Me again, looking for yet more help on a fanfiction! In this one, there's a demon killing humans for fun, and Team Urameshi is supposed to destroy him. However, when they finally get the opportunity to save one of the humans he's planning on killing, they learn (the hard way) that he's much too powerful to beat, and in the end they are all mortally wounded and the human is killed right in front of them. Clearly, this leads to a severe problem for them, because it's the first time they've ever really failed at anything as a team. What I initially need help with is interpreting the characters so that I can have a good idea of how they would react to this. Right now, I state that Kuwabara is depressed and struggles with feelings of severe guilt, that Hiei is suffering through extreme bouts of anger because he underestimated the opponent, and that Yusuke cannot function because he's overwhelmed with feelings of depression, guilt and self-hatred.
What I'd first like to know is whether you all think that those emotions seem accurate. And I didn't forget Kurama, I simply cannot fathom how he would react to this. He'd probably be a mix of everyone's feelings, but for now I'm not sure.
Second, Koenma realizes that the team is no longer able to function and decides to do something drastic--he is going to remove their memories of this terrible event so that they can train, become stronger and eventually beat the demon, because otherwise they're useless. Unfortunately, the team remembers after a while (Kurama figures it out and they meet the spirit of the human who was killed in front of them, triggering memories) and what's more difficult than the first problem is the second--how would they react to finding out that their memories have been erased AND that they have failed horribly in the past?
I'm sorry if this is a little vague, but I have the entire scene of the human's death written out, so if you need more information I could always PM it to you, because it's far too gory to post here. ^______________________^ Thanks!

I think you're heading the correct direction with your ideas about how the team would react, although some of it depends on the exact circumstances and how long the team has to wallow in the aftermath before they have their memories taken. I would probably be able to gauge better if you sent me that snippet.
Kurama, though? He'd internalize. He might feel some of what the others feel, but he's more likely than not to be upset for their pain and ignore his own. He's got a lot of guilt issues already and might not really pay much attention to his personal reaction, but you can bet he'll be trying his best to hold Yuusuke up, reassure Kuwabara, and gently prod Hiei back to normalcy.
(You need to be posting these fanfictions about which you're asking questions. They both sound fascinating.)
(Gory = heart )

Thank you! I'll send you the snippet, because it's way, way too gory to post here. I'd get banned for sure. ^^ I agree with what you said about Kurama, too, and thank you for your insight. Damn his mysterious ways...
