It was wonderful!
No, it wasn't...Wait, was it?
Sellion narrowed an eye and flicked one of his ears up as he walked, constantly having to untangle various limbs from vines and roots with each step he took. He didn't seem to be paying much attention to that, however. He was busy trying to find out what type of evening it was. Maybe it would help if he could see the sun? Why wasn't the sun up when it was late evening? It was so strange...Where did the sun go?
"Where did it go, Chana?" he asked in a mumble, eyes glancing up at the sky as he walked. In the process of looking away from his path, he ran into a tree with a loud THUD. Sellion jumped away from the tree and shook his head to clear it from the painful feeling of impact. Cursing the tree, he started walking again. What was he thinking about again...?
"Ah, the vines..." Sellion murmured, nodding. Then his paws hit something soft and warm and his legs twitched and buckled. Sellion was sent tumbling forward, the jungle turning into a blur of greens and browns around him. He landed face-first in a mud puddle.

She liked this spot. All hidden in the leaves, with soft lush grass beneath her that was incredibly comfy to rest herself on. A small purr of satisfaction escaped the leopard cub's maw as she wriggled around, getting herself comfy in a tight little ball, enjoying the feeling of the sunlight filtering through the trees, striking her orange fur at random intervals. She loved the feeling of the sun on her back.
It was with a frightened yelp that Leilani felt something strike her back and go toppling over, leaving a nasty sore patch where it had hit. Mewing in pain, the cub was on her feet in an instant, a little shaky as the watched the pink and black cheetah tumble through the vegetation, landing face-first in a puddle of mud. She winced a little, carefully picking her way through the jungle floor over towards the stranger, ears tensed curiously as she extended her head, which was lowered a little in concern.
"Are you alright?"
She decided not to mention that her back really hurt now.

"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes," Sellion repeated, lifting his face from the mud puddle with a loud SQUELCH sound. He spit mud from his mouth and shook his head around, drops of mud and water flying about. Then he stood and faced the leopardess cub. He licked mud from around his lips and quirked his eyes back and forth, looking as though he were trying to decide whether or not the mud tasted good.
Sellion flicked his pink eyes back to the leopardess cub and stared. He examined her. There was silence for a moment. "Orange things should be careful..." Sellion stated heavily. Then he sat and proceeded to groom mud from his fur. It wasn't like Sellion to groom himself. He rarely bathed normally. Perhaps he just wasn't used to jungle mud?
"When I rule the world," Sellion began slowly in a grumble of irritation, sneering as he groomed himself. "I shall destroy ALL mud puddles." A large golden beetle caught his eye and he watched it fly about. It landed on a fallen branch in front of him and Sellion watched it, eyes sparkling with cub-like interest, grinning.

Leilani took a few steps back as the cheetah clambered to his feet, just to give him space. She watched him curiously, wondering what he was doing. His colouring was certainly strange - but then again, so was hers. She didn't often see a bright orange and blue leopard in the jungle. She watched him licking the mud from his maw, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. What...was he doing?
The silence was beginning to freak her out, until he finally spoke. Although it didn't seem like the usual thing to say. No apology, just a comment that she should be careful. Feeling the fur on her tail bristle a little, she growled softly, amber eyes challenging, "I am careful! You tripped over me!"
It wasn't often that Leilani got angry, but her back was sore and she'd been woken from her nap. And that did tend to make one rather grumpy. However, his words softened the cub's expression, and she began to listen with interest, face bright and excited.
"You're going to rule the world?" asked the guillible cub, eyes wide in astonishment. Woa.
"Can...Can I be a princess?!"

"Hmph," Sellion snorted, curling a lip and staring down at the cub. He walked closer to her and bent his head down so that he was at her level. "being a princess is a birthright." he scoffed distastefully, eyes flicking over her face. "Besides," Sellion began in a high-pitched voice, bouncing up and away from her. "I will be a RULER in my world, not a KING." he spat. He snapped his head around to look at the leopard cub once more. "Being a ruler requires much power, smartness, and skillness; all these things I learned on my own and...From Chana..." Sellion turned his whole body around and ran in front of the leopard cub, bending down again to be at her level. "Do you have power?" he asked seriously, just above a whisper.
The golden beetle Sellion had been watching previously flew up from its perch on a log. It flew as if in a daze up and down until it made itself cozy on top of Sellion's matted mane. Sellion looked up at it, eyes crossing in the process. In a blur of fast motion, the cheetah slapped the beetle off of his head and crushed it under his paw with a resounding crunch.

Leilani watched Sellion with wide, adoring amber eyes, sucking up everything he spoke like a sponge would absorb water. A birthright? What did that mean? The forgiving cub wriggled around in anxious anticipation, watching Sellion with a wide grin on her face. A ruler? That still sounded exciting! He mentioned a name, before lowering himself to her level once more, this time a little too close for comfort. Power?
Not wanting to disappoint the male, Leilani nodded with an eager grin, "Yeah! Yeah, I do!"
She watched him kill the beetle, wincing a little. But he was going to be the future ruler, right? So she couldn't make him hate her. Then she'd be, like, a slave or something.

"Ahhhhhh~?" Sellion breathed in a husky drawl, taking his attention off of the beetle's squashed remains. "The orange thing has power?" he asked childishly. But something in his expression did not seem fully satisfied. The cheetah raised himself to his full height suddenly, standing tall with his head high. Beams of sunlight sifted through the jungle trees and made Sellion appear to be some beacon of unearthly power. For a brief moment, he did not seem to be a quirky, insane individual.
"Show me." Sellion commanded.
Then he threw himself to the ground with an abrupt thud and gazed intently at the leopard cub, as if anticipating her to do fascinating tricks, image of unearthly power shattering in an instant.

Leilani shuffled backwards a little under the cheetah's gaze as he turned to her, seemingly attracted to the fact that she'd answered yes - she did have power. He stood to his full height and Leilani cowered a little, feeling small and insignificant. Show him? But...but...she'd only said she'd had power to please him! She didn't really have power! He threw himself to the ground and she scooted backwards with a small squeak, watching him a little fearfully.
"I...u-um...o-okay."
What was she doing? She didn't really have power. What could she show him? Glancing around for something to show, she spotted a nearby tree, and decided it was better than nothing. Besides, mama had said that only leopards could climb trees - so that made them special, right? She approached the tree carefully, praying to Mkodi that she'd be able to get down again afterwards as she carefully dragged herself up to the first branch, which was still fairly high. She squeaked, watching Sellion from her position.
"I-I can climb trees?"

If Sellion's jaw was long enough, it would've hit the ground. He stared, mind-numbed at the sight before him. The little cub...She was up in a tree.
HOW?
Perhaps the cub did have power. Perhaps...Perhaps she could be of use to him after all.
A slow, careful grin found its way onto Sellion's face. He flipped the matter hair out of his eyes and stood, approaching the tree the cub was in cautiously. He blinked, head tilting as he gazed at her small form. Truly she must have some kind of demonic background to possess such a strange power. It would do him good to have her around, he thought.
But how to get her to go with him...?
"Fascinating..." the cheetah breathed, eyes wavering. "Perhaps you can be a princess after all?"

Leilani shuffled about consciously and awkwardly as Sellion continued to watch her, not liking the amount of attention he was giving her. She glanced down, already beginning to plan her descent. She was pretty sure she could manage - there was one branch just below this one, and from there she could claw her way down the tree. At the mention of being a princess, however, she looked back to Sellion, eyes sparking with excitement.
"Really!?" she squeaked in excitement, tail flashing from side to side as a way to get rid of all the excess energy in her, "Just like Papa said?! Papa says I'm his princess!"

Sellion's eyes narrowed dangerously at the last sentences.
Papa.
A Papa was a father.
Sellion hated fathers.
But more importantly, how did the cub expect to be an asset to Sellion if she was tied down by family? It wouldn't do.
"Hmmm...A Papa?" Sellion asked, tilting his chin up. "Princesses with plans to help the soon-to-be ruler of the world cannot stay behind with their Papa." he said darkly. "Nor can they bring them along. So what will you do...Princess?"

Leilani's grin grew larger as Sellion repeated her words, nodding. Her Papa was her world, to Leilani. She loved Ganix dearly. Sellion's next words, however, soon wiped the smile off of her face. She faltered for a few moments, not quite understanding what he said. She couldn't stay with her Papa? But she loved her Papa! She couldn't leave Papa! Tears formed in the innocent young cub's eyes as she shook her head, taking a step backwards.
"I can't leave Papa! I love Papa!"
Why did he want her to leave Papa? He was...he was mean! She shuffled backwards through the vegetation again, scared now. Was he going to hurt her? Be mean to her again? Fear flashed in the innocent young leopard cub's eyes as she continued stepping backwards in horror. She's rather be with Papa than be a princess.
"I don't want to be a princess anymore!"

Sellion bared his clenched fangs and made a sharp hissing sound through his teeth.
"What's that?" he asked aloud, pink eyes flicking over the leopard cub's small form. "You're leaking?" he hissed. So, she didn't want to be a princess anymore. AND she was leaking. It was obvious that he had been wrong about the cub's potential; her power...But it was alright. Mistakes could be fixed. If the cub wasn't a princess, she would never be a princess. She would be NObody's princess. Sellion would make sure of that...
There was a long pause of silent staring.
Then Sellion turned around and walked away, disappearing into the thick jungle.
