Okay, it's not being remade, so everyone who was about to freak out... just calm... down... breathe.
Okay, so anyways, I was just wondering, who thinks that good ol' Shocky should be remade?
My view is that it should be. It's not that I think Shocky is bad, or that I'm tired of it, it's just I am so tired of people comparing it to Rocky Horror, and saying it's not as good as Rocky or that it's not comparable to it. I'm pretty much tired of not getting the respect it deserves. If it got remade and released to the public, not saying that it has any ties to Rocky Horror at all and said to be independent, it might be successful. Also, it actually does make more sense to release it now in the era of reality TV, than in the early 80's.
So what is everybody's opinions.

Shock treatment is always going to be the red headed step child. Do I want it to get respect? Sure, but if you re-made it, the original shock would be buried even further

But, if you think about it, it might boost the original as well. If you said that it was a remake, and people liked it, they may search out and see the original.
Like my friend, she never saw the original Halloween, but saw it in theaters and told me all about it. I told her about the original and was like " eek That was a remake?!" I showed her the entire series, and she loves the movies now, especially the original. So it may boost the original as well. confused

I agree will DrCosmo ^^
I mean the original wasnt bad. I loved it! But it does get tiring of always hearing people comparing it to Rocky.
I think that if they made a remake it would actually get people to look up the original. And make it more popular instead of buried.

Also, the way I think of remakes is that there will always be the original. The remake does not have to replace the original.

It would be interesting to see how it would be handled, or the cast. Truthfully, it would never be able to hold up to the magical weirdness of Shock Treatment. I am often tired of it getting compared to RHPS, as it is in its precious way, a b*****d child of Rocky Horror. Both films are equally fantastic and unique, and incredibly ahead of their time.
Rocky Horror Picture Show is a scandalous celebration of sex and B-Movies, while Shock Treatment is a visceral, zany satire on television and consumerism. They're completely different kinds of movies, tied only into the same genre of musical-comedy.
Though if it does get remade. I'm playing Cosmo. I don't trust anyone else with that role. Either that or I'll go RHPS with it, and star as Janet or Nation in my first ever gender-bending role. Haha.
