White paws trotted silently across the grasses as golden eyes surveyed the area around her. A frown was etched upon her maw as she furrowed her brow shaking her head. She couldn’t find it, whatever it was that she was searching for. The canine wasn’t sure of what exactly she was searching for all she knew was that she hadn’t found it. Heaving a sigh Shupaza stopped walking and tilted her head back closing her eyes. Never before had she been so thankful of the night, it’s dark embrace was just so soothing.

“I wonder…” She whispered to herself in her silky tone as she slowly opened her eyes a yawn rolling off her tongue. “What am I looking for?” It was a plausible question. Why did she find herself up every night searching, looking for something she obviously couldn’t find? It had to be something living, whatever it was; otherwise she would have found it. Wouldn’t she? She couldn’t be sure until she found it.

It had just happened one night while she was wandering as a result of her insomnia. As she was walking she was suddenly hit with the sudden urge to go out and find it. She didn’t know what ‘it’ was but she knew that it was important. It felt as though another part of her had been located, somehow, and it was up to her to find it. She only hoped that it would be worth the search.

She was searching for one half of her destiny.

Jachai sighed heavily as he sank down to his belly resting his head on his paws as he looked to the sky. Why was this so hard? Why did his thoughts always revolve around her? Never did a minute pass that he wasn’t thinking of the pale lioness. He knew that he shouldn’t feel the way he did about her but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t care that they were two separate species all together, it didn’t matter. It didn’t change the fact that he loved her. He always would, he was absolutely sure of it.

Still there was a problem, one that wouldn’t go away very easily. He had competition, competition that would be hard to beat. He could see the love and adoration in Bella’s eyes every time she looked at the leopard Jachai had deemed his rival. Even so he could also see the love in her eyes for him, the passion wasn’t as strong but he could still feel it. One day it would be just as strong, if not stronger. He knew it would.

Until then all Jachai could do for his lady-love was wait and be there for her. He could be patient. It would be hard but he would do it, all for her. Hell he’d do anything for the lioness he had come to adore, to love. “Bella…” He murmured to himself as he cast his gaze to the ground just before hearing another voice. Furrowing his brows he looked up to see a white female wild dog.

His breath caught in his throat and he felt his heart skip a beat. What was this feeling?

“Hello?” He whispered breathlessly.

Shupaza whipped her head back when she heard a voice call to her; at least she assumed it was to her. Her golden eyes settled upon the russet brown male and felt her breath catch in her throat. Who was he? She could feel her heart rate sky rocket, something that never happened, even when she had been running for a long time. “Who are you?” She whispered without a second thought. She couldn’t help herself the words just slipped from her lips and floated over to the male.

She had found it, the thing…no person she had been searching for. Or rather he had found her even though she had been the one looking. “D-do I know you?” She questioned with a slight stammer at the beginning. It was odd the feeling that she had. She knew that it wasn’t an unpleasant one but she still couldn’t be sure if it was enjoyable. She didn’t like feeling her heart hammer away in her chest. She wasn’t used to it and she wasn’t sure she wanted to be.

“Do you feel your heart hammering away at your chest?” She asked him tearing her gaze away as she shook her head. Why was she asking these questions? What if she was the only one with the feeling that she had in her chest? Would it make her look foolish? Probably but she couldn’t stop her string of questions. Not until he answered at least.

His brows knitted together at her question. Who was he? Shouldn’t he be the one asking that question? Then her next question fell upon his ears. It was a question that he had wanted to ask himself. After all it felt as though he knew her, as though had always known her. Then she threw another question his way and he couldn’t help but chuckle heartily. “Are you trying to hit on me?” He asked her jokingly unable to deny the opportunity she had given him. “Because if that’s the case then I’m all for it.” What was he saying? He loved Bella!

He loved the tan colored lioness…didn’t he? Yes. He could feel it. The passion he held for the female was still as strong as ever yet, he couldn’t ignore the feelings that the stranger was making him feel. It didn’t make sense to the canine. How could some stranger pull out such strong feelings of…love? Maybe this was what his father had been talking about. All that imprinting and crap.

Not once had he ever given the idea a second thought and now…well it there was this feeling he just couldn’t ignore which made him finally believe. “Who are you?” He whispered breathlessly unable to make his brain process anything.

Shupaza was immediately flustered when he asked her if she was hitting on him. Of course she wasn’t! Was she? Not intentionally by any means. Shaking her head she couldn’t help but feel the attraction between them. A natural chemistry. It felt so right, to speak to him as though she knew him, maybe she did, but at the same time it felt so wrong. It wasn’t right, something wasn’t right between them yet it didn’t stop her from pushing forward. “My name is…Spade.” She whispered not actually giving him her real name but the name she much so preferred. One she often didn’t tell others.

But it felt so right to just tell him. “Do I know you?” The female had asked the question before but she still had to ask again. “Because, as cliché as this might sound, I feel like I do.” She mumbled almost embarrassed by the fact she was speaking to a complete stranger. “Don’t you –dare- say that I am hitting on you because I’m not She told him leaning forward and sticking her tongue out at him. Childish? Yes. Did she care? No.

Joyful laughter erupted from the male’s maw as he tossed his head back as a goofy wolfish grin spread across his maw as he hung his tongue out the side and tilted his head at her. “Spade? Can I call you Spades?” He asked partially joking while being all too serious at the same time. “Regardless of what you say I’m going to call you that.” He declared with a firm nod knowing that in a way he was trying to win her over, even if he wouldn’t verbally admit it.

“Now, now if you want to play that way at least play fairly.” He scolded with a shake of his head before sticking his own tongue out at her. “Is it bad that I’m so good looking that you can’t help but flirt with me?” He asked jokingly…well mostly. Jachai was a very cocky male. “Name’s Jachai by the way.”

“Hey!” She cried out wrinkling her nose as a pout formed upon her maw. “I guess that you can.” She mumbled slightly disgruntled but she didn’t think she would be able to actually say no to him. Not that it really mattered to her or him for that matter. “You don’t need to be so cocky. You aren’t that good looking.” As soon as those words escaped her lips she cursed inwardly. She hadn’t meant to compliment him! Well it was too late now.

“Well Jachai, I do believe that we are at a standstill. I know that you feel an attraction between us because you haven’t yet tried to sleep with me and you haven’t left so…” She trailed off after pointing out the obvious, which he might not have understood if she hadn’t. “Where do we go from here?”

Good question.

Jachai arched a brow as he regarded her carefully. “So you admit that I am good looking.” He told her his goofy grin spreading across his maw again as he moved toward her. “You're quite the looker yourself Spades.” He told her waggling his brows a bit, almost suggestively but not quite. The she quickly changed subjects and he arched a brow wondering why she had to go and ruin all the fun.

“What would you do if I said I do?” He asked her suppressing the grin that threatened to break free and spread. “Well…you see there’s this girl I love so even if there is an attraction between us nothing come of it right?” Wrong and he knew it but he was going to hold true to his ‘one true love’ as long as damn possible. “How about we actually get to know each other before we decide anything?” He offered trying to sound bored but he failed.

He didn’t understand it. He obviously felt something for the girl but he knew he hadn’t imprinted on her, if he did the feelings he felt would overpower the feelings he had for Bella and they were as strong as ever, if not even stronger now that there was a rival involved.

She stood there suppressing the urge to smile when he made joke of her words and shot a compliment right back at her. She had to admit that it was definitely something that she enjoyed, speaking with his male. He was interesting to say the very least. Then her face fell when he mentioned loving someone, of course! That was why everything just felt so wrong! But then why did it feel so right?

“I think that is a good way to start things off.” She agreed nodding as she walked towards him pressing her side against him lightly before quickly moving away. “Start from square one and work our way up.” She mumbled standing directly across from the russet brown male as she stared him in the eye.

This would be interesting.
