A quiet day next to the beach... Other Kimera might not find it relaxing, with all of the other creatures lurking beneath the waters but this particular Arnulf did. He was sure that he had some mutant blood somewhere in his family line, though that couldn't be proven since he didn't know much about them anyway.

For a moment he padded in the sands but then walked a ways into the water, enjoying the fresh smell of the water, the taste of salt as his tongue darted to lick his nose.
He was just barely in enough to float on the water, doggy-paddling in the water. His wings spread out slightly, giving him the apperance of a manta ray, albeit more clumsy.

Achak had always enjoyed the water, and even now his bi colored eyes looked down as his muzzle dipped slightly into the water so he could see the clear depths below him. No one else would be out here on a day like this, it was dreary and forboding of rain. A perfect day for this Arnulf.

Far below the waves, a brighter figure swooped and darted, graceful as a dancing dolphin. Jacinth liked nothing better than the feel of water rushing over her fur and fins, and dreary, rainy days like today were pefect for staying underwater. While the weather on the surface might be less than pleasant, the wind and rain didn't reach far below.

Yet she was still a mammal, and needed to come up for air sometime. But nothing was stopping her from having fun with it. She dove down to the bottom of the ocean, making sure she was in the lowest spot she could see. Then she rocketed toward the surface, swimming as fast as she could until she burst above the surface in a gigantic leap.

At the peak of her jump, Jacinth spotted another kimera by the shore. Was that another arnulf? She hadn't expected to see another kimera here today. She dove back into the water, then dashed toward the coast in a series of smaller jumps to investigate further. It was indeed another arnulf, and he wasn't letting the fact that he wasn't the aquatlic variation stop him from enjoying the water.

She stopped a few yards away from the other arnulf and tread water so that she could speak to him. "Hello there," she called. "What brings you here today?"

The black and white Arnulf dipped under the water completely for a few moments before he came back to the surface, happily shaking his fur of the excess water before he licked his nose again. It was habit, keeping his airways clean so he could always smell what was coming.

Something coming from under the water however, couldn't gain his attention until it drew nearer. Another Kimera... And an Arnulf as well! Her pattern was unique, and she was
quite beautiful, he noted. His tail curled slightly over his back as he looked to her, wagging softly.

"Hello to you too. I thought it was a good day for a swim, I do not like crowds of other Kimera." She was an aquatic 'mutant', though she didn't seem too much different than himself. Her fins were not too much different than his wings, but her front paws were more like flippers.

Jacinth nodded to the other arnulf. It seems his reason for being out her matched hers rather closely, although she did not mind many kimera around as long as they didn't try to attack her. "It's a good day to swim, indeed. Then again, most days are," she responded. She paddled closer to him, then flipped on her back like a sea otter just for the fun of it and swam in a loose circle around him. His markings put her in mind of some sort of dog she'd seen, though she didn't remember the kind. They were rather striking, though.

"It looks like I'm the only one around, so no need to worry about crowds. Not that the beach is a particularly popular place in weather like this," she said conversationally.

It was lucky for Achak that his markings kept most of those who would attack him away. He was rather unique, and a bigger Arnulf to be sure. At least his thick fur made it seem so, but here in the water his muscle was obvious as well.

"For you, maybe. It does get cold when one has to get out of the water and run back home in the
middle of the winter." Achak smiled and relaxed, though paddled lightly to make sure he stayed afloat.

"It should be. I love it when it rains." His tail wagged slightly, even though it was still curled over his back.

Jacinth chuckled at his first comment. "Well yes, it's not fun trying to walk when your fur wants to freeze. When it's that cold, staying in a warm den has its perks." She stopped swiming and just floated for a bit. Her fins rippled like a manta ray, and her tail served as a rudder to keep her balance.

"Rain is nice. I've found It can make some rather interesting patterns on the surface of the water when you watch it from below. But I'm sure its not something many non-aquatic people would care to see." She looked over the ocean, watching the waves come rolling toward the beach. "Though its easier to see farther from the shore, or in a lake. The motion of the waves here would have it too hard to see the patter of the rain."

The husky-Arnulf nodded with a slight smile on his maw. "A nice warm den is great in the winter." He was sure that she was used to the water being colder this time of the year, and there were warm currents that ran in from other places.

"Hm. Maybe not something non-water dwellers can see very well." He chuckled gently. "I cannot dive very far before my ears start to hurt." Hm... He shifted a bit to rest his wings and tail, content in knowing that he wouldn't start to sink. "Can you get out of the water?" He was sorry if that seemed like an odd or mean question - he was just curious.

(OOC: They never introduced themselves, but Achack called her by name. Would you mind editing that?)

Jacinth cocked her head at the question. It was a bit of an odd one, and she wondered a bit where it came from. "Of course I can get out of the water. My paws are fully functional, and I did just mention I can walk. I tend to spend a good bit of time swimming, though, since I enjoy it so much." She paused, wondering again why he would have asked. Was he getting tired of swimming, or not want to keep talking in the water? She paddled over to the beach and trotted onto the sand, then stopped to shade the seawater from her fur.

As she turned to face him again, she rememberd that she didn't know his name, and vice versa. Her ears folded a bit back in embarassment as she said, "Ah, I don't think I ever introduced myself, did I? Sorry for my lack of manners. My name's Jacinth, what's yours?"

(Gah, sorry. ^^ Not paying attention.)

Sure it was odd... He wasn't tired of swimming, but curious. "Just wondering. Most aquatic creatures cannot come out of the water for long periods of time due to their skin drying out." He moved to follow her back to the shore, shaking his fur slightly.

It was harder for the water to penetrate his thick coat, and luckily he felt warm under it but the outside was still wet, making him look almost comical. "Don't think so - sorry I didn't think of it either. Name's Achak."

Jacinth chuckled at Achack's explanation of his question. Now she could understood his puzzlement, though she sort of wondered how he thoought her furred skin would dry out like an amphibian's. "I think you're thinking of things like frogs and newts. Their skin is soft, has no fur and needs to stay damp all the time. But there are other aquatic mammals, like seals and otters, and they can stay in and out of the water as long as they like."

She nodded politely at the male. "Pleased to meet you, Achak."

"Yeah... Well, fish dry out too... Guess I didn't realise you had thick fur like mine." He smiled a little and nosed her shoulder. They both looked a little drowned - their fur made them look bigger than they were.

"Pleased to meet you too, Jacinth." He gave a little smile, showing some teeth but unable to help it.
He had large jaws - every thing about him seemed rather large.

For a moment he thought, shaking his head slightly as he felt a little water drip into his ears. It didn't seem so bad however, the sensation soon gone. "So. D'you have a whole pack down there?" He asked with a slight wag of his tail. It was always interesting to meet new creatures.

"Fish do dry out, but they can't breathe out of water, anyway. They're gonners if they're out of the water for more than a few moments." Hre fur was still dripping a bit, so she took a couple steps back from Achack and shook the water off again. Sometimes she wishes her fur would repell water like an otter's; it'd be so much easier to dry off when she came on land.

"Nope, I haven't got a pack, neither above or under the water. I do have a daughter and an adopted son, though. Neither of them are aquatic. I visit them from time to time, but aside from that I generally keep to myself." The question did make her think for a moment, though. Generally she was perfectly happy living by herself, though companionship was always welcome while it lasted. Would she join a pack if the opportunity presented itself? That might be something to think about later.

There was a nod from Achak. Sometimes his curiosity made him seem like he was dull, but he merely wanted to know. He was unsure of aquatic mutations until now, but it seemed that she wasn't so different from him. Just the bigger claws on her forlegs, her wings more like fins. But her fur seemed the same, thick like his own even if such a different color.

"I don't have a pack either, but I know of a few other arnulfs around. I like having time to m'self, without other creatures around. Can be good though, to have some new surrooundings." His ears flickered a little as he lifted a paw to scratch at the base of one, feeling some water dripping into it. Irritating, but it wouldn't hurt.

Jacinth nodded back and was about to respond when a loud grumble from her stomach interrupted her. She chuckled lightly at the sound. "It seems I'm getting hungry," she said instesd. "I ought to look for some food. Care to join me?" She waged her tail lightly as she waited for a response. It might be nice to share a meal with someone, she hadn't done so in a while.

The low grumble, for a moment, had Achak smiling. His companion was hungry... And from the soft gurgling of his own stomach, so was he. There was a nod as his tail wagged.

"I'd like some food too... Let's go hunt." He took a few steps forward, but let her fall into line with him as they walked. "What do you like to eat?
