Teeu was free! He was FREE! The disgusting harness was gone and he could run around and scream and tear things up as much as he damn well PLEASED! That was just what he was doing. The moment Rakha, that stupid fool, had unlocked him with that click, Teeu had been off like a gun.
He wasn't screaming, not yet, but he was fast. The hyena loped over the green green grass, occasionally chasing another youngster or two with snapping jaws when it amused him to do so. Rakha wasn't even trying to chase him and had watched as Teeu zoomed off.
A pond came into view. It was glittering and bright blue with some birds nearby - ooooh. Birds. His eyes flicked to the side and that rough jaw snapped. Teeu slowed down, crept to the left where there was some brush. They were hopping about on scrawny little feet; the white one cawed and twitched its beak over at another. They didn't notice the little hyena.
Teeu crouched down, low to the ground. In other coloring, he would have been ideal, all browns and spots, but here, in the green, it was going to be difficult.

Yeesha was incredibly pleased that her guardian had picked up on her love of water. In exchange for not remodeling his beautiful backyard so they could put a pool in, Jasper had promised that he would take the alligator girl to as many water-based places as he possibly could. The deeper the water the better. All Yeesha had to do was try to be on her best behaviour when they went and he would take her out as often as he could get time off. If she started being a problem with the other children, it was back to the kiddy pool. Yeesha did not like the kiddy pool one bit.
The pond, however, she did like. Jasper had been wise this time and dressed Yeesha along in her pretty green bathing suit. At the sight of the pond, all of her outer garments had been tossed off to reveal the lime green monstrosity – she had added another couple of bows last week – and she had dived in. The water felt absolutely wonderful. Her tail swishing along behind her, Yeesha "stalked" some invisible prey, yellow eyes and half her head just visible over the top of the water. If only there were some real prey...
Her wish was answered when something came trampling over. Whatever this strange furred thing was it was clearly another predator and it was stalking those birds. Yeesha's yellow eyes narrowed, before an idea hit her. Now she was very pleased she had learned those water lunges. With a tail wish she propelled herself towards the hyena boy and then with a big woosh launched herself out of the water and up onto the edge of the pond. "Raaaaaawr!" She yelled, as she landed on palms, sharp teeth bared in her best snarl. Lake monster attack!

Teeu was doing his very, very best to keep himself quiet in the short-cut grass of the park. The birds hadn't seemed to notice him just yet, for reasons unknown to him. They were squeaking and snapping their beaks and hopping about. Tempting, tempting - oh, and dyes. He was tempted. Teeus eyes were narrowed and his front, already rather muscled shoulders tensed up.
One.
His lips were drawn back, ferocious little teeth bared for the world.
Two.
His fingers twitched, ears swiveled forward.
Thr--
SWEET GOD.
There had been a splash, a shriek, and Teeu had jumped. A loud noise, a harsh sharp laughter, left shocked lips. His entire small body tumbled back and fell back against the grass. There, in front of him, was a snarling, yelling, bright green, ugly little creature! It smelled like something with scales and water, but heck if he had a word to put on it right now.
"WHAT YOU DO?!" Teeus voice was a harsh shriek in return. He had his fingers dug roughly into the grass and in response, he hurled clumps of dirt at the oncoming creature. "GAH!"

Hahaha! Her prey had jumped! Yeesha did an internal victory dance as she watched the strange furry creature flee from her water lunge. He was lucky she hadn't been trying to be accurate or else he would have been trapped in the jaws of the Lake Monster! Mwahaha! She had even made it make some sort of strange laughing noise, which wasn't as rewarding as a scream but it would have to do. All that had mattered was that she scared the living daylights out of the other predator, thus proving that she was the superior one. Yeesha -1. Strange furrybutt- 0. She liked the way the score looked.
"Hey!" Yeesha yelled as clumps of dirt we're thrown at her, and retreated a little back into the water. "Don't throw mud at me! Or I'll throw thome back at you!" To demonstrate her point she chucked a handful of pond mud back at the hyena. "Don'tcha know how to play Lake Montther? Duh!" She rolled her eyes at him. Clearly he wasn't a very good sport.

The scoreboard looked rather unbalanced, to be sure. Yeesha had won - until Teeu had thrown his mudballs of fury at her stupid scaley scale-face! He shrieked again as she threw it back. Teeu bounced back, and bared his teeth at her once more.
Teeu - 1. Stupid Scaley Scale-Face - 1.
Eat THAT, Scale-Face! HA!
He chattered out his triumph in short, shrill tones, and ducked closer to the water. Lake Monther? He didn't know no stinkin' lake monther!
"Ugg-lee!" Teeu snapped at her and jerked his foot in an attempt to kick some rocks or dirt bad at her. He wasn't able to vocalize his absolute fury at this stupid girl who dared to intrude on his territory ad challenge his authority. So he stomped his foot and snarled, although he did not try to get into the actual water. That was hers.
"Ugg-lee, go 'WAY! Not YOU! MINE!" Another chatter and more anger. He stomped his foot down roughly, little tail all abristle. The words were meant to be structured and coherent but... well. Teeu was only a toddler.

Yeesha answered Teeu's bared teeth with a flash of her own, before she retreated into the water. Darn mudballs! They were getting in her hair! With a grumble she dunked under water, and then remerged once she was sure her hair was clean. The mudballs were useless when she was wet though, but that also met that she couldn't get very close to her furry prey. Hmm… this was a predicament. She hissed softly, but remained in the water, staring at him with her yellow eyes. Hmmm… what to do…
He made the decision for her when he started calling her names and chattering at her. Just who did this brat think he was? She was the Lake Monster! The prey wasn't allowed to fight back! And the prey was most certainly not allowed to call her ugly! Yeesha clicked her teeth angrily, her tail swishing in the water. "I'm not ugly! You're ugly!" She spat back, and lunged out of the water again. "You smell! Smelly smelly stupid smelly!" Yeesha slid back into the water on her belly and then prepared for another assault. Nobody talked to her like that!

"YOU!!!" Teeu shrieked in his anger. When Yeesha jerked out of the water, Teeu dove at her with clawed hands and a snarl. But she was back in the water! Teeu stumbled and almost fell in himself. The only reason he didn't fall into the water was due to quick scrabbling, although the heavy little hyena fell back into the mud near the water.
Crap.
So, he bared his teeth and pulled one leg back in a threat. Come near me, you ugly beastie, and I will kick you in the head! Kick you in the HEAD, I say!
Of course, Teeu wasn't near coherent or articulate enough to actually say those things aloud. He was only able to growl, lips peeled back and nearly trembling in his anger. Stupid girl! Stupid thing! Coward, stupid, ugly girl! Stupid thing!
He snapped his jaws in fury, and growled.
"Smelly! You smell! PFFFFFBT!" Teeu stuck out his tongue and blew the dumb thing a raspberry as he crawled back while on his back, using elbows as grips. The stupid thing was bigger and older then he was, so there wasn't much he could do while it was IN the water. The water was where she was best and Teeu didn't feel like dying. "Stupid! Go 'way!"
And - ah ha! A rock! Little padded fingers wrapped around the rock and Teeu squeezed. Another growl. One wrong move...

Darn! Yeesha would have been very pleased if the stupid furry boy fell in the water. She was quite fast on land but she was even faster in the water. The water was her element, and she was not yet ready to give up her advantage. All he had to do was trip and fall in and he would be hers. She had to have patience… but it was so hard! He kept calling her ugly and she wanted nothing more than to fling herself out of the water and bite his toes off. Okay, maybe not off but she would bite them until they bled. That would teach him to mind his manners.
With a low growl she waited, barely visible about the water but her yellow eyes focused solely on her prey. Was it worth a kick in the head? She could bite him. Her scales were thick and her teeth was sharp and he was so close. The predator in her wanted very much to just bite him and be done with it. She could death roll in the water if he put up a fight. But she told herself to wait. A little longer. He just needed to be a little closer.
“You smell mooooore! More! More!” Yeesha taunted, as she tread water. “Stupid aaaand smelly and ugly! No brains!” With a final call she took a deep breath and disappeared under water. She wasn’t like her best friend Simon who could breathe underwater, but she could hold her breath and that would give her the element of surprise. Let him come a little closer to the water, or even change his position. She would get him this time.
