I love the credits. The clips and theme song set the tone for the series. The opening episode was a little rough and the Tara character exaggerated, but it smooths out beautifully after that. I love the sense of humor ("God Hates Fangs" on a church sign.) The world is interesting. I like several of the recurring characters, particularly Tara, Remy, and LaFayette. The viral marketing, while cheesey was vaguely amusing. Sookie may be a little bland, Bill a bit stalkery, the Sam foreshadowing a little heavy handed, and Jason is dumber than paint, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it, as it's eerily addictive. Seriously. I find myself craving it on Saturdays; I want to see what happens next. Yes, the sex is rather more than I like in a show, but hey, it's HBO. yes, they really, really need a dialect coach, but I'm pretty happy with it generally. I also like that they sort of trade off rescuing each other instead of having the female lead play damsel.
I haven't read the books yet, which BTW, predate Twilight.

I'm rather glad True Blood is straying so far from the books, but I do wish they'd tighten up the episodes a bit.

I love the musical cues in True Blood. How clever to play "Sex and Candy" under the jail bait vampire stalking prey. And the song over the end credit? Dayumn. Sheer brilliance.

It amuses me that people are complaining about the fake sounding accent of a Danish True Blood actor. I suspect it's because it's an English accented Danish accent as opposed to an American/Danish accent. My father's French friends who were the most fluent in English had and English/French accent that is hard to describe. I strongly suspect that's where the problem is.
