The Two-Faced Moon

In the beginning there were just gods, creatures, Titans and giants in the Chaotic Realm. Many times wars erupted between the gods, dragons, Titans and giants. Dragons often were given the task of guarding the lower ranked creatures of the earth from both Titans and giants while the gods themselves were on the front lines of war. Most of these gods returned exhausted from the constant fights against these giants and Titans. Almost half the time they were almost beaten into defeat. These constant eruptions of war gave the realm its name of Chaotic.

Often the Chaotic Gods themselves kept the battles from exploding onto the other realms. Such destruction would have been disastrous in the void. The gods from the other realms offered to help but almost none were taken. Advice was given and they were used to full extent but of course nothing changed of the constant war status.

The other gods suggested an ally. A weaker version of the gods themselves but still powerful. This they took into mind with volunteers from the population. The weaker versions had perks. They had the speed that few gods can attain at an early age. Angels, that was what they were referred to. Demi-Gods were also another name for these beings but they were more artificial, thus used as the front line defense as well as the last before the gods themselves. The more wings they had, the more power they appeared to have and thus a class ranking system was unintentionally created because of the wings.

For a time, the system worked but angels from the lower class started to rebel and often joined the ranks of the Titans against their own brethren. The gods were at a delima once more as more angels joined the Titans' ranks of war. Now this time they asked for help, they needed another ally that was less likely to rebel. Inflated egos and explosive tempers were characteristics of the chaotic realm's deity population. They wanted an ally which was based off another realm.

The gods from the different realms discussed the issue. One set was chosen to the be models for the new ally race: the Type Realm Shinso. The Shinso were close to god-like but they had almost ninety percent of their power in reserve. That made them perfect candidates for the new race: humans.

They had the grace and cold logic calculations to counter the Chaotic traits. Thus when humans were created, they were a breed with both Type and Chaotic traits. A balanced combination? Perhaps but there was one flaw, they were mortal and they died easily compared to their original counterparts. Nevertheless, the humans raised from bumbling cavemen to a civilization that worshiped the gods which they knew. No one had told these humans that they were created off the blueprints of a race of vampires.

As time passed, the chaos erupted amongst the humans. Civilians caught in the crossfire of war. Gods had to keep peace although some started up the argument in the first place out of spite of others. The constant wars finally forced the Chaotics to accept help from the others. The Shinso complied, feeling that this was their problem as well. They helped create the humans in the Chaotic realm, they might as well fix the problem.

The leaders of the Shinso, Type-Moon and Crimson Brunestud were personally asked for help by the gods. Having the two strongest of the Shinso to help was considered a smart move back then but now looked upon as a mistake. Dealing with the Shinso back then was like gambling with someone that had loaded dice. They asked for one thing back then, to be able to settle in the Chaotic realm. The gods agreed hastily, not listening to Cain's (the Chaotic God of Time) warning of a series of Vampire Wars to follow.

First, the Shinso were placed into positions of power to handle the humans. However, later the gods of the Chaotic Realm started to notice the rapid decline in the human population. They confronted the Shinso of the matter and discovered their horrifying secret. The Shinso had an insatiable blood lust that many try to keep under control with the majority of their own power.

Rumors spread like wildfire. The humans in their paranoia attacked the Shinso in a blind massacre. Blood spill flooded the rivers and soaked into the ground, never washed away completely. Some of the Shinso snapped and lost control of their blood lust with their rage of their fallen kin. These Fallen Shinso were the first of the demons to roam the lands of Earth. They gorged themselves on the human blood, finding a taste and thirst that cannot be satisfied. They gave into their hate and blood lust to become Demon Lords.

They liked their released power. They were no longer reserved for keeping back the blood lust that the Shinso were so careful of hiding for the sake of their sanity. They used their locked powers and eventually set out to take down the gods themselves. Type-Moon, the King of the White Moon warned the celestials along with the Chaotic Time God and Chaotic God of Sorcery about the Demon Lords but they were dismissed. The gods believed that they were the most powerful of the realm but soon fell to the mercy of the Demon Lords. The Chaotic Gods held a counsel and enlisted Type-Moon to help in the first of the Vampire Wars along with the other Shinso.

The plan was agreed upon, though many Shinso, gods, angels and humans alike were slain with heavy casualties. Type-Moon made a last ditch effort to take down the Demon Lords by raising the dead Shinso. First he raised his own brother, Crimson Moon, from the grave thus creating the first Dead Apostle. This gave the Shinso and the celestials an edge over the demon lords as the numbers once again rose. Dead Apostles were weaker in the sun but more lithe and just as powerful as the Demon Lords.

The war continued until the victorious side was decided almost eight thousand years later. The end result was the Demon Lords stripped of the majority of their powers by Styx (the Chaotic God of Sorcery) and became mere mortal demons. They no longer reigned supreme over the gods or the Shinso but they were still considerably stronger than the humans. In this way, the gods created an item to limit their power and placed it over every demon to contain them. Some of the Shinso retreated back to their home realm, the others stayed with the Dead Apostles in the Chaotic Realm. Type-Moon was among the ones that stayed with his Dead Apostle Brother who was now the King of the Crimson Moon.

With the Dead Apostle removed of their limits due to fear of insanity, they were free to taste blood. However, it came at the price of becoming dependent on blood to survive. At this, most of the Dead Apostles hunted the lowly demons for their once vampiric blood and high mana concentration. As the human population increased, they became fearful of both demons and the Dead Apostles. Thus came the founding of the Brimestone Society to handle the Dead Apostles for there were many of them. Eventually the numbers of the Dead Apostles declined from being repeatedly killed and tortured by Brimestone. Demons then came to join Brimestone to take revenge on the Dead Apostles that had hunted them indiscriminately.

Now the tables have turned once again as Brimestone rose in power and force. The Dead Apostles then created minions to fetch blood for them so they may hide from Brimestone Society. These minions became common as time went on. They became the face of the vampiric race as the Dead Apostles and Shinso were forgotten. They were called vampires. Just that, no special term or significant title, just vampires. These vampires were dead-dead, unlike the Dead Apostles who were able to continue living after a period of time. These vampires were unable to breed unless of course, they drunk the blood of a higher ranked vampiric race such as the Dead Apostles or the Shinso themselves.

Alas, the ancient races were forgotten as the vampires multiplied by creating more vampires through trial and error. The inexperienced ones would get ghouls or the living dead while those who have perfected the technique created more vampires. The numbers grew at an alarming rate to the point where Brimestone declared war on all vampiric races, setting forth the Second Vampire War which took almost seventeen hundred years. The Dead Apostles took notice and hid in the homes of the Shinsos for the time being, preferring to starve than to participate in another war again.

Casualties were high on both sides though the Shinso remained unharmed for the most part. The populations of all the races were soon balanced out but the hate and fear of each other remained even to this day. Brimestone had still wanted to purge all vampiric races from the face of the Earth. They contacted the dragons for information and they were given the volumes of vampiric history that were recorded throughout the times, which pulled both ancient races of Shinso and Dead Apostle from the forgotten eras of the past and back into the light of the present. Demons went into a frenzy after re-discovering their lost history and soon were banished and now targeted by Brimestone.

The hate does not stop for the demons declared war once more, but this time this was a three way war. Vampirics against demons and Brimestone, making a third Vampire War which lasted only for two thousand years. The vampires were victors of survival, the Dead Apostles and Shinso were experts at evading conflicts while the underlings were at the front lines. The strongest of the demons were forced underground into the pits of hell while the rest were stranded and scattered. The humans on the other hand had exhausted their resources and pulled out from the war which became a draw.

Then there was the banished Shadow Realm researchers, siblings. They came with their knowledge to change the vampiric war battlefields but this is another story. . . . .

The Story of the Lives, Deaths and Rebirths of the Fated Siblings

In the Shadow Realm where the Twili reside, there were two siblings who were respected for their knowledge of sorcery and science. Roa, the brother was the head of technological advances of the Twili. Rune, the sister was gifted in her mastery over the lost art of Twili magic becoming a member of the royal family in rank. These two often worked together to create or discover new things or re-discover parts of Twili history.

However, one project was barred from legal research. This was the creation of super soldiers, to fight in a war against the realm of light that had shunned the Twili from long ago. Roa knew vengeance and he was driven by it during his research of the project. He attempted to recruit his sister but she refused every time she was asked. However, one day, he tricked his sister into helping him by pleading her into opening a portal into another world. He leaped in and came back with vials of blood to her horror. She flew into a furious rage before she was arrested along with her brother. Both of them stood before the Twili court for judgment.

Roa was still as stone until Rune's sentence was declared. She was to be sent into the void while Roa was banished into a different realm of existence. He voiced his outrage but was silenced as he was thrown into the Chaotic Realm. He watched his twin thrown into the Void as he fell into the portal. He landed in a world of light. Where colors were vibrant and beaming in several shades and values. The sight almost blinded him as he opened his eyes to the sunlit world. Accustomed to the dark world of the Twilight, Roa made his way around the strange new area until he found a spot in the cliff-side tunnels to do his research, though he now had to start over from scratch. He labored over his work, until it bore fruit of the first sign of success: a medallion that increased one's power almost a hundred times. It was enough to do the job but he needed more to have an army. With an army, he could easily defeat and destroy anything that came in his way.

He sought out to find someone to help him. He needed people, test subjects to explore the limits of the medallion's power. Roa struck a deal with a power hungry human king. This king was wealthy and his army was massive. He wanted a demonstration of the medallion from Roa to see it's power for himself. Roa agreed but only to take test subjects from the kingdom as much as he needed. He told this king, that he would create soldiers that will be powerful enough to stand with gods on a equal footing but nothing more until he had more information to make it even stronger. It was done, the deal was made after the demonstration of the power. The king's was burning with greed but he was patient enough to let his investment grow as it may.

Time passed and Roa continued his research by taking citizens and forcing them through brutal mental training to steel themselves for whatever mental backlash the medallion may throw at them. He pushed for physical training as well after taking note of the physical pain the subjects endured from the medallion. In the end all of the subjects either went insane or died from the tests. The king often visited to see the progress of the information gathering and was more than surprised by new results and new medallions. Roa wanted the perfect medallion. . . The perfect soldier but he was running out of healthy people. He gave the king some of the medallions he had created but warned of the effects it had.

Roa told the king to capture as many healthy prisoners as he can find through war. Whether it be men, women, children, nobles, hermits or soldiers, he needed them to be healthy enough for further experiments to perfect the medallion. He also asked for scholars to assist him in the research since he could not oversee all of the experiments at a faster rate. The king agreed and went to war with the medallions to neighboring countries. He sent prisoners of war to Roa.

Research speed was increased and more improved medallions were created. No matter how much he tried, they were not good enough for him. Never the less, he continued until he finally declared to star over from scratch and modify the humans themselves to become the perfect soldier.

The Earth, Moon and Dawn

Long ago in the dark void, there was nothing but a large mass of matter. The matter finally exploded with such force that all of the matter that was kept within it spread itself across the newly created universe. Some of the matter gathered together to form stars and suns. Others created whole planets, a blank slate for any god or goddess to come and shape to their liking. There was, however, a planet of molten mass that the deities didn't not care for. It was too hot to even set foot upon it. The fire deities were already preoccupied with other planets and figured that they would come back later.

This planet soon formed masses of moving forms. These forms were giants and when the world cooled, these beings finally had a solid form. The planet was dark from the rich earth and the charred rocks. These beings, walked upon the world, creating steep basins with every step and stride. Earth split open beneath their feet and molten rock dripped from the crevices of these giants, creating hills. Clouds were formed from the hot steam of their breaths, which eventually came down to the ground as rain. They sowed the world and tended to the plant life that sprouted from the mineral rich soil. Eventually, these titans died off and their corpses became the mountains of the planet.

Grass, flowers, trees, weeds and other plants grew tall and untamed. They wrapped themselves around the planet, almost consuming the entire world, save for the dry cold mountains and the vast seas. In the depths of the mountains, where the old giants were fused to the earth, new beings came forth in several explosions around the world. The tops of the mountains spewed fire and black smoke as these new giants crept out from the volcanic structures. These new giants were not as large as their predecessors but still a force to be reckoned with. They were giants of rock and crystals with tremendous powers. They tended to the planet as the generation before them had. These giants called themselves the Colossi.

The Colossi created creatures of all shapes and sizes from their power. Each time one was created, their power would drop by a small amount. Eventually, animals and insects populated the world. They lived and died for the power of the Colossi was only for one life time and nothing more. Most of the Colossi died out from the complete loss of power and once more fused with the planet as large rock formations or small mountains. The remaining Colossi created temples which were raised from the earth itself. Each one to house a Colossus when the time to rest came. A final temple was brought into existence at the origin where the first titan took their first step. In the temple were stone carvings and tall statues that were pillars to support the roof. Crystals and gems sprouted around the temple. The temple lead down into the depths of the earth where the Colossi rested from their loss of power. When the temple was finally finished, the Colossi went to their respective temples and fell into deep slumber.

Animals and insects hunted and grazed without interference. They all lived and died, untouched by anything but nature itself. One day, the deities from the other worlds arrived and looked upon this world with awe. They marveled at the breath taking sight of the planet and wondered which other deity would leave the beautiful untamed and without someone to look after it. They then created the Zunanma, the first civilization to populate the world. They were to look after the wild world before the deities themselves left the world to take care of their own worlds they had created. One of them stayed behind to look after the Zunanma themselves.

A lunar goddess by the name of Umbetta held the power over the world's energy distribution. When the world was found, the energies from the colossi were scattered unevenly throughout the planet. Umbetta sought to fix that by gathering and redistributing them through the moon. She knew very well that she was unable to store such a large amount in the world so the moon was the best place to hold it all. It was away from the planet so no mortal could take it be force at the time.

All she had to do was the move the moon around the world and that was it. Eventually, the goddess wanted to seek companionship and help from the Zananma. She already had followers but they were unable to move the moon at all. Umbetta sought to fix that problem by taking a mortal husband and bearing children. She raised her offspring and taught them what they needed to know to help her. They were the first grand archsages of the world.

Umbetta's descendants were eventually called Cylons, the crystal people of the moon. They were much different than the Zananma since they were able to manipulate and absorb energies more easily. Their eyes glowed in the dark as the world's power ran in their veins. Their ears were pointed and sensitive to listening to Umbetta's beckoning from a distance. Most had paler skin for they were always awake at night.

This closeness to the goddess made the Zananma uneasy around the Cylons. The new race was often regarded as a demi-god race for this fact. Like all people, not many took too kindly on this. When the other gods returned, the Zananma asked for another patron deity if Umbetta ever saw them in an unkind eye. They wanted to have a balance of power and not let the lunar goddess have the only access to the world's energies.

The gods could not spare one of their seniors but there was a child deity that could stay instead. They left a young goddess, Ashunera of the Dawn. She was Umetta's blood relative through their father. The goddess of the dawn was ushered away from the lunar goddess in the hopes of preserving her from Umetta's influence.

Ashunera grew up alongside of the Zunanma and watched over them as a goddess should. The people loved her deeply and in turn, they protected her from whatever danger the world presented to her. The Cylon were curious of the dawn goddess but all were barred from even being in the same area as she. Ashunera was naive and blinded from the fact of the Cylons and Umetta existing along side her.

Umetta on the other hand was less than pleased to find out who Ashunera was. At first she had thought the younger goddess was a prodigy child and thought of her no more. However, things had changed and the truth was found out by the lunar goddess. Umetta pushed her way through the Zananma's defenses in order to see Ashunera for herself. This was the first time a deity had used their powers on mortals in the world.

Many Zananmas shrunk in fear of the lunar goddess. They begged for Ashunera to help them. She met with Umetta and demanded to know the cause of the lunar goddess's hostility. The goddess of the dawn believed that Umetta was a misguided entity until their blood relation was revealed. Umetta took her turn asking why the goddess of dawn was so ignorant of the facts at hand. After a whirlwind of knowledge had been traded, Ashunera was more confused as ever.

Before Umetta had the chance to comfort her, a group of Ashunera's followers charged in. They claimed that Umetta was an evil goddess since she used her powers against the people. Mis-communications continued between them until Umetta was chased off by Ashunera's forces. The lunar goddess informed her Cylons of the event. She warned them that the Zananma may not listen and have claimed that she was an evil influence. Without a way to properly communicate to Ashunera, there would be conflict.

The conflict came in the form of genocide. A war was waged between Ashunera's and Umetta's forces. The Zananma were pushing on the offensive attack, claiming that their crusades against Umetta would free the world of evil. The Cylons on the other hand were on the defensive and attempted to get to the goddess of dawn. The Cylons wanted a negotiation but they were denied by the fanatics of Ashunera.

Eventually, Umetta started to beg the other deities to help save her people. Most turned away from the lunar goddess, stating that her people must pass their reign back to the Zananma. The goddess seethed in silent rage as her people retreated into the ancient temples of the Colossi. It was here that Umetta found a temporary solution to their situation. Inscribed in the walls of the temple were the history of the Colossi and how to awaken them. Umetta decided that she would speak to one of them for an answer.

She used her powers to restore the Sky Colossus, Avion, back to life. There the two talked over the options that her people had. A solution was found to preserve the Cylons. They could be moved away to a different world or sleep in the earth as crystals. Umetta turned to her people and asked them which options they wanted. Some wanted to stay, everyone else wanted to leave.

The decision was split and Umetta tried to do both. She asked neighboring worlds for a place to stay for her people. Only one accepted to let the Cylons have refuge. The head deity was a high ranking goddess of the forge, Piper. Umetta and Piper made their agreements and began to move the Cylon people off their home world.

Piper had forged gates for the Cylons to pass through from their world to their new home. Umetta placed the gates near the temples of the Colossi so that it was easier for the Cylons to escape through them.

While the war raged on between the Cylons and the Zananma, Ashunera could feel the powers of Piper at work. She was greatly alarmed and frightened of such powerful deity. The Zananma took this as an omen and became even more aggressive. The Cylon forces were quickly overwhelmed with this sudden reaction.

However, the Cylons had already escaped or had gone into hiding with the Colossi. The Zananma now only faced Umetta herself. She warned them that if she was to fall, there would be no way to collect or distribute the world's energy without help from the Cylons. The lunar goddess then took the power away from the gates to make her final stand against the Zananma.

The fight was long and difficult for both sides of the battle. Umetta was extremely outnumbered but she was able to make a compromise with her abilities as a goddess. In the end, she had to retreat into a Avion's temple and blocked off entry. In the temple, she was able to rest and hide with Avion when the Zananma finally broke through the barrier.

The Zananma were not able to find Umetta's presence and claimed victory of the war. They began to celebrate, not knowing that Umetta was still watching them. She awaited the day when the Cylons would awaken from sleep and return home.

As the civilization of the Zunanma spread, the people evolved into two races, the Beorc and the Laguz. The differences started a conflict between the two races and eventually led to war. Ashunera attempted to soothe the two races and recreate the peace that was once widespread. However, neither side would hear her desperate pleas.

Ashunera's emotions took the better of her and a great flood drowned most of the world except for the continent of Tellius.
