Taren sat at the entrance of small tunnel that buried down into the earth, his back was against the small mound of earth. The boy was nearing eight years of age but with a round innocent face and short stature he could be taken for a younger child. The only thing that could be considered even vaguely intimidating where his large clawed hands, but at the moment they were occupied. One was held up in front of him, a claw extended and on it a large green shield bug. He thought it rather neat the way it looked like a moving leave and in his usual quite yet inquisitive manner he had been watching it for some time. He lifted up a second claw to the first and it obediently climbed on. Moving over the boys hand and keeping him entertained while he rested from his digging and sipped at his juice box which was held in his other claw.

His mother, or rather adoptive mother was of course not far away. Although he had got much better with his tunnelling she still held fears that he would let it collapse on himself and hurt him so she felt better being close by, especially after his illness which he seemed to have completely recovered from but which had left her feeling shaken and more protective of him. Still that didn’t mean she could afford not to work as worry had been causing her to neglect it she now had the laptop out, her fingers clattering across the keys as she altered her gaze between the screen and Taren. The cigarette between her lips helping her distress with sweet sweet nicotine.

The park! Theparktheparkthepark! Anataela was beyond gleeful to be back at what she had quickly decided was her favorite place ever. Sure, Vienne despised bringing her here. But Vienne always just sat on the bench and went over paperwork or something, leaving Ana to her own devices. Just the way the little girl liked it.

She stood at the edge of the playground, smoothing her vivid green hands over her pale pink dress. She especially liked the way the petticoats underneath made the skirt bounce. Giving a little skip to make them bounce even more, she noticed an unusual looking boy over by the tunnels. He seemed terribly engrossed in something and Ana found herself curious as to what that might be. So she skipped on over, peering over the boy's shoulder silently at the bug he was playing with.

Taren was just finishing the last of his juice when the girl appeared, his ears twitched as she drew close and he turned to meet her eyes at the moment she peeled over his shoulder, he threw up his hands and skittered back alarmed. Causing the bug to fly off into the bushes somewhere. Not that it matter much anymore but the boy felt a brief disappointment at this. By comparison to the well groomed little girl he was the picture of outdoor grime danger. He had dirt in his hair and his clothes, grass stains and even a small tear on his shirt which he fashioned along with shorts, bare feet and bangs that feel in front of his eyes from a short slightly spiky pony tail. And of course large bottle end glasses.

"y..you surprised me." he pointed out shyly, avoiding eye contact as he seemed to sink back into the safety of the warm earth his body have submerged in the tunnel as he watched her. Aware enough now to know she was probably another girl from D-corp, about his own age. And she wasn't exactly very threatening either which is why he hadn't completely disappeared behind his guardians legs or all the way down his earthy cavern. It was at this point he seemed to remember the manners his adoptive parent had drilled him on and managed to utter a "hello.

Ana was suprised at the boy's suprise, and her skin flashed very briefly a vivid orange color then just as quickly returned to it's natural green color. She smiled sheepishly at him. "I'm sorry I scared you..." She said, not stepping forward because she didn't want to frighten him again. "I'm Ana."

The Bright colour only seemed to startle Taren further as he shrank back again in fear and put one claw up to cover both eyes, the bright colour hurt the sensitive optics a little, thats why he had come out today, when it was warm yet overcast and no blinding rays could reach him through the thick cloud cover. The trees already turning golden and orange it was a perfect autumn day. Oh but she had said her name, that meant he had to return the introduction with his own. “I’m Taren.” He told her. “How do you do that? Change colours like that?” he asked, because through his shyness he was a little curious. He pulled a little at the hem of his shirt, which despite it’s scruffy state was extremely soft calmed him to feel it under his fingers.

Ana knelt down by the boy, smiling at him. She didn't mind if her dress got a little dirty 'cause she had a bunch more at home, even if Vienne would complain about ladies not getting themseves muddy. "I have chameleon DNA." Ana explained before offering up her favorite show-off technique. "I could turn colors to match you, if you wanted." She couldn't supress a tiny grin of pride at the offer.

Taren blinked at her again and since she knelt he settled more against the wall of earth. Trying to imitate her relaxed posture as much as possible. She was no threat. Not really, but better to stay in his tunnel just in case. He squinted his eyes again at the show of colour. “Chamleeein?” He repeated tilting his head to the side slightly. Obviously oblivious to just what exactly that was. And he still didn’t know why she changed colour either but maybe it was just better to accept that she did and leave it at that. As she offered to take his colours Taren’s brown drew down in a frown. “don’t copy my colours that’s cheating.” He explained seriously to her. He didn’t really want her looking like him anyway, that would be a bit weird. Even if he was a nicer colour than bright orange.

Ana blinked. She was used to people being excited about her color-changing, which made her feel validated. She wasn't sure what to do with this boy who thought she was cheating. Usually such a little people-pleaser, Ana felt herself bristling at the percieved insult. "Is not cheating!" She said, frowning a little.

Taren squeaked and ducked his head down away from her at the raised tone like it was a physical blow. But slowly his gaze raised a little again, because she was wrong and he had to make her understand. “But..but it is.” He insisted “Teacher said, that if you copy it’s cheating, you have to do it in your own way.” He reached up and tapped one long claw against his skull. “use your head,” he added.

Ana frowned harder. Maybe he just didn't understand. Maybe he wasn't as smart as she was. Ladies were supposed to be patient and whatnot, and while she wasn't feeling very patient at the moment, she knew she was supposed to try to solve things with words. "Changing colors isn't copying! You couldn't do it even if you tried really hard. I can do it 'cause I'm special."

Taren closed his eyes and put his hands over his ears. Now she was raising her voice. He shook his head vigorously to show his displeasure, his body tense and trembling slightly, and now she was right infront of the entrance of his tunnel and he couldn’t get out, only go back in a dug out that wasn’t all that big yet. But this girl was bad, now she was lying as well. “But you said, you said you were going to copy my colours.” He pointed out. That was copying surley, she even said it was therefore it was cheating.

"I said match, not copy! It's different!" She could tell that her shouting was distressing him, and she didn't like to make anybody feel bad. She just didn't get why this kid couldn't understand. She was special! She got to her feet and put her hands on her hips, frowning harder than ever. Worse than that, though, was that her frustration was making her skin do funny things that she didn't mean for them to do, flashing bright random colors and patterns, the chameleon DNA attempting to make her more intimidating.

The intimidation was most defiantly working on the mole boy as he backed up further away from the girl that had looked almost pretty to him at first with her pale hair and fancy dress, but now she was just being mean and it blocked all pleasant thoughts Taren might have thought about her. And those bright colours hurt his eyes. But that didn’t change the fact that he knew she was wrong, he didn’t want anyone to steal his colors, copy the velvet black of his fur or purplish hair. They were his after all.
Backing further into the tunnel away from her he shook his head his body trembling worse than ever. “Stop it! Stop it.” He told her before desperately and quite suddenly reach up and with his claws ripping down the soft earth, causing a small cave in, just in that select area though building up a wall between them which he shifted and patted into place to make it more solid. Crouching in his small hollow he listened intently because when she was gone he would simply dig himself out.

Ana had been opening her mouth to let loose another tirade on the boy in regards to just how wrong and possibly stupid he was when he just... dissapeared behind a wall of dirt. Taken aback, the wind gone out of her sails, she just stared. Had he been buried? Was he dead under there? Ana poked at the dirt. "Are you alive?" She asked, now slightly concerned. Then again... maybe he deserved it.

Taren was of course fine, sitting bac in the small bubble of earth that he had created he felt safe again and after a few deep breaths was able relax putting on claw lightly against the solid packed eart he felt he could draw strngth from it whats more, he could feel the small vibrations of the girls movements on the other side.
His ears twitched at the voice and for a minute he was silent, he should just tunnel out the other side and run away but she did sound like she might be really worried about him. He didn't understand why though she was mean, neverthe less he found the words tumbling past his lips a little stronger in tone and more confident now. "I'm okay, I just put a wall there, you were hurting my eyes." he expplained and turned already to start scraping away and create another exit.
