Waiting, waiting, waiting. Piptoll had shown up a tad too earlier for the blind date. She showed up a whopping three hours ahead. What was she thinking? A large miss calculations on how long it would take for her to walk from her temporary home, to the café. If only she knew that it was just a mere five minute walk. Why didn’t she just go home? Well she was nervous and at the same time excited. Maybe her date would too show up earlier too? Her hopes for that didn’t fall through. As time drew closer to the ‘official’ date time she asked herself mental questions about the girl.
Was she; tall, healthy, beautiful, smart, wary of her surroundings, strong, good genes, mute, heavy and her number one question of all open minded to new experiences? Drifting in thought Piptoll stood idle up against the wall. The spot she had arrived and stayed it all these long minutes. That stop that was right next to the door. She could have taken a seat and rested her legs but Piptoll couldn’t get comfortable at the a time like this. Besides any moment her date would step through the door. Piptoll didn’t want to miss her. Not that Piptoll was easy to over look, with her pink hair and all.

Lily always showed up early to her appointments or to work, but only by half an hour. She always took the time to pretend like she was showing up exactly on time, so any earlier than half an hour might make it appear as if she was loitering.
Today, however, was only a partial exception. The cafe was in a new area, and with new areas meant new shops, and with new shops meant the distant, vague dream of finding a cheap chocolate shop with divine little chocolates.
As such, Lily was a bit early. About five hours early, to be precise. Ignorant of her date's similarly early presence at the cafe, however, she didn't actually head over to the cafe that early. She spent her time wandering the shops in the area, flitting through the small antique stores and only by-passing an ice cream shop since it was a bit early in the morning for such desserts. Not that the time of day would really stop her if she was in the mood for a dessert.
She kept a dutiful eye on her wrist watch, the hands slowly inching their way across its face. The meeting time was at noon, and she still had an hour and a half left. Eyeballing a confectionary shop, Lily paused and stared at the delectible cakes inside. Well, if they were meeting at a cafe, what better to go with such drinks than a sweet cake? Swiftly ordering two slices - and hoping the lady she would meet up with actually liked cakes - Lily carried out the small box and continued on her way.
With one hour left, she was running out of things to do. She stopped outside the door to the cafe and pulled out the profile sheet for the 23rd time, her eyes soaking in as many words as possible. Lily gritted her teeth, hesitating. Why was she doing this again? She had no idea what she was supposed to do or how she was to act.
As she slid the profile back into the pocket of her brown jacket, however, Lily noticed a woman who looked suspiciously like the one described in the profile. White jacket, elegant knee length dress and low shoes, and a bright hair color that would be hard to miss. Quickly peeking at her watch again, Lily noted it was still an hour early. Had she gotten the time wrong? No, meeting at noon was too easy an hour to remember.
Quickly clearing her throat, Lily casually sidled up to her, wondering whether it would be more polite to make eye contact or to avoid staring. "H-Hello," She greeted cheerfully, trying to shake the nervousness out of herself and hoping she didn't get the wrong person, "Are you Piptoll, by chance?"

Piptoll rocked back and fourth balancing on her heels then dropping back down. How much longer was she going to have to wait? Digging through one of her pockets she pulled out a small square pocket watch. Oddly shaped and valued to her. So, there was precisely three thousand one hundred and twenty seconds left till their meeting. Just a little under an hour. Noticing some one enter she looked them over. Was that her? Piptoll came unprepared, she forgot the profile. Not that it said much about what she looked like anyways.
Placing her hands on top of her head she smoothed her hands down her hair. "Hmm?" Pocketing her hands she looked up at the woman a smile crawling a cross her face. Was this her date? Had to be. "Yes. You are Lily." She replied letting the woman know she remembered her name. Whatever else was on her profile though, Piptoll had forgot.
Eying the packet Lily was holding Piptoll wondered what was hiding under the packaging. A chemistry set? She already had a ton of those. She wouldn't mind a new set of rubber gloves. When she was kicked out she through them all out. Along with her spare Bunsen burner, telescope and all her towels. She had to condense down so she could fit everything in the storage slot she was renting.

Pleased to have found the right person (while conveniently forgetting both were meeting an hour ahead of time), Lily gave a nervous smile as she waved her hand towards a table by the window. If they fell into an awkward silence, she would at least be able to watch people out the window with a good cup of tea.
Noting that her date was eyeing the box, Lily beamed brightly and set it on the table, puffing with pride at her great find. Delicately opening it to reveal two slices of chocolate cake with graceful icing and a light criss-cross pattern of chocolate syrup, Lily looked back at the woman, her eyes dancing with anticipation, "I hope you like cakes?"
The thought that others may not like chocolate or might have been dieting or allergic simply never occured to her.

Piptoll nodded walking up to the table by the window. Taking a seat she watched curiously as Lily revealed the package innards. Her face lit up with suspense but when the cake was revealed her lip formed into a frown. Cake? Gross. "Oh." She didn't sound very interested at all. Crossing her arms she leaned back in her chair. She wasn't going to eat that. "Does it have fish in it?" Likely not but Piptoll was hopeful.
"I only eat sea food. . ." She added to make it clear that if that cake didn't have sea food in it, she wouldn't eat it. No offense of course. She just didn't eat anything that didn't come from the sea. It was a nice gesture and as Piptoll wished she could eat it it would probably only make her sick. Crossing her legs she unfolded her arms to smooth down her hair again. "What do you like to drink?" She hadn't brought a gift herself, it didn't cross her mind at all. Were you suppose to bring gifts on a date? She would buy drinks and hopefully everything would be even.

Only sea food? Lily stared at her, desperately trying to scramble over the culture shock. Didn't like cake? Chocolate cake? Blasphemy!
Still befuddled over this discovery, Lily blinked a few times, "Drink? Oh, uh.. t-tea should be fine." Feeling overly subconscious now, she numbly closed the box and set it to the side within hand's reach.
Trying to make up for lost ground, Lily cleared her throat and gave a weak smile, "Sea food isn't bad. I rather like shrimp when its sauted with a nice slice of-" She was about to say 'steak', but considering the cold reaction to her cake, Lily highly doubted it would get a warm reception, "Slice of.. fish."

Placing her hands on the table top flat she giggled with a large grin. Lily liked sea food too? "Mm fish is good huh? I really like tropical fish. Sadly they are hard to purchase around here. . .for some reason." Maybe because most of the fish she liked were not suppose to be eaten. " Speaking of fish I need to stop by a pet store sometime." She wasn't going in intentions of getting a pet for the record. Sliding off her chair she backed up towards the cafe's counter to make some drink orders. "I'll get you a tea." Smiles hands held behind her back. "Cream, sugar?" She rather hated the extra stuff people put in there drinks but she wasn't going to be impolite and not ask.
Maybe since Lily liked sea food they could go for fish and chips. Piptoll knew of a great place where it was all you can eat. She never ate the fries, she only went for the fish, of course.

Vowing not to admit that she wasn't all that fond of fish except for shrimp and canned tuna, Lily could only nod and smile. "Wait, tropical fish?" She paused in thought, "You can eat those?"
She was always under the impression that they were just for fish tanks. But hey, that didn't mean they weren't fish. Perhaps they were edible afterall. "Oh, thank you. Both, please." Lily couldn't fathom a tea without the extra sugars.
Feeling rather like a fish out of water herself, she watched Piptoll head up to the counter and tried to think of something to talk about. Pet stores? More fish? There really wasn't all that much to talk about on fish, was there? Flustered, she shook her head and ran a hand through her hair. Perhaps a nice walk to see what sort of shops there were? Or maybe her date would have an idea? Lily stared nervously at her hands, still not knowing what she was supposed to do.

After ordering she returned with two cups. One for Lily and one for herself. Setting Lily's tea down in front of her she seated herself. Piptoll wasn't quite sure how many sugars Lily wanted, so she got five with her medium sized tea. Why five? Because that was one of Piptoll's favorite numbers. Taking a careful sip of her own tea she stared at Lily analyzing her. Was she as nervous as her?
"Your welcome. I hope there is enough sugar. I can get you more if you want. . ." Leaning over the table slightly she tilted her head to the side not really wanting to talk about the taste of Lily's tea. "What do you do for a living? That wasn't quite what she was wanted to talk about either.

"Thank you." Lily reached out and gingerly grasped the tea cup, enjoying the aroma as she stirred in the sugars, "This much is quite good, thanks."
She took a few sips, testing the temperature, before taking a slower drink of it, "I actually work up on the isle as a secretary or book keeper of sorts for a large firm. Nothing really interesting there." Giving a light shrug, she took another sip, "What about yourself? Job? Hobbies?"
Generalized questions were a good start, right? Was it supposed to feel this awkward? Lily supposed it was, considering it was a date and all. She lowered her eyes, staring at the murky reflection in the tea.

Piptoll sat up right listening. Lily was a secretary? That was pretty cool, better then working at one of those icky fast food places. Piptoll always felt so sick when she passed those restaurants. What were they cooking their food in? Grease? Piptoll hit that question right on. Taking a drink of her tea she thought about her own reply. "I dispose nuclear waste up at the Aerea plant." She didn't really like her job and it showed through her tone. If she could she would rather be a rocket scientist, or something that required a lot of smarts. Schooling down on Earth was different. If she ever wanted to be as 'smart' as she really was she would have to go through school all over again. It was ridiculous.

Lily arched a brow, pausing mid-sip, "Nuclear waste? That.. can't be healthy." Unsure of what to approach next, Lily shuffled nervously in her chair, "Did you want to go anywhere..?"
Perhaps if they went out somewhere, she might discover something of common grounds. At this point, Lily was floundering for something to grasp. She simply didn't know how to date, thinking it was foolish for her to have tried in the first place. Briefly thinking back, however, Lily wasn't sure that staying up all night watching cliche romance movies in a dark room wasn't all that healthy. Steeling herself, Lily determined to at least survive one date.

Nuclear waste was not unhealthy! Least not for Piptoll. Sure the fragile bodies of humans it can cause problems but for her, it had no effected. Grinning at the suggestion of going somewhere Piptoll placed both hands flat on the tables surface sitting up strait. "Sure! Where would you like to go?" She could make suggestions. The park for a walk? Shop browsing at a mall, girls liked shopping right? Maybe got for something to eat. Piptoll was rather hungry.
"How about the zoo?" That quite a wild place to mention. "Or how about just go for something to eat? She could continue with suggestions but decided to let Lily think a little. Maybe lily already had a place in mind?

"The zoo sounds fun." Lily beamed, relief washing over her, "They have these great elephant ears there with lots of sugar and cinnamon."
As she grabbed her jacket from the back of the chair, she paused, "Oh, er, they also have fish in one of the restaurants. Might even come on a stick so we can walk and eat at the same time. Shall we take the bus?"
Lily lived close enough to most things that she never bothered with a vehicle. It was expensive to maintain, and the money was better put elsewhere, such as buying chocolate and adding to a savings account. Despite her wild chocolate endeavors, she was actually a bit of a penny pincher.

[ I'm sorry I'm such a slow replier. . .just rarely at home to make posts cause I'm always had Dragonfly's house ]
Really? Lily liked the idea of the zoo? Piptoll sat up right clapping her hands together once then holding them them like in prayer. "Great!" Elephant ears? Real ones? Now that was strange. . .tilting her head to side in slight disgust she rushed it off. If Lily wanted to eat elephant ears Piptoll wasn't going to stop her. She was glad to hear they would have fish, fish on a stick even! Piptoll was excited about the aquarium. She hoped they wouldn't recognize her, because she had been kicked out before.
Hopping up she swiftly scooped up her cup. "Lets go then. To this. . .bus." What was a bus? She had never taken one. Walking was her way around. She didn't care for those tin cans. She saw how easy they crumpled up on impact. Sticking a hand in her pocket she started digging for change. For the bus? "It costs 12.58 per ticket at the zoo. Do you have two pennies?" She was getting her money ready like they were already at the zoo. "Cause then I can pay for us both in exact change!" She gleamed with a grin.
