I'm bored. Seriously.
Four months being jobless is pretty bad.
I was craving a job two weeks in.
But school is starting soon (the 14th!), so no point in getting a job now.
I'm also moving for school (the 12th), so when I do get a job, it'll be there.
... plus I might have a job over there (same people who said I had a place with them, but that fell through so I'm not holding my breath for the job)
But in the meantime, I'm bored.
Seriously.
I don't even have a hobby to use up my time.
So I finally gave myself a project!
I call it "Project Finish-The-Fish-Tank-Stand"
I'm even taking pictures of the progress.
So far I've taken measurements (because I didn't make the stand, my ex did... and never finished it. It works, but... well... I'll be posting the pics so you can see for yourself)
Oh, and I've taken the 'before' pics.
Should be relatively easy... just need to cut plywood to the right size... nail on (maybe screws... but nails hide a little better)... and paint (probably gonna paint a little mural thing on the front to avoid a drab, boring look)
So what do you guys do when you're unemployed? Do any of you have any hobbies? etc.?

I suggest you use wood glue too. It'll make the structures more sturdy. After the glue dries, use nails.
Good luck with your project!
Im basically unemployed. Working 15 hours a week. 2 days a week.
I hope things don't fall through this time. o_O wait, "I hope things don't fall through" sounds kinda negative...
I hope you can count of them this time!
In my sparetime, I usually just play video games and watch TV.
Irritates my parents.
I'll be moving soon myself. Heading off to Illinois on Oct. 16th at 6:40am.
Im packing what I can and going with only what I can carry .-.

Well the stand is already made. No glue was used (ex was lazy) but he used really good screws, so it'll last quite a while.
I just don't like how it looks (not aesthetic at ALL) so I want to make it look less like an 'ew' piece, more like a 'hey... fish tank!'
I'm moving on the 12th. I need to have at least the top done before I leave because I should have the tank back on there before I go. Only makes sense since my parents have to take care of it in their house and I don't want to make it any more of a burden.
I'm borrowing a vehicle and a trailer, and I'll have help with my furniture when I move.

Project update:
Stand is in the garage. Found enough plywood lying around to make the pieces I need. Only problem right now is I have a ridiculously large piece of plywood I need to cut for 3 out of the 4 sides I need. This is a problem because it's too big for one person to do alone (especially one person with a shoulder problem lol) so now I'm at a standstill until my sister gets home from school so she can help me cut the piece in half (then I can do it myself from there). Hopefully she'll help me... she's never helped with this kind of project before so I'm sure she'll be intimidated by the table saw.
So as it is everything is in the garage waiting to be done. I guess the least I can do for today is get the hardware and supplies I need (hinges, wood glue, paint) then just find something else to do until my sister gets home.
Maybe I'll go grocery shopping... that needs to get done today...
Oddly enough, considering I've never actually done a project like this... I expect I'll get it done earlier than expected (I want it done by Friday). Last time I cut wood was... 1998... ten years... yeah. Go woodworking class! (Note: I don't think I ever finished a project in woodworking class)

My sister did help. And I quickly cut up the pieces last night. Didn't do a perfect job, but it'll work just fine. Today I need to fix up a few cuts and sand the whole thing. Then tomorrow I paint... and if it dries in time I assemble. Then all that's left it to get it back in the house and put the fish tank back on - but the fish tank part will have to wait until Saturday (which is why I want it done by Friday) because I can't do that part with my sister. I need real muscles lol It's a 30 gallon tank... so it's big and heavy and I can't empty it fully out.
Then everything fish tank related gets put on hold until I get my own place. I want to get a bigger tank with more fish and even get some sea anemones and stuff in there.

Well, painting is not QUITE done. It's kinda hard when it's getting cold out and the sun goes down early (it's kinda dark by 7 sad )... and you sleep in until 1 pm HAHAHA!
Ok, but seriously, I might have to do one more coat of paint (doubt it though) but I have to finish painting the doors (hard to paint two sides of something when one side has to be on the floor lol). Once the doors are dry I get to play "pretend I know what I'm doing and put the doors on". Ok, so I've pretended I've known what I'm doing the entire time:
- first time using a table saw
- first time using a drill
- first time painting something other than a fence
and now
- first time installing doors and latch
fun!
Once the doors are on there's nothing else I can do until someone with muscles is around. I also painted the back of my aquarium blue so that you can't see right through to the wall anymore. I like it much better now. 3nodding The fish weren't happy when I was painting... they thought a hairy monster thing (paintbrush) was attacking them lol.

DONE!
DONEDONEDONEDONEDONE!
... now if only my bf would hurry up and get over here to help me put it back in the basement and get the aquarium on it. So what if he's at work and when he gets here I'll be asleep. Yeah... we're doing it tomorrow.
Pics coming soon... might as well get the pic of the ultimate finished project before I bother posting. I'm also gonna post it on my facebook lol. I'm so proud of me - and my parents are really really impressed. 3nodding

Oh congrats!
It looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than it did before. I would post pics of what my room looked like when I moved and what it looks like now... but I didn't take any "Before..." Pics.
I guess I could still take "Currently..." Pics though.
Lol Im unemployed again. Dosen't matter though, I need my social security card before I can get a job.

Yeah, I really like the finished project. I haven't seen it since that final picture, but I know my parents have been showing it off every chance they get lol
I'll see it in a few weeks (I'm going home for halloween) so hopefully no fish have died in that time lol.
You don't have your social security card?
