"Cha'lie, this is dumb, what are we gonna do," Denny whined, running circles around her guardian's feet, who tried not to trip while they walked through the crowded boardwalk. It was just so boring doing nothing - her guardian was boring!
Charlie thought he could just be nice without getting any complaints, after being followed around and bothered for hours on end and just take the girl outside for a little while, maybe get something to eat at one of the stands, but, no. While he wanted to retort that she was the one who wanted to come out here, he couldn't, and just settled for, "I don't know, you pick something."
Which was a really, really bad idea, because as soon as he said that, she started running.

Antennae perked up as soon as she heard voices, but Azoc stayed put right beside her guardian; it would not do to run from him - he had other ways of finding her, and none of them good.
She stepped back just as the little girl ran into her guardian, making his lip curl in distaste. He wouldn't have come here if not ordered by Kanth, and he was about to reach out to snag the little one had Azoc not stepped in between them.
"Careful where you're running," Azoc stated with a smile, crouching before the other. "Where's your parent?"
The guardian snorted and looked away, looking very uncomfortable in this kind of setting.

She certainly hadn't expected to run into someone else; she thought the path she'd started running in was much clearer, honest, so it had to have been the stupid tall person's fault, not hers. Denny could only pout at the tall person and this new, very blue person in front of her, only grumbling, "I was bein' ca'eful."
Parent? Oh, yeah.
"Cha'lie's over there," she pointed off to where she'd come from; she couldn't see him just yet, but she was absolutely sure he was following her. After all, it was no good to go on an adventure with only just one person, and Charlie was smart enough to know that much.

Azoc smiled further, she loved how the other talked. "I'm Azoc. This is Tiil'xhin." The guardian shifted, crossing his arms and now glaring at the little girl.
Azoc glanced up at Tiil'xhin with a solemn expression, her antennae twitching.

"'m Denny," she said, grinning at Azoc, "nice t' meetcha," and while normally she would offer her hand for one of those shake things her guardian had told her about, even though she didn't understand it, she wasn't sure how it would work in this situation. Not to mention she didn't even want to bother with a handshake from the tall, mean looking person.
"Sorry for runnin' in t'you," but she wasn't looking at the person she'd actually run into. "Cha'lie an' me are s'posed to go somewhere fun, but he's bein' slow," as always.

"That's alright." Azoc stood up and glanced behind Denny, then back to the girl. "You want to do something fun? We could wait for your... father, right?" Azoc sighed at this comment, knowing full well Tiil'xhin wasn't her father... but it was the closest thing she had at the moment.

Denny's grin widened and she nodded ecstatically, "Yeah, yeah! It'll be real fun," hanging out with her new friend who was blue and nice and probably knew all sorts of fun things to do. "What're we gonna do, huh? D'you know any fun games?"

Sadly, Azoc shook her head. Tiil'xhin hadn't given her a chance to be a kid, and therefore she didn't know very many kidlike games. She couldn't help Denny! How sad!
"We can get food?" She offered, pointing at the various stands of assorted food, smiling widely as she glanced to Tiil'xhin. He'd offer to pay, wouldn't he?
"Fine," He murmured, rolling his eyes skyward. The only reason he really went along with it was because he knew Kanth would find out, one way or the other.

She was only slightly disappointed, really, but the mention of food quickly reminded her that it was getting pretty close to snack time. And since her guardian wasn't here to stop her at the moment, she could indulge in some of her favorites!
"'kay! Le's get candy," Denny decided, "or maybe somethin' else if they don' have candy," she continued, taking hold of one of Azoc's wrists, tugging at her. "C'mon, c'mon!"

"Have you tried seaweed?" Azoc asked, smiling as she followed after the child, tilting her head. She loved chewing on seaweed, particularily because it had a neat aftertaste. Meat was good too, though Azoc had never had candy before. Would it agree with her? It sounded... vicious, and not in a nice way. She'd heard of kids with too much sugar... surpressing an inward shudder, she glanced around for a booth.
"Over here," Tiil sighed, motioning them over to a hot dog stand, to where he ordered three of them and handed both of the girls each one, saving the last for himself. He'd order more if they wanted them. Not like he had anything better to do.
Azoc's eyes widened, and she looked at Tiil inquisitively, murmuring a small thank you, but Tiil was already looking elsewhere, his expression uncaring.

"What's seaweed?" Denny asked, tilting her head at the other girl, since she hadn't seen any, but if her new friend liked it it couldn't be that bad at all, really.
But forget about seaweed, there was something that was here right now! She took the hot dog happily, saying a thank you to the tall person who wasn't all that mean after all, she guessed, if he would give her food. "I like these," she said decisively.

The man nodded in affirmation, saying nothing more.
"Seaweed! It's ... sea grass," Azoc murmured, not finding any other description for it, giving a shrug. "I also like meat." She gave a wide smile, really getting into having a good time. This little girl was kinda neat, after all!
"Yeah? These are meat. Hot dogs are good with ketchup and mustard." Azoc smiled. "Not quite the same without mayo though."

"Grass is fun t' run around in," Denny recalled. She had spent quite a bit of time running around in grass and through it and around it, much to her guardian's dismay, since it wasn't like she would clean up the trail she left behind all by herself when they returned home. "Meat's good, then, too," she nodded, especially if all meat was like this.
"One of my favorite candies is pop rocks, 'cause when y' put them in your mouth they pop aroun' an' make sounds: pop, pop!" She tried demonstrating, but found it rather hard. "Cha'lie says they're like tiny fi'eworks, but I ain't seen any of those."

"Want to know what's really in a hot dog?" The man asked sadistically, his grin spreading.
"No," Azoc had murmured about halfway through his sentence, a bit loud and stretched out so that the meaning was convoluted. "I've never had pop rocks." Nor had she seen fireworks, so she really didn't get what Denny was talking about.
"Maybe we could see some together?" Azoc suggested hopefully, smiling.
"Take Kanth with you, not me," Tiil snorted, turning away as he ate the rest of his hot dog. Azoc gave him an incredulous gaze, wondering just why he kept dogging on Kanth, and what their history was. Maybe it was time to find out.

Of course, the little girl's curiosity just had to pipe in once more. "What's in'a hot dog?" Thought whether or not she would continue listening for an answer was anyone's guess, as she was very enthralled by her new friend and a possible fireworks outing.
"That'd be awesome! We could go an' you could meet Cha'lie," not that they wouldn't meet a little later, but, still, "an' we could have tons of fun and I'll getcha some pop rocks so we can sha'e!"
When she said that she would get pop rocks, she clearly meant her guardian would get the both of them some, but it just sounded cooler to say otherwise, really.
