Steps to follow:
o1. Check the front page of the thread to make sure someone hasn't already been approved for the piece of art you want.
o2. Create a thread titled "setting up" or something like it so you can reserve all the posts you need!
o3. Reserve your posts, make one for the child, one for the guardian, and one for what ever you want!
o4. Wait! The mule will either approve your quest (it'll be in the first post!) and it will appear on the front page, or critique will be posted.
o5. In the meantime, you may want to check your guardian and/or child against the Mary Sue Litmus Test. Follow it exactly. Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus are a main reason guardians may be rejected!
o6. Once you're approved, wait for a slot to open, or for an event! You have jsut as much chance as anyone else!
