find out who Ashunera was. At first she had thought the younger goddess was a prodigy child and thought of her no more. However, things had changed and the truth was found out by the lunar goddess. Umetta pushed her way through the Zananma's defenses in order to see Ashunera for herself. This was the first time a deity had used their powers on mortals in the world.
Many Zananmas shrunk in fear of the lunar goddess. They begged for Ashunera to help them. She met with Umetta and demanded to know the cause of the lunar goddess's hostility. The goddess of the dawn believed that Umetta was a misguided entity until their blood relation was revealed. Umetta took her turn asking why the goddess of dawn was so ignorant of the facts at hand. After a whirlwind of knowledge had been traded, Ashunera was more confused as ever.
Before Umetta had the chance to comfort her, a group of Ashunera's followers charged in. They claimed that Umetta was an evil goddess since she used her powers against the people. Mis-communications continued between them until Umetta was chased off by Ashunera's forces. The lunar goddess informed her Cylons of the event. She warned them that the Zananma may not listen and have claimed that she was an evil influence. Without a way to properly communicate to Ashunera, there would be conflict.
The conflict came in the form of genocide. A war was waged between Ashunera's and Umetta's forces. The Zananma were pushing on the offensive attack, claiming that their crusades against Umetta would free the world of evil. The Cylons on the other hand were on the defensive and attempted to get to the goddess of dawn. The Cylons wanted a negotiation but they were denied by the fanatics of Ashunera.
Eventually, Umetta started to beg the other deities to help save her people. Most turned away from the lunar goddess, stating that her people must pass their reign back to the Zananma. The goddess seethed in silent rage as her people retreated into the ancient temples of the Colossi. It was here that Umetta found a temporary solution to their situation. Inscribed in the walls of the temple were the history of the Colossi and how to awaken them. Umetta decided that she would speak to one of them for an answer.
She used her powers to restore the Sky Colossus, Avion, back to life. There the two talked over the options that her people had. A solution was found to preserve the Cylons. They could be moved away to a different world or sleep in the earth as crystals. Umetta turned to her people and asked them which options they wanted. Some wanted to stay, everyone else wanted to leave.
The decision was split and Umetta tried to do both. She asked neighboring worlds for a place to stay for her people. Only one accepted to let the Cylons have refuge. The head deity was a high ranking goddess of the forge, Piper. Umetta and Piper made their agreements and began to move the Cylon people off their home world.
Piper had forged gates for the Cylons to pass through from their world to their new home. Umetta placed the gates near the temples of the Colossi so that it was easier for the Cylons to escape through them.
While the war raged on between the Cylons and the Zananma, Ashunera could feel the powers of Piper at work. She was greatly alarmed and frightened of such powerful deity. The Zananma took this as an omen and became even more aggressive. The Cylon forces were quickly overwhelmed with this sudden reaction.
However, the Cylons had already escaped or had gone into hiding with the Colossi. The Zananma now only faced Umetta herself. She warned them that if she was to fall, there would be no way to collect or distribute the world's energy without help from the Cylons. The lunar goddess then took the power away from the gates to make her final stand against the Zananma.
The fight was long and difficult for both sides of the battle. Umetta was extremely outnumbered but she was able to make a compromise with her abilities as a goddess. In the end, she had to retreat into a Avion's temple and blocked off entry. In the temple, she was able to rest and hide with Avion when the Zananma finally broke through the barrier.
The Zananma were not able to find Umetta's presence and claimed victory of the war. They began to celebrate, not knowing that Umetta was still watching them. She awaited the day when the Cylons would awaken from sleep and return home.
As the civilization of the Zunanma spread, the people evolved into two races, the Beorc and the Laguz. The differences started a conflict between the two races and eventually led to war. Ashunera attempted to soothe the two races and recreate the peace that was once widespread. However, neither side would hear her desperate pleas.
Ashunera's emotions took the better of her and a great flood drowned most of the world except for the continent of Tellius.
