-----------------------------------------

Okay.

This time she'd try her best to go for a graceful landing!

It wasn't so bad when it was only her and there was no one around to see her hit the ground or make a fool of herself. When she'd beenwith Nyoka, his coils around her neck, she'd been shouted at everytime she'd come into land. Since he'd been gone, however, she'd been happy just to let herself hit the ground; close her eyes and hope for the best. But Silos was with her now and she certainly didn't want to be seen rolling over and over in the dirt in a big flailing ball of fur.

So, tilting her wings and preparing herself for landing she watched the ground sweep up close.

One, two....

Oops...

The ground was closer than it appeared and she landed forepaws first, the angle of her landing meaning that she was tipped head over heels. She came to a halt on her back, looking up at the spinning sky, her wings stretched out on the ground beside her.

"Ouch..." She rubbed her head with a paw and straightened the golden band across her forehead.

--

For some odd reason, Silos would have never really... guessed her to be such a poor flier; the girl had looked quite graceful on land, and if anything, her wings were one of the most beautiful things he'd ever seen. However, he soon enough learnt that Roko (or Pelli ... or both, he wasn't sure just yet) was not only a horrible flier, but failed much worse at landing, to the point he was afraid she was going to break her bones or neck in one of those crash-landings.

The god winced slightly as the girl came in contact with the ground, her wings stretched out under her, "We need toy work on your landing, hon," this said, he placed his feet on the ground, managing to land rather gracefuly even despite his almost comically dimunute wings. Stepping over her body, he positioned himself so he was standing half over her, checking for injuries. Of course... froma distance though, the scene could easily be misinterpreted.

--

"We know!" She exlaimed bashfully. "We know! We do try but it happens too fast and then, bam! We hit the ground and topple all about." She looked a little embarrased now and as he came to stand over her she lifted her hind legs to push against him lightly.

"Paws are much more reliable, yes?" She giggled.

Odd really. She'd never really taken to flying. She preferred to use her feet where possible, though with having friends all over the place she'd eventually taken to flying. When her journey had just begun and Nyoka had been with her she'd tended to walk all over the place making journeys through the sky only when she had a long way to go.

--

Nearby another creature watched the two from a distance. She couldn't hear what they were saying but all she knew was that something was amiss.

Nissa had not seen a god before but she'd heard of them. She'd ever heard rumours that there was god ancestry in her family, though she'd never put much faith in it.

However, suddenly a goddess was falling from the sky a little distance away and now another god was looming over her. Trying to kill her?

Nissa, a meddler, was always putting her nose where it wasn't wanted and this was no different. She could see that this girl needed help, probably stunned from the fall, and she certainly wasn't going to sit back here and let it happen.

So, pushing the feather headdress into proper position on her head she pushed herself into a run, a thunderous growl tearing free as she prepared her leap.

--

"I noticed," he couldn't help but chuckle, despite himself, for now that he'd double checked that she was safe and sound, the hilarity of the situation was hard to miss, "You think? I 'unno, I think they can be as much traitors are wings. Just gotta learn some way to... be able to tell distance. I think your problem is that you're confused about it," a small snort was breathed out then, mostly due to the pun.

He was about to get off from her when a thunderous roar of a growl was heard from the near distance; a dark black shape was running towards them at full speed, and for a moment, Silos was stunned. Usualy, mortals would not bother him, and yet this lioness was running straight towards them. After a second had passed, Silos stepped off from Roko and placed himself in front of her, protectively (he had told her he would protect her from danger, after all) and then lifted a paw, waving it to send power, a spell, directed at the charging adolescent. Soon enough, the dark female would feel her body shrink... and shrink... till she would be no more than a cub looking up at him.

--

"You think so?" She giggled. She was always confused about everything, now it made sense why her flying skills were so poor. If that was the case though, she didn't hold out much hope for the future. She wasn't exactly going to set aside her element someday. She was confusion. It was who she was now and forever.

"Well...I guess it's a good job we can take a tumble." She smiled.

The smile faded as she heard the roar and fear gripped her. Mother. It was mother come to get her! She watched in horror as Silos moved to put himself between her and the angry lioness. "N-no! Silos! Don't!" She reached out a paw as if to stop him. "Mother! Don't do it! We won't let you!"

And then the words caught in her mouth for as she turned and saw the black lioness running towards her she wondered; when had her mother ever had black fur? Could it be that this lioness was not even a goddess?

--

Nissa didn't seem to realise the magic was working on her form. She gathered herself, coiled her back legs beneath her and let them propel her up. She exploded from the grass, forepaws outstretched, hooked claws ready, fangs beared.

But suddenly the growl wasn't so angry.

Her claws weren't so sharp.

Her forelegs weren't long enough to reach him and...her jump was pathetic.

She landed on her stomach at his paws and glanced up at the God confused. Why did he look so big?! Had he...had he grown in size? Had...no, the Goddess looked massive too! Then...what had happened?

"What have you done to me!?" She shrieked, but her voice was different. What was going on here?

Ah, but it was too late, and he'd done the deed; Roko's voice didn't reach him untill after he'd cast the spell. He blinked at the now small cub that was staring up at them, and he lowered his head till his face was almost directly in front of hers, "Bet'cha that'll teach you to think twice before attacking him, huh?" a smirk came upon his maw as he lifted his head up again, "I shrunk you, kid," and he made note to call her such, "You're but a pathetic lil cub. Can't touch us, now can you?" in fact, had she tried to, it was probable Silos would have grabbed her from the scruff of her neck, or held her at arm's length, "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to attack others randomly? Specialy two gods that are merely out on a morning stroll. That's really rude yah know?"

That said he turned to look at Pelli, "You okay there? S'not your mother. It's..." he had no idea whom the female that now lay sprawled was, come to think about it, "Who are you anyhow, kid? Someone not really smart, that's for sure."

--

She blinked and pulled herself to her feet, moving to half hide herself behind Silos, glad that he was bigger than her.

Once she saw the pouncing, fierce lion was now nothing but a cub, however, she seemed to relax and drew forwards to get a better look. So this was Silos' power! It certainly was a useful ability to have. Far more useful than any other God power she had witnessed before.

"Uh huh. We thought it was..." But she trailed off. No point going back to that now. This cub certainly was not her mother, she knew that now.

--

Nissa was bristling and growling.

She picked herself up and backed off a little, casting a gaze between the pair cautiously. Wait. They were...friends? But hadn't he knocked her from the sky? Wasn't he going to tear out her throat just now? Dammit, did this mean she wasn't going to be able to save a Goddess and earn a blessing of some sort.

...not that any blessing by Roko would be of any use.

Nissa, in her moment of confusion, took a moment to answer Silos' question. Her gaze narrowed and she shot him an evil glare. "You don't play fair." She hissed. "Stupid God." Her tail lashed behind her but she knew it was useless.

She couldn't attack him like this!

"You...you were attacking her!! I saw you, so don't pretend otherwise."

--

"Ah, ah ah, I do play fair, babycheeks. As far as I recall, it was you that attacked me. I stopped you from making a very big mistake, aparently," he snorted at Nissa a brow arching, "Let me tell you a secret; I'm her friend. Not someone out for her blood. And you.... don't look like the best knight in shinning armour I've seen. Also, what's with the feathers?" actualy, the feathers were neat, and he rather liked thatm, "Kinna cool, don't you think, Roko? Though personaly, I think it'd look better if they were feathers from your wings."

Seating himself on the ground, he watched the now-young mortal before him. The effects of his spell would wear off at some point, but for now... he felt responsible enough to stay with her. After all, a cub could be in dire danger if left alone, even if one wasn't a cub in mind, "No, not your mother. Is your mother even black paleted?"

--

Rokopelli blinked and fluttered her wings a little in response. "Pretty." She could appreciate jewellery and shiny things as much as the next girl, she wore enough of it herself! And those pink feathers did look rather nice.

Maybe she'd look better with a feathery headdress instead of her black plaits?

She reached up and patted her hair almost as if considering, then shook her head, dismissive. She turned and glanced at her wings, their rainbow feathers stark against her desert-coloured fur.

Maybe they would look good in a headdress, but... "Nooo~ we need our feathers!" She couldn't imagine having scraggly wings! What if it made her flying abilities even worse?

And then Silos asked her about her mother and her ears drooped. "Um...no." What would he say if she told him she couldn't remember exactly what she looked like? She had tried to remember, but in her nightmares all she could see was a shadow with blazing eyes.

--

"I don't want your stinking feathers." Nissa huffed and looked up at him with what she hoped was an intimidating face. It wasn't. She certainly didn't look like the tough rebel lioness she'd fought to become.

"Hell...next time I see someone else in trouble I know what to do. I'll just turn away and ignore them, right?" She growled.

"Are you gonna turn me back to normal, or what?" She replied, getting to her paws and stomping a fore-paw in the beginnings of a tantrum. "I ain't gonna waste my strength on you now that I know she's your friend..."

She glanced at Roko. "Maybe you should go take her someplace she can't hurt herself."

--

As Roko's paw reached up to smooth out her hair, patting it, Silos couldn't help but smile slightly, "You look just fine, hon. And no one's gonna take your feathers; I was just saaaaaying~~" his tail reached up to tap the goddess under her chin, "Come on, come on. Chin up! Chin up! S'all good! I just proved to you thanks to our meddling lil mortal girl that all's good, right? My powers work on gods too," While this was true... it was usualy a question of whom was faster cursing on or using magic. But he wasn't about to say that much just yet; he wanted Roko happy, content.

Turning his head back towards Nissa, he snorted, "Oh, stop your emo, girl. Chin up, too. Ain't telling you to not do s**t. I'm telling you to make SURE you know what you're doing. And to not attack a damned god, while you're at it. Gods are a bit outta your league, don'tcha think? The first rule of heroism, is to be smart, and getting yerself killed is hardly smart. Yer lucky my spell'll wear off soon; tis only temporary, don't get your tail in a twist."

She did have a point; keeping Roko safe would be hard. They did stand out like a sorethumb... but no. He would not sacrifice their freedom just upon the inkling of a notion of being 'safe', "We're safe here. She'll be fine."

--

She purred, seemingly content with that. Her feathers were safe and she looked fine without the headdress. Problems solved with a few simple words. She chuckled as his tail tuft tickled her neck and shook her head to free herself of the funny sensation.

"We can trust Silos to keep us safe from fierce black cats and Mummy!" She chirped with a nod. "He's very strong, see? Very strong. No one could beat him, nah uh!" She did feel safer. At that moment she felt the safest she'd ever been. Even with Juuki she'd felt a little on edge, though she'd come to realise that he was probably stronger than he appeared to.

Juuku and Silos, both her friends, both strong despite their friendly personalities.

Could she be strong too one day? Could she protect others as they protected her? She hoped so, oh she hoped so with all of her heart.

She glanced at the 'cub' and smiled softly. "Thank you. Thank you for helping us." That cat had tried to protect her and she didn't even know her. Was the world filled with such creatures? And if so, how would her mother ever be able to hurt her with so many good hearts in the world?

Maybe revenge truly wasn't the right path to take.

Something shifted inside of her; her dormant personality gaining strength.

--

"Don't tell me what not to do." Nissa replied. "If I'd saved that Goddess she'd have owed me a favour, I'd have been the greatest lioness in all of the lands with a Goddess' blessing." She eyed Rokopelli again. "Though...I don't think she'd be much use in any case. She's mad."

The black cat stepped back, her cubbish face filled with irritation. "Then it'd better wear off damn fast. I can't let Cit see me like this. He'd have a fit!" She glanced over her shoulder as if making sure that he hadn't followed her out here. She didn't want to imagine what he'd do if he thought the Gods had hurt her.

Then her moment of heroism really would be thrown back in her face.

"Fine? Fine is one word for it. She's got a screw loose. I think you have too. Are all Gods mad? Seriously..." She trailed off, thinking back to the rumours of her ancestry. Did that mean she would be mad too? Ha, hardly. She didn't believe in those stories anyway!

She huffed then and sat. "I'm...Nissa, rebel queen of the rogue lands. I don't back down from nothing, got that? Lions, Hyenas or Gods. I don't have no fear of nothing."

--

"Of course she tried to help you; like I said, you look too damned cute not to help. Damned be whomever tries to hurt you, hon. Who the hell would?" he chuckled then, "M'not the strongest, but hopefuly strong enough. 'Sides, it's not always so much about strength as it is... witts, eh? I didn't have to fight the gal here to prove that."

Another snort from Silos, "Kid, don't think you'd want a blessing from confussion... but that aside, is that blessing worth getting killed for? Pride comes before a fall. and this comes from the god of Youth, whom is supossed to be an inmature brat; seems I have a tad more common sense than you which... isn't leaving you in a good place, s'it?" chuckling, he watched as the cub stepped back, "Eh, not mad. She's just confused. I do know someone that's insane. Want insanity? Call for the goddess of Irrationality," oh, he'd only seen Muhali briefly once, on one of his trips when he'd ventured into Kizingo'zaa... and honestly, the blue pelted goddess was as insane as they came. She'd amused him though; she'd trapped herself within the size of a cub all on her own, even despite being an adult... she was a cub at heart.

And then he laughed, "Hon, all gods are merely the embodiment of what they represent. You were.... I think a teen, right before I shrunk you. So you can say, that right now I am the god that represents you. Following your logic, you've got lose screws yerself, don'tcha?" the girl was amusing, to say the least, "Then you're stupid. But that's okay. Stupidity can be fun at times."

--

Rokopelli gave a little embarrased chirp and sat up on her haunches, curling her forepaws against her chest. It seemed being around him was opening up her eyes to a few things.

That it wasn't all about strength of one's own power to hurt.

That the greatest strength was friendship and love.

That the strength lies not in fear or anger.

Not want a blessing from her? She tipped her head and watched the cub's face, seeing an expression there that was often mirrored in her own, one of confusion. She smiled. Maybe she'd already blessed the girl without even realising.

She turned her eyes to look at Silos and listened to him. Someone could be offended by his words but coming from him, they were playful and done in jest. No one could take offense to him when he smiled like that!

--

And Nissa wasn't taking offence.

She was defeated, she knew that. She wasn't even sure what she was doing here. She should have run off the moment she realised that her attempt on an attack had been made useless. But here she was, sitting here, taking all these insults with nothing but an annoyed pout on her face.

She curled her tail and the scowl deepened.

"You represent me?" She arched a brow. "Then I'm in trouble aren't I? Good job I'll grow up. Maybe then I'll be represented by someone more trustworthy." She shook her little head. "Well...since this power of yours is going to wear off sooner or later, there's no point me hanging around ruining your little 'moment'." She curled a lip to show a tiny cub fang.

There as a Goddess of Madness too? Well...these two seemed pretty mad. She certainly didn't want to meet someone who was made of madness. She'd had had enough to last a lifetime!

"My friend'll be wondering where I've got to." And with a last glance she turned and dashed off.

Yes, I bloody well do, kid. Guess we have more in common that we both first thought, ain't we?" then again, he represent many souls; those that were young in spirit, and young in body, or both. It didn't really matter all that much. As the 'cub' turned to leave, the god watched her, "And won't they be in for a lil surprise, huh?" it was called after her before he turned back to Roko, "We should get goin' too. Just in case her friends decided they want to prank us back for that lil stunt," and that said, he reached out with his maw and poked the goddess' side swiftly, "Tag, you're it!"

Not a moment was wasted before he rushed off to the distance.
