I'll start at the start.

Aden was really bow-legged when he was born. He wasn't born breech or anything, he was just squished in there for a long time! At his 3 month check up, the doctor suggested we get it checked out. I wasn't worried about it because his legs had straightened out a lot since birth. So we left it alone. At his 6 month check up a couple weeks ago, the doctor brought it up again. I told her I was a little concerned because Aden had started pulling himself into a standing position using the coffee table or whatever, and whenever he stood up, he'd roll his ankles and stand on the top of his feet first. His legs have still gotten much straighter, but now that he stands up I guess I am a little more concerned. She made us an appointment to see a pediatrician next month.

I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar experience. If so, what did the doctor do (if anything) to fix the problem?

My daughter's still a little bow-legged at over a year and a half. It gets better every day. Her dad asked the doctor about it, and ours said that they don't typically worry about it until after 2 or so, just because their bodies are changing so much.

I wasn't worried about it because they have gotten much better since he was born. But since the doctor brought it up... I dunno. We have an appointment with a pediatrician later this week, but I'm kind of thinking he'll say it's totally okay. He doesn't seem to be rolling his ankles anymore, since he's been standing up a lot lately. It seems to be fixing itself.

Been so long since I was on Gaia.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If he wasn't seeing a pedi from the start, then thats why your doc is referring you.
Any non-pedi will not know 100% about baby issues. My husband was worried and our pedi just calls it a package defect. She is 15 months and they are a lot straighter now. She hasn't yet figured out running but walks perfectly fine.

Like you said, its gotten better over time. It will continue to get better. Seeing a pedi will help ease your mind.

Sure enough, the pediatrician said it's all good. Nothing to be worried about.

Thanks for the help!

If they were really concerned, they'd probably just recommend a brace to wear at night that straightens the legs out. I had a friend who wore one as a child. It like clipped on the ankles and forced the feet to be straight, so as they grew, they grew straight. But it's one of those things that's best to do when they're young. After a certain age, I don't think it's effective.
