Ahh. The cool evening had finally descended upon the plains of Africa. With a rolling sigh Bombei rose to his feet, stretching the stiffness from his muscles and waggling his toes in anticipation. His goal, supposedly, was not too far now, and though he'd decided to bunker down for the night he could not bring him to waste these perfect travel conditions.
Feeling a little hungry, he decided to travel with the intents of stopping at the first sign of a meal. It had been days since that antelope he'd traded stories for. Mmm. He'd likely not get the same divine meat tonight, but maybe an elderly zebra or a wounded wildebeest...
Unfortunately tonight his luck had run a little south, and after a while he'd still found nothing. With a sigh and a complaint from his gut he let himself plop down, flopping over into the grass. His stomach roared again, and he shushed it with a thump of his paw. "Now now, that's not the polite way to ask for food."

Narhari had killed a little more then he could eat this time. Having snagged a sick adolescent zebra. He'd never hurt a healthy one unless he couldn't find a sick one and needed to eat. He wasn't much one for hurting and killing creatures. He was a lover, not a fighter. Well, not really much a lover either. at least to a sense to where he was sleeping with every female. He loved the land, and all the creatures in it, more or less.
He dragged the zebra with him as much as he could. Looking quite odd with the dead creature in between his legs as he walked. It made him look as if he was waddling. His once white muzzle, was stained with bits of red. Though, it'd come off in a few days, for now, he could live with that.
He didn't realize he was about to walk into another male. He couldn't really see while carrying such a heavy, and semi-large creature. He was use to just leaving it there and eating, but today, he felt he couldn't eat with the eyes of zebra's watching him eat. It made him nervous, and sad. His dull light purple eyes were shut, cause he couldn't see anyways, why bother trying?

Bombei shifted a bit, smelling the blood coming his way. It smelled tasty, and..hey! Really close! He rolled to sitting just in time to see the place his head had just been laying get trampled by paws and...zebra? Oh food! Of course, it wasn't his food. And it'd nearly run him over.
"Close call that." He chuckled, watching the more successful male trot by. The sight of the food had renewed his spirits. There must be some nearby, the purpley male couldn't have been dragging the carcass too far. Of course, a kill would be harder, now that the herd had been alarmed, but a hard kill was better than no kill. "Mind pointing me in the direction you got that tender fellow from?" Of course he could just follow the blood trail back, but he wanted to be sure. If the zebra had been running in one direction or another when the male left them, Bombei would rather know.
"I'm Bombei by the by." He added after a moment. No need to be rude and run off. He chuckled a bit, seeing a sort of half-pun in his head about eating and running, but backwards, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to be thought a fool right out.

With the sound of another, he dropped the zebra and opened his eyes. "What now? Oh, I didn't hit you did I?" He asked slightly alarmed in hurting the other male. He didn't think he could take care of another if they were badly injured. He'd panic. Or at least, he thought he would. He'd never been in any situation that would brought him to having to do that. "Oh... Back more that way, but I can't finish all of this. Plus this was the only sick one." He said honestly.
"Best share this one, that I can't finish then let it go to waste, and have another of it's kind get killed for no reason." He stated. He didn't know why he cared so much for the world around. It just seemed right. If no one did, then everything would die. If only one did, then at least he could try to make a difference in the world to keep it balanced enough to keep everything living.
"Nice to meet you, Bombei. I'm Narhari." He said with a smile. "If I had friends, I'd assume they'd call me Hari, or Nar. Or something similar." He tried to say. But failed at coming up with a nickname for himself. Which wasn't really surprising. He liked his name, and never would cut it in half for any reason. If someone else wanted to, that was a different thing then. He'd go by it, only so the other wouldn't feel bad.

Bombei laughed heartily and shook himself, showing he was unharmed. "I'm quite alright, no worries." He nodded glumly at hearing that there were no more to be picked off. Well that was his luck, but no matter, he'd just--Oh. Share? That was the second time in as many weeks that he'd been invited to share a meal. A quick prayer of thanks went up to whatever gods happened to be in audience at the moment, and he nodded agreeably to his new acquaintance.
"Narhari. It has a nice ring to it. If you don't mind though, I think I'll keep it whole, and not shortened. And I would be delighted to join you in eating, though I must admit to feeling rather the fool. It seems of late I've only been eating by the pity of others. Thankfully I've had a run of good friends to come upon as well." He really must be sure to one day make rounds and thank those kindly folk again.
He stood and nodded for Narhari to lead on. If the other had a destination in mind he wasn't about to stop him from getting there.

"I can't really say it's pity on anyone." he told the other. "I just would rather not see another innocent creature be killed over something that could easily be fixed with the one here that's already killed." To him it made sense, he wasn't one to pity anyone. Things happen for a reason, pity shouldn't come into the picture at all. Even creatures such as this one he had killed, no pity was there. It was sick, to keep him and Bombei alive.
"Take it as honor, not pity, for it's a great pleasure to eat with a stranger happy enough to share a meal." He added. "Not many are so willing to enjoy another's company. Though, there are those who have their reasons." For him, he had no reasons, or excuses not to share a meal that could easily feed three or four lions. But seeing how there were only two, at least they could eat as much as they could and leave the rest to the other creatures around.
He picked up the lifeless body and moved more into the tall grass. That way they could at least eat in peace without Hyena's or wild dogs to bug them. Or at least they wouldn't be able to find them faster. Dropping it again after only a few steps, he smiled. "Here is good." He announced and sat down. Looking the dead creature over. He didn't know where to start, it was best to let the other go first and then eat after. He did invite the other, after all. It was only right that his guest eat first.

Bombei couldn't help but agree with the purply lion. And he'd been offered a free meal, he'd have no right to complain. He followed after the other male a ways into the tall grass-a fine hiding place. He nodded his assent with Narhari and settled across the beast from his new companion. He noted the hesitation in the other, and though he was prepared to debate who got first bite, his rumbling gut forced him to go ahead. With a shrug he got to work, tearing at the flank of the beast to get at the tasty meat.
"So, what brings you out tonight? Other than hunting, I mean." Bombei asked after a while, pausing to lick his reddened lips. With the edge of his hunger gone he gave in to the trend of dinner conversation and waited patiently for the other to join in. "I'd assume you were a rogue, have you any place in mind that you are going to? If you do, I may be able to help. I've seen enough places to make suggestions as well."

"Nothing, yet everything brought me here." He said. No real answer to the other male. "My feet lead, and my body just follows." He smiled. Putting a paw on zebra so he could have at it's back. He gently placed his teeth upon the carcass, then he started to rip the skin off the bones. He couldn't say he was too hungry, but a nice bone to chew on was always good. And even better when it was a rib bone.
He stopped to answer the other's next comment. " I couldn't be bound to one place so early in my life, my legs would get sore from not moving where they wish." He said with a smile. Ripping more fur and skin off the back of the zebra then stopping again. "I can't say I know where I'm going. Just where ever the wind takes me to listen to whatever stories I need to hear, and be on my way again."

So Narhari was a real 'rogue' after all. Some days Bombei was concerned to realize that so many of his fellow non-pride-bound folks really were just that...rogue. He would always thank his lucky stars he'd been able to find his purpose so early in life. He may wander, but he never just 'went'. He always knew why he went where he did, and it made his life feel fulfilled. To wander aimlessly was beyond Bombei's realm of comfort. Just walking and eating and sleeping until you stumbled over your destiny? He would much rather seek his future out actively.
He continued to happily eat, stomach bubbling out to show how full he was. Zebra wasn't as good as antelope, but it was good. His hunger gave it flavor, and he feasted gladly.
Oh? The fellow liked stories...Bombei let out a laugh. "It seems my luck is double today! Of late it's been rather easy to find someone to peddle my skills to. You say you go about hearing stories?" He gnawed another chunk of meat of and worked it a while. Eventually he continued, "I, you see, am a wandering storyteller. Well. Among other things. That's my most renowned skill though, I suppose."

Narhari though he had a purpose, even if he didn't know what it was exactly yet. But being bound to one pride hardly interested him. Eventually, Narhari will try to seek any purpose he is to do, but for now it was time to live wild, and have fun. He had just turned to an adult after all. He was young, and needed to act it.
Unlike the other, Narhari loved zebra. It was his favorite, but it was also the easiest thing he could catch. At least that had a lot of meat on it. He wasn't much for hunting, and would rather someone do it for him. Not just because he hated killing, but because he wasn't any good at it either. He got lucky when he even killed the sick ones. He continued to rip off fur and skin until he got to the fleshy and bony part of the meal... Oh this was the good part.
He looked up at the other after chewing on a piece of meat. It was rude to not listen even if eating. "Oh, stories of all kinds are very entertaining. It's interesting to see what other's have gone through. But I can't say I'm much of a story teller, so normally it's them telling me, and me listening." He told the other. He didn't like to share some of his stories, but he had a few that were good to share.

Bombei had to admit, almost more than the food, hearing the sounds of another eating were more welcoming than anything. The calm crunching and gnawing, it was a comforting noise after days of silence. He sat back, allowing himself a moment to digest, licking his chops quite gladly. Mmm, tasty.
"Anyone can tell a story, but it does seem like most people prefer to listen...But that's good! If they didn't, I'd be out of a job, I suppose!" He chuckled, folding a paw over the other. "Speaking of which...I usually offer a tale in turn for a meal. Would you like to hear something? I'm not as familiar with the stories of this region, but I'd gladly share what I do know."
While waiting on the other he leaned in again, and tugged at an exposed bone. It came free with a crackling sort of noise, and he worked at it gladly, calmly breaking into it and gnawing at the marrow inside. The meat was more filling perhaps, but the marrow had a taste all its own.

Narhari gave the other a warm smile. "I'd be glad to hear any story you'd be willing to tell." He said. "I'd give more stories then listen, if I was one with making them sound more interesting then they really are." He told the other. He went back to enjoying his bone and meat as the other would be able to tell him a story with him eating easily.
He didn't need to look at the other to listen, though it was more polite. But who didn't enjoy a good story with your meal. The meat was really good, no reason to let it waste away, and not enjoy it while it was fresh. His once white muzzle now had bits of blood upon it, making it look rather silly on him. His white male also got some on.

Bombei settled in his seat, mulling over what tale to tell. He knew so many, choosing the right one was hard. The occasion called for wither something about the prey animals of the world, a hunting tale, or one of the ever popular tales of the gods and goddesses of their world. Then, a memory of a feast much like this one struck him, and he laughed and pulled another hank of meat over.
"What would you say to the tale of the birth of the goddess of rainbows? It's a newer work of mine, so it's not polished yet, but I'd be glad to share."

He stopped gnawing again with a smile. Blood stained face. "Whatever you wish to tell, dear friend." He said and continued to gnaw back where he was. Oh this meat was good. Better then the last stuff he caught. Which was just a rabbit. He wasn't always lucky when hunting, but that was only because he didn't want to kill healthy things unless they were rabbits. Funny thing about them, there were always so many of them.
His tail drummed the ground, giving a little beat to his eating. It wasn't loud, but he could hear it just as well as anything. His ears were forward for any words the other might speak, so he wouldn't miss a thing. His eyes closed as he was enjoying his dinner. He ate slow. He liked to savor the flavor rather then eat it and not remember what he ate.

Bombe chuckled and nodded. "Alright then. The Tale of The Birth of the Goddess of Rainbows it is...Now let me see...
The Story of the Birth of the Goddess of Rainbows Once upon a time, long long ago, the God of the Sun and the Goddess of Rain wanted to have a child. Gods, as we all know, live a very long time, and so everything about their lives stretches far beyond the span of our own ideas. To have a child would take years, but hey loved each other, and decided to go ahead with it. They planned a long time, talking with other gods and goddesses about names for their child, and where it should be born. Eventually the Goddess of Rain found she was carrying a litter, and the happy parents-to-be rejoiced, sharing their joy with all who could hear.
Sadly, the God of Storms was angered by this. He felt that he and the Goddess of Rain had far more in common that she and the God of the Sun. In a rage he whipped up a fierce gale, and the winds tore the family apart, hurling the God of the Sun far into the sky, leaving the Goddess of Rain, injured and alone, in our own mortal world...
