The little filly scrambled around the borders of her little home. She held a flower in her mouth, or what she assumed was a flower. In actuality it was thistle, little barbs sticking out of the red flowers base, but as far as the winged one knew it was the prettiest plant in the world. Like her tail, the little plant held barbs that hurt when touched, and therefor it made them one in the same. The minute she saw it, Numielle knew it was special and knew exactly who it was meant for. . . .

Her Mommy.

Sometimes it wasn't easy being around the black haired angeni. Sometimes the little filly found herself hurt when her mother wasn't around, or when she had to take her leave or seemed to struggle to remember exactly who Numielle was. Though she knew nothing more, and while others might judge such a family life, the little spiked filly couldn't dare ask for anything more. She wanted to give Nimue the thistle if only because it just might remind her mother of herself. . .

The red of her hair, the spikes similar to her tail. This flower was a gift for Nimue, and Numielle wouldn't rest until she found her mother dearest.

Step by step, she paused now and then, peeking underneath a rock or sticking her head in the nearest bush in hopes of finding Nimue. She couldn't call or cry out lest she drop her flower and break it, but thankfully the familiar form of white and black stood out amongst the late summer colours. Humming a little made up tune, wings occasionally flapping as she trotted around the borders and edges of their home, thankfully for the black and blue eyed filly it didn't take long to complete her mission.

Black hair, ebony wings, and a familiar skulled mask finally came in to view. With a little squeal in delight, thistle still clamped firmly in her mouth, Numielle happily trotted up to her mother. She was staring up at the sky, possibly at the clouds (or so Numielle assumed) and it was with a little giggle she pushed herself up against her mother. She was growing fast and getting too big to cuddle in between her legs but that didn't stop the winged one. Pushing herself through and around Nimue's legs, cuddling close and nuzzling at her mothers shoulder, two black and blue eyes stared happily up at her mother, cobweb thistle still clamped firmly in her mouth, the little filly waited for Nimue to step away from her daydreams.

It had been so long since someone, that she couldn't remember, had told her something that the mare would never forget. She had been a little filly at the time, so excited to grow up and be big and beautiful like her parents. Even now in her mind's eye she could see the two shrouded figures but knew exactly who they were. Oh how she'd cry when each time she looked at her reflection she was still the same little girl she'd been the day before, only to hear her father chuckle at her actions instead of condemn them.

Nimue...baby, just slow down. His deep voice would rumble in her ears as she looked up to him confused. Its hard to believe, but you're going to miss this; you're going to want this back. You're going to wish these days, hadn't gone by so fast. These are some good times so take a good look around....you may not know it now...but you're going to miss this.

God, how she knew now exactly what her father had meant.

Biting her lip as her eyes kept searching amongst the clouds for anything, a sign, a familliar face....she could feel her dark eyes begin to water. It wasn't long after that, that her life changed - never to be the same again. She didn't regret giving her heart away when she had, for that was what she believed to be the right thing to do at the time....but if she had the chance to go back; she might have read more into her love...instead of being so eager to really grow up and start a family. Yet in the same train of thought....it it wasn't for everything happening; she wouldn't have what she had now. Two families...kind of. Reaper, Airlia, Gabriel, Sabriel....they would have never come into her life if it wasn't for fate; even if she wasn't on good terms with all but one of them. Ezriel, Nimuelle, Ennuiel, Minuet...already her new kids were growing up; becoming young adults. Soon they would be full grown and leave once more.

Speaking of which, a gentle brush brought her back to reality as the dark mare looked down through her mask towards the ground to see her little bright red headded daughter wrapped amongst her legs. This was.....was....Numielle! A gentle smile graced her lips as she was thankful that she could at least remember her name this time, the little filly had grown a bit taller as her hair had begun to wave out amongst her face and neck. Tenderly leanding down she tucked a few longer locks behind her hair to keep from getting into her eyes as her own dual set of wings curled down to fold Numielle's against her side to keep from tickling her underbelly.

She didn't speak though, trying to drill once more her image into her mind; oh why, why did she have to forget all those that was close to her?

That was when though she noticed the small flower in her maw, red and black with what looked like spikes. Nimue couldn't recall what its name was though, and blinked her blue pupils at it curiously. "What do you have there, Numi?"

The little filly stared up as Nimue looked down; past the skulled features, black and blue eyes meeting their mirrored image. She stared hard, searching for some spark of recognition, of love, of acceptance and though she wasn't sure she found it the fact that her mother touched her was all the filly needed. Swiftly her tail swished, though with a small gasp she stopped such a thing - heaven forbid she accidentally cut her mother and make her bleed. . .

Sometimes her tail had a mind all its own and stained people red in the process. She had to be more careful but, all the same, she usually forgot. Thankfully though today was not one of those days!

Black and blue eyes glittered with delight as Nimue tucked her hair behind her head. Such a moment was precious to the little one, more than her family might realize - physical touch and affection was what the uniangeni lived for; any sort of contact made her day, and if the one she was with wasn't going ot cuddle than Numielle most certainly would. What made this moment so joyous for the filly was that Nimue had touched her first. . . well. . . almost first. . . and that only caused the little one to love her ever more.

This was her mother. . .even if sometimes Nimue forgot.

Ah, but then Nimue spoke, and the little one found herself at a cross road. If she answered the little thistle would fall and possibly break or get soiled (no matter that she plucked it from the ground originally); but if she didn't speak her mother would never ever know it was for her! Still unmoving and snuggled between Nimue's legs, she stretched out her neck and managed to tuck the thistle gently in her mothers hair.

It didn't stay well, and tilted haphazardly, but at least she had given it to Nimue. Smiling brightly up, after a little nuzzle against her mothers leg, Numielle happily spoke. "It's a present I found, just for you!" Her little rump wriggled a bit as excitement and joy grew within the affectionate girl. She hoped her mother would like it. . . .

"It's a pretty flower! And . . .and it has my red hair in it and spikes, just like me! This way when you wear it, you can remember me cause it looks just like my twin! But you know what? It isn't really my twin, remember, because it's still a flower and I dun have petals!" As if Nimue needed the clarification.

Why did she not speak? Had Nimue said something wrong already in their short time together? Knitting her brows (although one would never know thanks to her mask) she waited one, two moments as the little ivory filly seemed conflicted in her movements. Luckily for the mare the confusion was short lived as her little neck craned up to nestle the flower amongst her ebony locks; falling slightly as it adjusted and became lopsided but it still allowed her to see what it was.

Listening closely to what Numielle had to say, as she spoke she could picture her in the flower, the red hair sticking up just like hers did now; the little spikes on her tail....deadly...but it made the flower what it was. Part of who it was infact....would Nimue still be Nimue if she didn't have her skull mask...no. She would be the mare she was before; innocent to the world and perhaps....well; none of her children would be alive if her life had been the fairytale she wanted it to be.

No....no matter what happened to her; her children and family was all she had left. It would be the ultimate sin to wish against their existance for her own happiness.

Just like this one....perhaps her happiness lived on in them.

Yes, she liked that idea.

"It is pretty....just like you little angel." The mare coo'ed out slightly, her eyes gazing over in hidden tears as she smiled. using her wings she removed the little thistle out from her hair where it could drop and instead wound the stem into her dreamcatcher where it would stay put.

"Nimue will try and remember, try her hardest okay...that Numielle is Numielle and not a flower....but just as pretty as one." Tries to offer her daughter a convincing smiles, but knew their father had explained of her 'condition'. She wasn't sure how her other daughters thought of her inability to keep her mind in a straight line...but it was plain as day that Numielle didn't care. Her affectionate nature was in an abundance!

The little filly watched with delight as her mother moved and planted the little flower firmly upon her dream catcher. She cuddled her mothers leg, nuzzling her muzzle against her side as a great smile lined her features - she was keeping it! It would be Nimue's now and forever and life would be incredibly good. . . .

Further more, she had been called a little angel! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Gulping back a squeal, and giggling happily instead, Numielle couldn't stay put. She finally pulled herself out from underneath her mother and happily trotted and danced around her, black eyes bright with delight. She was keeping her flower, she was keeping her flower~! The little chant ran through her head confidently, as if warding off all the insecurities and uncertainty she had once felt before.

"Oh Mommeh!" She sighed, finally allowing herself to come to a halt in front of Nimue, her little wings flapping to keep her gangly form balanced in such excitement. "I know you'll try to 'member, honest you will! And, and, and I know that if you do forget you din' do it on purpose. . . you'll just have to be reminded a little, yep, yep, yep! And if the flower doesn't do it, or if it falls out, or gets lost, or dies, you don't have to worry about that none neither!" Numielle tried her best to mimic such reassurance, leaning up to cuddle her mothers neck while reaching out to wrap one set of her wings around Nimue's forleg. "Cause I'll remind you in case you forget, so you'll never have to worry about not knowing! Numielle'll remember for you, just in case. . . . " Puffing out her chest proudly, the little red haired filly would never be able to understand Penance's wariness about her home life.

She received affection, albeit it somehow was a bit skewed. And though her mother often disappeared, and though Ezriel sometimes took off after, it was still her family and that was all that mattered. If Nimue didn't care she wouldn't have kept her flower or called her pretty like an angel. If Nimue didn't care she wouldn't have said she would try to remember.

"Numielle loves her Mommeh, oh yes, yes she does!" The little filly had to say it while she had captured the skulled ones attention. Again, such words might easily be forgotten and replaced, but so long as she reminded Nimue of such a thing than all would be well. At least for little Numielle.

Numielle's smile was indeed contagious as the mare found herself smiling under the protective shadow of her skull mask. Watching fondly as she squirmed out from under her legs to dance around in such a joyous nature, she often thought if perhaps she'd forgotten if she was like this when even she was a foal. Nimue hoped so, for by looks alone this filly looked incredibly happy; and not many stopped to realize how lucky they were to be able to say they were truely so. Perhaps in her own mindset, she'd come to know that it was such a fickle and fleeting emotion with the ability to be so hard to find in an instant.

Yet then something hit her, and something hit her hard.

Waves of emotions crashed against her being, fumbling with her sanity as she realized once more just how horrid it was that she had to be constantly reminded of such important things by her family. That Ezriel was her mate, that Numielle, Minuet and Ennuiel was her kids. The curse shaded the fact that she did keep such a close eye on her foals, always from the shadows....yet even when she couldn't remember who they were, or that she birthed them....she was inevitably drawn to each of them even in the moments where she could barely cling on to her sanity.

It was a special kind of love and devotion; one that not even she could understand, let alone anyone else. Whilst Ezriel, bless his heart, was chasing after her....she was infact chasing after each of her foals before being found. If she could recall her daily actions perhaps she could have shed some light into her foal's hearts; but alas....the gods were not that kind.

Dropping to her knees before her little angel, the tears ran freely down her mask as each wing found their way to curl around Numielle to draw her close. Wrapping her neck around her own small slender one, the mare shook her head as if in a trance. "Momma doesn't want to forget....Nimue always forgets, always.....Don't want to....Always slipping through her hooves..." She wept, every time she thought she was close to knowing...to finally being able to remember a number of things it would simply wash away with the tide of her curse.

She had to find a way out of this mentality, to be forgiven for this curse which had wreaked so many lives in her wake. Nimue didn't want to be the cause for ruining her three daughter's lives, just like she had done with her first batch of children and their father. No, these ones were too innocent to go through that; she'd make damn sure of it.

"Nimue will find a way to love you always, Numi....one which won't be forgotten okay?"

The little filly's eyes went wide as the large mare before her began to crumble. Numielle tried her hardest to understand what her mother was babbling on about, tried to piece together the pain in her soul that caused Nimue to cry and weep so harshly; what had happened? Why had her most beloved mother broke!?

Numielle felt a moments panic and heartbreak as she was tenderly envelped by her mother. Burying her face close t her mothers neck and hair, doing her best to cuddle as close as she dared, she tightened her own little grip around her mothers leg with her wings; how could she fix the hurts? How could she fix her mothers tears?

"Don't cry, Mommeh!" Numi squeaked, desperation ringing out as she tried hard to remedy the scenario. "It's OK if you forget, cause I know you don't mean to; Numi'll always, always remind you that you're loved, oh yes, yes she will!" It was a promise she vowed to make no matter what happened. Her own black and blue eyes began to glisten with her own tears, emotion overwhelming her as she watched her mother cry.

"Numi'll never let you forget, Numi promises! And you'll never have to worry cause you'll always be loved. . .always, always, always." And wasn't that the truth! It didn't matter to Numielle if her ebony haired mother forogt; yes, it hurt sometimes when she went away or when the mare hadn't a clue who it was she spoke to. . .

But Numielle understood. Innocent she might be she knew that the mare tried her best and was there often enough; their family might not be perfect but it was the only life she understood. Never would she betray such a family, never would she hurt her mother or denounce her love and affection just because Nimue accidently forgot. . .

Numielle would remind her everday if she had to and that's exactly what she planned. There was no need for a cure. . . . Nimue was loved just the way she was. Snuggling as tight as she could, the little one gingerly wrapped her tail around her mothers front leg, aware that her spikes would cause discomfort but unwillingly to release her from her pained grip.

She wanted Nimue to know she was there even through her tears. "No tears for Mommeh. . . . Never tears for you."

The pain of her little tail was actually...quite refreshing. The mare knew pain well, be it mental or physical. She could relate, understand and remember the pain of the scars and wounds on her body. Perhaps it was a dark twist of fate that the gods induced on her, yet pain was the only comfort she knew. She remembered when she was attacked by the skinwalker, escaping its rampage only to be left for dead when she was reunited with Ezriel. She remembered the pain from both her sets of children's birth...she remembered the pain she caused Ezriel in a fit of rage when she'd found out he had foals with another.

She would remember this moment too.

Using her own tail she gently drove the spikes of her daughter's tail into her leg, wincing softly as blood trickled gently from the few punctured wounds. The pain and scars left from this would hopefully keep this moment alive in her mind, since not much stuck in her limited memories. She didn't want to forget this love...this beautiful time in her baby girl's life where she loved her mommy, incase it changed like it had with Airlia. Unfortunately the night she turned on her eldest daughter was something she'd rather forget, the scars from her tail against her side a constant memory of the three kids she'd left behind....of Reaper who was so much like her, but in the end she'd scorned to be with Ezriel who she was destined to all along.

"As long as Numi doesn't mind....to remind Nimue, then Nimue couldn't be happier." She smiled down to her baby girl, wrapping her wings as tight as she could without hurting her baby in a hug.

As her tears finally stopped, she nuzzled the top of her nose with her chin, looking down at her with even more brilliant blue eyes from the tears. "Nimue will not cry, no no...only in happiness - okay?" Looking up from their spot, she noticed Minuet standing offside in the clearing looking a bit confused. Nudging Numielle softly, she motioned with her head towards Minuet.

"Nimue will go get us all some foods, yes yes MMmm. Numi go play with Minuet, yes?" Beaming softly, the mare turned to go fetch some food. She knew of a nice apple tree which would have some very scrumptious apples now in the branches.

Minuet of course only blinked....should she...interfere? She knew that their mother wasn't all there...barely there more like it. Yet when she thought that Nimue could possibly hurting Numi, she was relieved to see they were sharing a moment together. After all, she'd taken it upon herself to see that everyone was alright and accounted for when father was off.

"Hello Numi..." She smiled, flicking her tail as she knew she'd have to keep Numi busy while their mom was out for a bit.

Numielle didn't want to let her mother go. . . In fact, a small part of her wished that the moment they shared could last forever and ever; that Nimue would never have to leave or forget again, that Numielle wouldn't have to wistfully wait and come up with clever devices to attract her mothers attention. She knew she was loved and knew it wasn't Nimue's fault. . . but that didn't mean she liked being without her mother.

Ah, but such was their lot in life and Numielle had never been one to question such circumstance. Nimue loved her even if she sometimes forgot; but such a love was remembered by the little filly and would never be forgotten. Watching her mother go, a bit grudgingly, the little colt finally turned her black and blue gaze upon her sister.

Eyes brightening, the winged way gave a very awkward lurch forward; half skipping half-gliding over to where Minuet awaited. She wasted no time to attach herself firmly to her sister, burying her face against Minuet's neck in an affectionate nuzzle and wrapping a set of her wings about her sisters shoulder to keep her still.

"SISSSSSSSYYYYY~!" She crooned gleefully, all the adoration in the world meant only for her strong and brave sister. She adored both Minuet and Ennuiel, but she was better aquainted with Minuet's protectiveness. She took after their father, a warrior in a sense, and was much more brave than Numielle could ever be. Minuet was the family's savior, as far as she could understand, and Numielle could only coo and sigh over such a fate. Numielle wasn't very good at being perceptive or brave. . . . Not at all. But at least her favoritest sister was!

"Numi knows that Mama's gonna be right back with food, oh yes she is! Some sort of nummy treat, you know. . . .Numi's hungry. . .is Sisseh?" She tilted her head, barely releasing her from her grasp wanting nothing more than to continue with her cuddling.

It was her favorite past-time and hobby, after all. And she didn't often get a good excuse to snuggle up to her sister.
