~Pre-story~ (Think of the world as being Lord of the Rings-ish, and having all the magickal and fantasy creatures you've ever head of <3) (P.S. Mages are magick-users with one or two particular talents. Ex: a Fire Mage who controls Shadows. A wizard is a magick-user who can control pretty much any type of magick, though say a wizard tried to use fire, it could be very strong, but never as strong as a fire mage's since that would be their forte) Jyrem Sarekellryx is an orphan living in the woods near the outskirts of the Narvome wild elf territory. Normally they don't allow other beings so near to them, but Jyrem's mother was an elf and they tolerate him as a half-breed that they needn't bother with. He has lived devoid of human since he was seven, living off the kindness of random passerby and the occasional kind elf. His father, he was told, was a wizard though Jyrem himself has shown only minimal magickal aptitude. His spells are basic and when he tries to use stronger ones they usually go awry. But he never minded much since he had what he needed to survive and one friend he named X (choose a name, this is your character) X is a Mazam or magickal familiar. (Think of black cats and witches) (Choose an animal for X to be, it can be any kind) Each magick user has a familiar given to them by the Magickal Court, a court of nine members each of varying race that oversee the use of magick and other affairs. Familiars help to guide their charges use their magick and keep them safe. But this is only with suggestion since most cannot talk to their masters. Some magick-users are strong enough that they can form a bond and link to their Mazam, granting them the ability to communicate, but most have non-verbal relationships. Jyrem and X have the non-verbal relationship, but are as close as a familiar and master can be. Jyrem considers X his best friend and treats him as such, and X eventually views Jyrem as his best friend and takes Jyrem being his charge very seriously. Mazams are supposed to be animals endowed with magick, who are then given insight by a magickal human and therefore able to reach human intelligence. But this is often not the case, there are two kinds of Mazams. The least common are the magickally endowed animals, those animals have magick on their own and like most animals are already as smart or smarter than many humans. And then the kind that most magick-users have been given..Mazams that were once people. The first Mazam was made six hundred centuries ago by a wizard named Dremar who still lives today. (Magickal beings have varying but long life spans) Dremar was in a competition with his rival and turned the other into an animal, giving him the idea to make use such people as familiars. Very few people know of this though, since it is a well-guarded secret and they get away with it easily. Many of the Mazam's are transformed criminals or prisoners, guilty and innocent alike, also people that might not be easily missed or that are from other countries. The Mazam's have a strong spell put on them so that they are trapped in animal form and even if they can talk to their partner, they cannot reveal the truth of who they are and must act as an animal. X was captured as a criminal (you can choose if he committed a crime or was innocent) and has been trapped as a Mazam for forty-years. Nineteen of which he has spent in the company of Jyrem. The first ten he spent being locked in a cage and treated as an animal by magickal users until a proper owner could be found. He ran away and managed to escape, hiding out until one day he came upon an elven woman as she had just given birth. X used his magick to heal the woman, who was about to die from sed childbirth and as payment she took X in and they lived in the cottage that Jyrem lives in now. As soon as he touched Jyrem, there was a flash of light and a slit heart shaped mark appeared on what would be X's right wrist if he were still human, and the same mark appeared on Jyrem's right wrist. He knew was to be the boy's familiar though he was reluctant at first. Eventually Jyrem grew on him, being fond of him and treating him kindly unlike the rest of the people. So he decided he would indeed be Jyrem's familiar and keep him safe, especially when the boy's mother died. Nineteen years have passed, Jyrem lives by doing odd jobs here and there and one day he was walking through the forest with X. Winter had started not too long ago and the lake was frozen over with ice..or so he thought. Jyrem ran so that X would chase him and wound up on the ice, he expected it would hold but it started to crack and Jyrem picked X up and tossed him to the shore so that he would not fall in just as the ice gave way under Jyrem. He fell in and was taken by the current and trapped under the ice. X looked down at his friend in horror, his magick welling up inside of him as he realized his friend was about to die. His desperation and rage called out to his magick, and by their bond, Jyrem's as well. The next thing Jyrem is aware of, someone has broken through the ice and pulled him out of the water. ~Prestory End~ ~This is where the story begins, the person that pulled him out is X in human form.~ ~The story will include falling in love, magickal mishaps, trying to stop the familiar-thing-this isn't all that will/can happen this is just some ideas.~ ~At some point in the story, at least once though more is always welcome, I don't care why but X has to turn Jyrem into an animal. Maybe to keep him safe or if they get into an arguement or something..*loves transformations* *puppy eyes*~ ~As stated, feel free to take any liberties. X is either a powerful mage or wizard-and if you like you can make it so that he occasionally reverts to animal form. Maybe just randomly, maybe because of an emotion or using too much magick (just brainstorming, you don't have to) ~Jyrem is mine and X is yours except in flashbacks, otherwise feel free to do anything with any character or just stick to X~ Rules: 1. No cybering, this will have physical scenes but they needn't be graphic. 2. Please be as literate as possible, at least five sentences a post and nothing like "x superman dawes went to the movies and dawes said hey i like movies and superman laughed cause superman is awesome" 3. Jyrem Sarekellryx ran through the forest, laughing as Vallyn darted through the woods and chased after him. Vallyn was his familiar, a winter fox, and his dearest friend for all nineteen years of his life. "You'll have to run faster than that, Vallyn!" The familiar gave a happy yip as he followed Jyrem, allowing the boy to race ahead. And then the fox growled this time as a low warning but it was too late.
Jyrem ran onto a frozen lake, slowing as he realized where he was. Winter was a few weeks in, but that hardly meant it would be safe to be on the lake. For a moment he stood and looked down at the water, taking a ginger step to judge the ice. When it didn't break, he sighed in relief and looked to Vallyn as he took a step forward, "It's fine, Val-" Suddenly the ice cracked and Jyrem was visible no more as he fell through.
The current tore over him and dragged him away from the hole to where it was solid. He banged against the ice, trying to hold his breath as the cold water covered him more and more. Finally he came to a stop, but try as he might the ice would not break. Slowly his vision began growing dark..and then the ice cracked and he felt a warm hand gripping his own as he was being pulled out of the water. He wasn't sure who'd pulled him out and for the moment he was too cold and dizzy to pay attention to certain features on his savior. His body was icy to the touch, and rather pale in color at the moment. Jyrem managed to mumble a shaky, "Thanks," as he leaned against the one who'd pulled him out.

"Hn," Kain hissed through the cold. He crouched stark naked in the snow, having Jyrem lean against him. Thanks to his many years as a winter fox, the cold didn't pierce into him as quickly as it should have. "We need to get off the ice," he said, still hissing slightly. Due to his adrenaline caused by Jyrem's fall, he hadn't noticed that he had changed forms or that he was speaking out loud.
He stood up slowly, and nearly fell over. It was than that the realization dawned on him. He was bi-pedal!! He was standing up and he really did just talk! "What....?" was all that he managed. His hands darted up to his face and he blinked.... more than once. He was stunned and in total awe. He was human.... but did that mean the spell was completely gone?!

(Hoorah! Yayyyy!)
Jyrem had been roughly pulled from the water, but the thought barely registered. He was numb with cold and the dizzyness of nearly blacking out, of nearly dying. His eyes refused to open, in fact, they seemed to weigh upon him as he struggled to keep his mind from clouding over. Jyrem heard a voice, a hissing voice.. one that sounded..familiar?
As he leaned again the other, he tensed for a moment before relaxing slightly. Thoughts and blurs of images were running through his head, threatening to overwhelm him and in a moment of desperation he instantly opened his eyes. The dimming light reached his eyes and stung them, brighter to him than they were in truth due to the darkness of the water..of his numbed mind.
His eyes stared up at the sky in a squint before they traveled, settling on the face of a man he didn't recognize. For a moment, he stared blankly as the other stood, hands moving over his face. "Who are you?" He paused and furrowed his brow as if thinking before saying somewhat questioningly, somewhat gratefully, "You saved me..thank you." Jyrem had thanked the other earlier, but he'd been far from aware so he felt that it was best to thank the other while in his more or less right senses.
Jyrem moved as if to stand, grimacing as he stood on shaky legs. He squinted slightly at the other, trying to clear his vision as he looked up at the dark-haired, brown-eyed man before him..eyes that seemed familiar too, but his foggy head couldn't connect who they reminded him of at the moment.

"I am Vallyn... No..." he said. "No... my name is Kain," he shook his head. Trying to remember everything in that short of a perioud was hard... and almost impossible. Kain shook his head again, much like a dog would. "I was Vallyn. I am your Mazam... or possibly was..."
Kain's speech was hard to understand to say the least. There was no way to tell how long it had been since he had last spoken... Kain... or Vallyn, who ever he was took a step forwards, towards Jyrem. "It really is me," he said, but as his foot landed in the snow he fell to his knees. Apparently walking on two legs had been something forgotten in the past as well.
"I don't know what I am..." Not knowing made him furious. How does one not know who or what he is? It's almost stupid. But here Kain/Vallyn was, at a total loss for words. He didn't know how to explain it to himself, not to mention Jyrem.

(I have to go soon- Its 4:24 my time and I work from 5pmto9pm Sun thru Wed X_X)
Jyrem watched as the man shook his head and called himself first Vallyn and then Kain. From there, he claimed that he'd been Vallyn, and was his Mazam..or not? But at the mention of Vallyn, his eyes widened slightly as he remembered why those eyes looked so familiar..those eyes were Vallyn's! And looking around..his little Vallyn was not darting about his feet in usual form, no..there was no Vallyn, only the man with Vallyn's eyes..
The other took a step forwards, and he took a cautious step back, watching the man. And then the other fell to the ground, sounding confused..frustrated perhaps..Jyrem looked down at the man whose eyes were those he'd looked into so many times..those words..and then he noticed something around the man's wrist..a small bracelet of sworts, little strings wrapped together around a an ever-living vine. His eyes widened slightly again, that was the bracelet he'd made for his little fox..his little Vallyn.
"Vallyn," he breathed the name in shock. And then he instantly came forward and kneeled beside the other, almost tackling him as he wrapped the other in a hug that was warm despite Kain's nakedness and Jyrem's wetness. For the moment, he didn't notice Kain's lack of clothing due to the rather large shock of his pet being turned into a human. Jyrem hugged the other a bit tighter, "It's really you, Val. You were the one that saved me.." Jyrem used the endearment nickname of 'Val'.

Vallyn nodded, smiling at the nickname. "I don't know what happened," he managed to say through now chattering teeth. "You were in trouble... so I guess I saved you... but I don't know why I'm like this. Maybe you're a better wizard than I thought..." He smiled at that.
"But why did I change now?" he asked, though he knew Jyrem couldn't possibly know the answer. He shook his head again, trying to clear it. He moved closer into Jyrem's arms. This closeness was normal for him, and Jyrem was somewhat warmer than the cold air despite being wet. "Your wet..." he said after a long moment. It shouldn't have been a surprise to Jyrem... he did just almost drown...

Jyrem listened and noted the smile as he pulled away slightly to look at the other. And then he noticed the chattering teeth and almost responded before hearing the bit about the wizard. He grimaced, "Hey! Be nice!" It wasn't his fault he was such a poor wizard..some people were just naturally gifted he supposed. And he likewise supposed he was not such a person.
The other moved closer and then commented on his wetness, Jyrem grimaced again as he remembered the other's state. "Sorry. Come on, let's get you home and clothed," as usual, his only concern was for the other, "I'll give you a bat..er..you can take a bath." That's right..now that Vallyn was like this, several things would probably change..Jyrem moved his cloak from his shoulders, it was probably the driest of all of his clothes oddly enough, made of a special material. No, it wasn't completely dry and thereby not completely warm, but certainly better than being naked. The cloak was long enough to wrap around Vallyn entirely and go a little past his kneecaps.
Jyrem placed the cloak around Vallyn and pulled away enough to stand, taking Vallyn up with him. He took a moment to adjust, noting the height difference, he was no longer the taller, noting how different Vallyn's eyes appeared when framed in the new body. "Wow," he murmered absently, before remembering himself and blushing slightly, "Alright then." Jyrem brought an arm around Vallyn's upper back and over his shoulder, "I'll help you, just one foot in front of the other, just like when you were on four legs..it's just that now your on two." He was not worried in the least about helping the other, not puzzled. All he could think was that the magick had somehow gone and changed his friend. The thought never occured to him that this human form was Vallyn's true form, he assumed the other was truly born a fox. Jyrem smiled warmly at the other as he began walking.

Vallyn stumbled alot over his own feet and over Jyrem's as well. This walking business was just too hard. Talking was a different matter. His mouth now moved in quite a few different ways than it had originally. He didn't understand any of this!
He didn't push Jyrem away or anything like he would have done in his human life. Instead he relied on him. Vallyn was o so confused and it was nice to have Jyrem thinking calmly for once. He continued to shiver under the cloak, but it was alot better than standing in the frigid air. It was also a good thing that home wasn't so far away.
"Wh-what are we going to d-do?" Vallyn asked through his chattering teeth. The words still came out as long drawn out hisses. Before he would have given anything to break the spell of being a Mazam... but now all he wanted was to go back to his fox form and take over Jyrem's lap. Why do things change when he gets comfortable?!

Jyrem chuckled as Vallyn stumbled over his feet and Jyrem's also. "Careful, clumsy," he said fondly. Of course, he was helping Vallyn happily, and he would ensure his friend did not stumble or fall. The other shivered, so Jyrem hugged the othter a bit closer as the walked, rubbing the other a bit to create warm friction. "We're going to go home and get you warm, that's what." The house was in view now, they'd be home soon to both of their reliefs he suspected.

Vallyn nodded and said nothing. Walking barefoot in the snow was painful. The snow had a dry feel to it and crunched under his heavier weight. He was sinking slowly, but he kept trudging on, knowing that the distance wasn't all that bad. He looked up every so often to see the house come closer and closer in view. It would only be a matter of minutes now before he would walk into the warm interior and slip into a warmer bath.
He smiled at the thought and nuzzled into Jyrem. This, mind you, was something he'd always done in his other form. Space was never really an issue when he was smaller. They were known for sharing the same bed on particularly cold nights or when one or the other just wanted some company. So why was this any different?

Jyrem smiled at the nuzzle, chuckling a bit. As they reached the house and opened the door, allowing Vallyn inside first. "Alright then, now onto your bath.." He headed for the bathroom, hitting one of the levers that controlled the area and pumped water throughout, self-heating as hot water poured from the faucet.
Jyrem glanced to Vallyn..should he leave the other alone? Vallyn had never taken one alone before, or so he thought. "Do you need me to stay with you, Val?" Jyrem's voice and expression were concerned.

When Jyrem went to the controls for the hot water, Vallyn stumbled to try and keep up. "I don't think I can manage..." he replied, the fret and worry obvious in his voice. "This... this is too much..." He was almost pleading with Jyrem, though he knew deep down there was nothing his wizard could do. The magic that had flowed between them wasn't likely to do so again. Even if it could, how could they duplicate it?
Vallyn shuddered, knowing he needed to get control over himself. Him acting like a helpless child wasn't going to do either of them any good. He was human once before, it would only take a matter of time before all of the motions came flooding back to him. "I... could use the help," he finally hissed after a long moment.

(Sorry it took so long, I hadn't even really realized it X_x. *scatterbrained sometimes* *very..very..scatterbrained* *givez you a cookie* I'm SORRY!)
Jyrem listened to the other, hearing the fret and worry. Vallyn didn't think he could do it, well that was alright, no one expected fox to know these things. "It's alright," he said soothingly, rubbing a hand along Vallyn's back. At the other's hiss, he blinked, before nodding, "Of course, Vallyn."
The water finally finished, plugged and ready and he motioned the other to the water, "Just climb in and sit down, you'll feel better soon." He smiled reassuringly at the other, removing the jacket and looking towards the water. Jyram knew Vallyn was still Vallyn..but staring at an unclothed male, especially Vallyn, made him want to blush for some reason he couldn't explain.

(no worries 3nodding )
Vallyn seemed oblivious to Jyrem's problem. He gently slid into the bath, trying to make sure he didn't slip. Which was no small feat, mind you. He had obvious problems walking, and once you added in a smooth surface such as the bath, it took all of his focus to slide gently in. He sighed very contently as the warm water started to do its work on him. Almost instantly he wasn't shivering any more, as well as some color started back into his pale frame.
Vallyn had been a Mazam for 100 years, the sudden change was a shock to his system, something he hadn't realized yet. He had only been human for 19 short years. Needless to say, the mannerisms of human nature had been lost to him. "Do you want to join?" he hissed, something normal when he was in his fox form. But now... now it was just odd to hear him say it.
