Bai-Shén shifted the pile of art-museum brochures on her desk and sighed, twirling a long purple pigtail around her finger. Business had been slow lately...and dreadfully so. She'd sold perhaps two paintings in the last month? It wasn't that she needed the money at all, of course, but it was nice to know that her souls were going to homes...which they weren't. It hurt her to see them all sitting around the room in frames on shelves and the walls and on little pedestals on the middle counter.

It was a warm day out, sometime after noon. The sun was out and blazing down, with few clouds out. Unfortunately.
Her skin burned. Sort of. The sun didn't hurt too much, but Shaunee burned easily, due to her creamy pale skin. So she had a pair of heavy sunglasses over her pale green eyes, the wide rims covering her face from above her eyebrows to her high cheekbones, a layer of sunscreen covering the rest of her face. Her hairstyle didn't exactly help shade her face, as her green-streaked brunette hair was pulled back in a series of dreadlocks mixed with corn rows, tied in a tail at the back of her neck.
At the moment, she was on the hunt for some new paintings. Shaunee adored collecting them, made a habit of cluttering her apartment with them, though she tried to at least make it look tasteful. And not completely cluttered.
The twenty two year old let out a sigh, digging in her back pocket for her wallet. She disliked handbags, though it made it impossible for her to really carry anything besides her cash and cards. Her dark jeans made her legs sweat, but she greatly disliked shorts and skirts, unless the skirt was foot length. In which case she was all for it.
Though it, unfortunately, made people think "goth." She snorted at that though, she certainly wasn't. She was just pale and liked dark colors. So what.
Turning her thoughts back to her original intent, she glanced around at the stores as she passed by them. Various different art stores, all with stuff she either had or didn't quite like the looks of. There was one store, though, across the street, with a painting in the window that caught her eye...
She couldn't help but stop to watch it for a moment, before making a dash across the street. It was a painting of a beautiful woman with a serpent wrapped around her. It was amazing.
It only took Shaunee a moment before she quick stepped through the door, looking inside the store and at the purple haired woman behind the counter.
"Erm, hello?"

Bai-Shén peered up and smiled. Good, good, a customer! This one looked promising not only for purchasing, but for a good accident...
"Hi! How can I help you?"

Shaunee let a small smile come to her face as she stepped fully into the shop now, sliding the sunglasses up until they rested on top of her head. She glanced briefly around the small shop before her gaze once again settled on the one propped up in the window, her eyes lingering on the back of the painting.
"Uhm, yeah, I saw that one in the window, with the woman and the snake, from outside. Er, how much is it?" She asked hesitantly, approaching it and peering around the frame to look at it up close. "It's beautiful." Shaunee said admiringly, looking at all the strokes that composed the painting, plus the woman's serene and pleasant expression.

"That's "Lilith"," Bai-Shén explained, "Originally by...John Collier, I think. That's just a reproduction. I could part with it for...let's say...a hundred and fifty?"

Shaunee felt her eyebrows lift slightly as the woman named the price. "A hundred fifty? Really? Usually they're more expensive, even if they're reproductions. It's gorgeous." She knew a little of the story of Lilith, Adam's rumored first wife. Not much though, but the painting was fantastic to look at anyways.
"Uhm, well, I'd like to buy it, if that's alright. If it isn't reserved for anyone or something." She said, turning around to approach the counter, slipping her wallet out of her pocket to get at her credit cards.

"Oh, no, it's all yours! Would you like me to wrap them up for you?" Bai-Shén asked as she set the system up for this new woman to slide her card and then sign.
'Them'? How suspicious!

Shaunee couldn't help but frown when the woman said "them," but she shrugged it off after a moment, too excited about the new painting and the record price she was getting it for. She swiped her card quickly, signing with a small, curly flourish, standing up straight with a happy smile.
That was certainly a steal! "Yeah, wrapping it would be good." Shaunee said absent mindedly, looking at the painting and hoping she could carry it easily enough. She wasn't sure how long she'd have to wait for the bus, and would rather not stand in the heat with it.

Bai-Shén took the painting from the front display and took it to her desk, beginning to wrap it gently.
"If you have any questions about care or anything, feel free to come back! I'm always here."

"Alright, thanks a ton." Shaunee said with an excited smile, gently picking up the painting after the woman had finished wrapping it. It fit well enough under her arm, though she had to stretch her fingers to get around the frame.
She was ecstatic, that was for certain, about her new find. She gave the woman another wave and a smile, before going out the door, heading towards the bus stop with her new painting under her arm, a triumphant smile on her face.

Bai-Shén hummed as she dusted the wrapping bits off of her desk. So she hadn't had anyone in a month, and then in came a good case to buy 2 souls! Wonderful. The poor woman, though, was she in for a surprise or what?!
