Caleb glanced around as the car came to a stop in a gravel parking lot. "This isn't a park!" The boy scowled at his guardian, who chuckled. "Where's the toys? The slides? Swings?!"
Kaden reached over and ruffled the boy's hair. "This is a different sort of park. There's a trail over there and it goes up to that little mountain there." He pointed through the windshield at the small peak. It couldn't really be considered a mountain, more of a large hill, but it stood taller than the surrounding area. "C'mon, let's go hiking." The man grabbed a backpack from the back of the car before guiding the boy to the path.
Though a bit disappointed with this type of park, Caleb was soon scurrying along the path, grinning from ear to ear as he glanced about at the trees around him.

Rissa pulled her little silver car into the parking lot, amidst a barrage of complaints from the kid in the back seat.
"Hey! You said we were going to the zoo today? I don't see a monkey here, do you?" Aria was grumbling, her arms crossed and wings tucked tight to her.
"Well, it's a zoo in a way. We're going on a hike, and also for a playdate."
"A playdate? With who?"
"Riordan and his son, Caleb. Now, I expect you to be nice. Please please please don't go flying off into the wilderness, either." That aroused a surly frown from Aria. "Aw, c'mon. You nearly flew the coop last time."
"That's not funny." Aria responded, a small smile on her face.
"Well, c'mon, let's go!" Rissa opened her door and traveled around to the trunk, where she pulled out a stuffed backpack.

"C'mon, Daddy! Let's go!" Caleb was pacing at the beginning of the trail, not understanding why his parent was delaying. He tugged on Kaden's sleeve. "Daaddd. C'mon!"
Kaden chuckled and reached down to ruffle Caleb's hair. "Relax, we're waiting."
That made Caleb stop for a moment to look up at his guardian. "Huh? Why?"
"Someone's meeting us here. Another kid from Faction S. A girl."
"A girl?" Caleb scowled and sighed. For the most part, he'd only met boys and he'd been hoping for a moment that Lucius and Uri were coming. But his reaction only made his guardian chuckle. "Car!" Caleb perked up as he heard the car arrive.
The pair watched the other two get out, Kaden waving as they headed towards the boys.

Rissa waved back as she caught sight of Riordan. "Hey! Brought some lunch along. I swear it won't kill you." Rissa called with a laugh. Aria walked along beside her guardian, holding the camera Rissa had entrusted her with.
"This might actually be fun, eh, Ari?" Rissa asked with a wink. Aria smiled in response and snapped a picture of Rissa, which caused the guardian to jerk back slightly. "Well, somebody's a real quick shooter, now aren't we?" Rissa picked up Aria and set her on top on the pack, where she latched on comfortably.
"Good thing I work out a lot and you're light!"
"Aw, mom, it's not that bad. At least we didn't bring the big pack like you wanted!"

Kaden chuckled. "Sounds good to me. We can make a nice picnic on up the trail." He glanced at his charge, who was interested in the thing that Aria was holding. Caleb gave a bit of a start when the girl took a picture and the little box flashed a light and made noises.
"Coooool! What's that?!" Caleb grinned, glancing up as the girl got a ride and glanced back at his parent, whose gaze said no before the boy even asked. "Riding like that means you can't run..." The boy commented, his attention back on the girl.
