Gem yawned as she walked beside one of the police officers she worked with, it had been a long night for her. She had stayed up till two AM, according to the humans clock, chasing humans who had robbed a bank. 'Such stupid humans i wonder why they bother running..." she sighed shaking her head slowly, she was fast and they were better off staying their car where she couldn't sink her teeth into them, though it wasn't very often that a human crook was smart enough to realize that. Today seemed to be a peaceful day so far, she had gotten up to do some training and now she was on patrol about the city, nothing big had happened so far, and she considered the walk to be quite nice.

'Walk, walk, walk!' Tahwen was practically bouncing at the end of her leash, the child holding the other end of it would've been dragged along if the dachshund had been a bigger dog. The dappled female paused to sniff one thing only to rush away the next moment to sniff something else. She came to a halt as she caught scent of another dog.
"Hihihi!" The dachshund happily greeted the much bigger dog, eagerly running up to Gem, tail wagging happily behind her. "Whatcha doing? Huh? Huh? Walking's nice, isn't it? I like walking! Walking is fun! Lots of things to sniff!!"

Gem slowed as the smaller dog neared her, and she tilted her head confused by the loquacious dogs excited demeanor. "uh hello?" she furrowed her eyebrows as she tried to figure out what to reply to first, her tail wagged slowly behind her. "I'm protecting the city" she said lifting her head to hold it high, a chuckle escaped her lips. "walking is very nice, i suppose" she smiled glancing around worriedly, the world could be ending and she wouldnt notice if she was distracted. her eyes darted back to the little dachshund "sniffing is very helpful, it helps me with my job"

"Ooooh, protecting the city? That's your job! Jobs must be nice! My master's parents have jobs! They leave... and my master leaves for school. But they play with me lots when they get home! I didn't know dogs could get jobs!" Throughout the entire hyper speech, Tahwen bounced at the end of her leash. The child accompanying her seemed a bit nervous about Tahwen pestering the police dog. But the female dachshund acted like a puppy, even though she was fully grown.

Gem nodded smiling "its a very interesting job" she chuckled watching the little dog. "We dogs can get jobs, though it requires hard work and training...." she glanced at the leash and traced it up to the childs hand and she frowned. "i think i'm making your human worry." she frowned slightly turning her gaze back to the energetic dachshund.

Tahwen paused to look up at Gem for a moment, her hindquarters wiggling with the action of her tail. "Work? Work... And training? That sounds hard..." The dachshund glanced back at the child. "Hmm? Oh, Master does look worried..." Her tail paused as she eyed the youngster. "I wonder why. I don't like seeing Master look like this..." The female bounced over to the child's feet, jumping up to lick the face when the child knelt to pet the dog. "There! Master looks better!" Tahwen proclaimed, glancing back over at Gem. "That your master?" She glanced at the policeman near the larger dog.

Gem chuckled, she found this little dog quite entertaining. "yes work is very hard but it is fulfilling" she smiled, sitting, so she could scratch at her neck with her back foot. A slight giggle left her lips as she watched the dog's bouncing. She smiled "your human does seem better now" she glanced over at the police man who was watching the interaction curiously and she shook her head. "no he is not my master, i don't have one.... or in a way i have more then one" she chuckled.

"Fulfilling? How so?" The dachshund looked back up at the policeman again. "Don't have one?!" The little dog was startled at that. "Why not? Wait... how do you mean 'more than one'?" The dog sat, rather confused now. "My master has parents, but they aren't my masters. My master is still a pup, but is my master all the same...."

Gem grinned, she was going to enjoy explaining this. "well i fight bad guys" she laughed. "i get to chase bad humans who commit crimes and bite them, its quite fun" she giggled. smiling she tried to explain the next part simply "well im "owned" by the whole police force since i work for them." she chuckled "your human seems nice, even if she is a pup"

Tahwen's jaw dropped open, her tongue lolling out. "Really!? Wow..." The dachshund grinned. "Sounds like fun, though! Getting to chase bad humans around! Though, biting's not very nice... but... I guess they deserve it if they're bad?" The little dog seemed a bit confused over that. "Biting hurts..." However, the conversation went back to her master and she perked right back up. "Very very nice! Gives very good pettings!" Tail wagging once more, the dachshund grinned up at her master.

Gem chuckled at her reaction, 'this dog is fairly amusing" she grinned at the thought. "Yep" she said standing taller, proud. "they definetly deserve it, they do bad things like steal and kill." she nodded slowly listening carefully. "biting does hurt.... i suppose." she chuckled running her tongue over her teeth. She looked up at the dogs human and grinned "so it seems... why else would you be so happy" she laughed

"Steal? They steal food?" After all, what else would be worthy of stealing? At least from a dog's point of view. "Killing is very bad. Yes, they deserve to be bitten then." Tahwen grinned, her tail wagging again. "Exactly! Pettings are very nice! Do you get pettings?"

Gem nodded "yep they steal food and other things as well" she chuckled, her violet eyes glittered. "yeah killing is terrible and they shoot at humans and dogs" she frowned remembering one particularly close call, where she had almost been hit by a bullet as she pulled a human out of the way. She looked down at the dog "i get pettings when ive done a good job" she smiled "i also get treats too"

Tahwen's tail wagged happily. "Pettings are nice and treats are even better! But isn't it scary to chase down bad guys who shoot at you?" The dachshund thought that it would be very scary indeed. "Bad humans need to be caught, but what if they hurt you?" The female pondered on that. "Getting hurt is bad..."

Gem nodded "yep very nice" she smiled. "it is a little scary at times but i love the thrill of the chase and the adrenaline rush, besides im willing to throw my life away if it means i can save someone" she grinned puffing out her chest proudly. "whatever they do to me i can take it"
