"I've goths a lovely bunths of coconuts!
Theres theys all are, sthanding in rowth!"

The peppy, little tune rangout from the borders of the self-claimed "Spirit Cove" as a little umbrella creature bounced along in a good mood. Loba was doing a patrol duty of sorts, keeping an eye out for newcomers, threats, etc etc...but it mainly kept him out of his companions mane while he was working in the caverns under the waterfalls.
Jumping from rock to rock to avoid taking an unwanted dunk into one of the many streams in their home, Loba paused and tilted back to gaze upwards, wondering how his master was doing. The Chi'lin had found a generous amount of green jade the day before; hopefully it would enough to trade for various items they needed...
Perking up, Loba bounced in place while benting this way and that to look in all directions again. Maybe master would! Maybe, if he stayed on good behavior. "Masther needths more sthilks! Iths's getting clothse to winther!"

User ImageSofiel wandered through the Rainforest, her familiar, Ace, followed close behind her. 'Do you really think that this is a good idea, master? Akemi is probably out looking for you. You're mother is likely worried to tears. Running off like this isn't nice,' Ace didn't like Sofiel's decision to run away from home. He wanted to stop her plans from the first place, but knew that she'd throw a large tantrum and wouldn't speak to him for ages afterwards. So instead of just turning them around right now, or run off to alert Akemi where they are, he follwed her by her side. He was convinced that she'd get bored and hungry soon, and that they'd be headed home in a day or two.
"Oh hush, Ace. You know that father is getting tired of all of us just laying around the house. Plus, we're going to have to move out sometime. You really don't think that mother would let us live in the mansion for the rest of our lives, now do you?" Sofiel looked back at Ace with a slender raised eyebrow. His eyes narrowed slightly, 'No, I do not think that, Master. Xai would have let you stay in the mansion for as long as you please. It was you who chose for you to leave, not her.'
Sofiel fell silent. What Ace said was true, and deep down inside of her, she knew it. Maybe she'd go back there some day but for now...
Sofiel smiled as she heard the soft roar of waterfalls in the distance. "How do you feel like having a bath, Ace?" Sofiel smirked at her companion, watching as a scowl fell upon his face. 'You know as well as any other Pan'lun that Coyotes dislike water. I only take bath's when I'm filthy. And as you can see right now-"
Ace was cut off when a glob of muck was thrown into his face. Letting out a loud yelp, Ace brushed the offending slime away from his bright green eyes to glare at his laughing master. "Sofiel..." he snarled. Sofiel smirked and high tailed it out of there. Ace was right at her heals.

"huh?" Loba had hear the very faint yelp, since he was a little ways from the waterfall-filled area, and was instantly thrown into alert mode. Any major threat to master was a death sentence to him...
Was it a giant herd of vicious, blood-thirsty coyotes?!
A dragon and it's familiar on the warpath, just waiting to tear him limb from limb?!
"WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Loba squealed in fear as the mental images grew worse and worse, causing to bounce towards where the howl had come from in his blind panic. He didn't wanna die! NONONONONONO! If he died, who would keep master company?! It was important! Oh yes, very much so! Besides, Loba was sure that he didn't taste very good, being made out of paper and whatnot.
After a few moments of bouncing, Loba paused and looked around: Was this...a part of master's territory? It looked somewhat familiar...
AH! It was! the umbrella gratefully bounced over to where a wild cucumber bunch was growing. Master always enjoyed cucumbers with the fish he caught! Maybe if he stayed here, Master would come and find-
A faint crash and the sounds of something running caught his attention yet again. Standing up straight, Loba tried to look over the varies froilage, but failed due to his shortness. The mentals images from before started to rear their ugly heads. He paniced but kept whispering to himself:
"Uh nothes! Loba isthn't afraid! Noth noth nothes! Noth this time!"

"Hey, stop that Ace!" Sofiel exclaimed when Ace started nipping at her heals. She sped up faster, trying to escape Ace's razor sharp teeth.
Suddenly Ace froze in his tracks. He stopped running to stare at some shivering bushes to their left. "Ace...?" Sofiel stopped too, turning around to face her companion. Sofiel inched closer to Ace slowly, just incase it was a trap to get her unprepaired. His mint green eyes didn't leave the brush even after she had neared his side. Sofiel became worried. What held his attention so strongly?
Ace had stopped when he heard a distant battle cry. He was worried about Sofiel. What was headed their way? 'We shouldn't have made all of this noise.' he glanced over at Sofiel's worried face quickly. 'I need to get her out of here.'
"Sofiel!" Ace barked out, ordering his masters attention. In times like this, she would listen to him. 'Not that she really has a choise.'
"Climb up that tree, and don't make a noise. Got it," It wasn't a question, but a order. Akemi would have his head if Sofiel was harmed. Ace would wait down here for whatever was charging for them.
Sofiel didn't question Ace's command. She immediatly glided to the nearest tree, and sunk her claws into the bark, hoisting herself up to a high brach.
She watched Ace below.

Deciding it was best to head back to the cave, Loba left the cucumber bush and started towards the sounds of the waterfalls when the shouts from nearby caused the umbrella to flinch. Whimpering, Loba bounced faster...
The light crunch of something large in the trees made Loba bounce as fast as he could on his one leg; he started a delirious mumbling as he eyed the shadows of the forest.
"L-Loba no afraid....L-loba noth sthcared...."
Okay, maybe he was a little scared...
But, everything would be okay once he got back to Master! Master would protect- Huh?
Pausing, Loba bent backwards as something caught his attention: a large-serpent-like shadow passing over the trees. Someone was there?! And it was way big!
Puffing out in a sad attempt to look intimidating to whomever was lingering, Loba called out: "GO AWAY WAY! Thiths isth Masther's territory! Bad people go away!"

Sofiel almost fell out of the tree when she heard the yell. She looked around for the thing that had yelled at the both of them. 'What was that?!' She gasped when she saw Ace running towards a small, umbrella like creature.

In less then a second, Ace had reacted and was sprinting over to the sorce of the yell. Nothing would get a chance to hurt Sofiel today, nope, not with him here. Jumping forwards with his teeth beared, Ace tackled the offender to the ground.

Loba yelped in surprise as heinstantly went from standing up straight to doing a face-plant into the soft earth when something much heavier knocked him down him down from behind. That surprise quickly became panic-fear when Loba saw just WHAT had pushed him down:

A blood-red coyote-wolf dog with sharp claws and ever sharper looking fangs...and those fangs were directed straight at him. Needless to say, this woulda been a perfect opportunity for the familiar to faint; instead, Loba paniced....

Badly.

Flailing like a mad being while being pinned, the umbrella familiar started a rambling that meshed all of his words together. "NONONONONONO!LOBAISN'TEDIBLEIISJUSTPAPER!" Life flashing before his eyes, Loba sniffed and started bawling like an infant human. He literatelly started crying a river with the amount of tears pouring down his face. All the while, he continued thrashing and blubbering out random sentences. "PLEASEPLEASEPLEASENOEATLOBA! LOBENEEDSTOBEWITHMASTER!MASTERWILLBEALLALONEIFLOBADIES!NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!MMMMMMMAAAAASSSSSTTTTTTEEEEEERRRRR!"

Snarling at the loud screaming that was coming out of the creatures mouth, Ace decided to silence it with his paw. Looking down through red-painted eyes, Ace acknowledged the fact that the creature was a stunning shade of blue. It was very thin, making it hard for him to hold it down without almost falling over. Shaking his head, Ace opened his eyes to get a better look at the struggling creature. His eyes widened a fraction. "Are... Are you an UMBRELLA?!" Ace half yelled in shock, literally jumping off the creature. 'What is that creature?! How on earth could a umbrella speak?'

Sofiel blinked down at the creature, watching with some humor in her eyes at Ace's reaction towards the haunted umbrella. 'So they DO exist,' she thought, looking the still flailing umbrella up and down. Her mother, Xai, used to tell Sofiel and her siblings bed time stories when they were younger. One had been a legend about a haunted umbrella. 'She called them Kasa Obake' Sofiel remembered.

A warm chuckle arose from the underbrush before it was pushed aside as a new Painter made an appearance before the three of them. Gentle green eyes cast an amused expression at Loba (who took the opportunity to bounce away and hide behind the newcomer) before staring at Sofiel and Ace.

"Yes, Loba is an umbrella." The Chi'Lin male had been looking for his papery friend when he had heard the loud shout. Tail flicking, he cocked his head slightly before continuing. "He is part of the race known as "Kasa Obake" and is about...one hundred years old, I believe?" He smiled and glanced up at the P'an lun teenager in the trees above them before staring back at Ace. "I appreciate the fact that you did not squish him though. It wouldn't be right if my friend was killed off by a simple misunderstanding."

Sofiel gasped when the male Chi-lin walked out of the underbrush. She was right about the familiar, it was a Kasa Obake. Sofiel snorted at the thought of Ace killing a helpless familiar. He wouldn't hurt a fly, as long as it wasn't near herself. 'He seems... safe,' Sofiel crawled down from the tree, landing on the ground beside Ace. "I'm sorry about my coyote, he can be jumpy at times," Sofiel apologized for Ace, seeing that he was still too stunned to speak.
Offering the male a kind smile, Sofiel spoke "My name is Sofiel, and this here is Ace." she gestured to her side where Ace stood. "We've been traveling around for the past few days, could you tell us where we might be able to find shelter?"
The night before, she had to curl up with Ace in a shallow ditch. It was very uncomfortable, but was the only shelter that they could find.

Yasuo chuckled and nodded at the young female's explanation of her companions' reactions. "It's quite alright, child. Loba tends to bring out surprise and shock with everyone he encounters whenever he wanders off." He could not help but smile at the irritated huff that came from his hiding familiar. Turning back to the crimson pair, he too smiled at the introductions before offering his own. "It is a pleasure to meet you both, Lady Sofiel, Sir Ace." He bowed his head before straightening up. "I am known as Yasuo and this, as you might already know.." He gestered to the paper spirit behind him. "Is Loba."

Tilting his head ever so slightly, he listened to her lounging woes with patience before nodding in understanding. "No one should have to rest in an unsheltered area. If you would like, you and Ace can accompany Loba and myself back to our home." He smiled at her as Loba jumped onto his back and Yasuo turned back towards from where he first appeared. "You will be able to rest for the night and replenish your strength. If that is what you want then, please, follow me." He then slipped into the bushes and started heading back home, but kept at a slow pace incase Sofiel was following.

Sofiel smiled shyly at the Chi'lin and his familiar. They were both very nice, and she couldn't help but to trust them. Sofiel followed behind Yasuo. Offering them a place to stay for the night was very generous of him, and the thought of a bed over hard ground made Sofiel sleepy. Those miles of walking were finally starting to seem tiring.
Ace frowned at the large male. Sofiel trusted him, Ace could tell. But was he safe? No one could truely be generous enough to let them, strangers, sleep in their den?

While clinging to his Master's back so he wouldn't fall, Loba turned and blew a razzberry at the crimson twosome. The spirit had zero distrust for the pair; they were strangers and Master was offering them a place to sleep?! What if they ran off with all of Master's belongings, including all the green and white jade Master had dug up over the past two days?

Even is the blue Chi-lin was gunna trade for supplies with the Pan'luns', that didn't mean they couldn't be-

"Loba. You do realize you are thinking outloud again?"

Startled, the spirit glanced down into amused green eyes as they walked along towards the cove; the scent of the waterfalls, along with their continues thunder, became more evident. "I truely doubt a child like herself would willing take something that did not belong to her. Neither would her canine friend, I assume."

"MASTHER! BUTBUTBUT!"

"Loba! Hush now! If it bothers you so, then you are free to stay up tonight to keep an eye on things!" Yasuo sent his companion a stern expression before glancing towards Sofiel with a kinder expression. "Tell me, young one. What brings a Pan-lun to our humble forest?"
