He was being brave, he was being daring.. he was away from his pride, his home, his family and certain safety. Tiki was a small lion, especially for a male, but he was determined to make up for it with his big attitude and general greatness. This was a kind of self test. Kind of. He was out on his own and that, in his mind, said a lot! But of course, he had no idea what he would do now. The roguelands were large and interesting, but from where he was standing every direction pretty much looked the same and none of it looked really attractive enough to investigate enthusiastically. He wasn't hungry or he'd hunt.
Maybe he would provoke a rogue! ... Or just talk to one. Whatever.
But first! He needed to find one.

Kichea smirked as she followed a purple butterfly, it reminded her of her mother. She jumped over a small brook and then rolled in the grass while the butterfly sipped nectar from a flower. She stood and shook, her fur now wet from dew. The butterfly flew up into the air and she sighed sadly as she watched it fly away. "Mom.........." She hung her head not noticing her surroundings as well as perhaps she should have been and as she walked she tripped over a log and fell face first in the dirt.

Tiki was trying a little too hard to find someone, he didn't notice that the blue lioness was nearby. Until he heard the sounds of her tripping over the long and hitting the ground. He stopped walking and looked in the direction of the sound- and immediately wondered how he had missed that brightly colored lioness.
Blinking and shaking his head, at his own bad observation and her clumsiness.. he jogged over.
"Are you OK?" he asked loudly, puffing up to see larger- though it wasn't very effective.

She looked up, her nose dirty, "I-I think so" A slight blush could almost be seen through her bright blue fur. "I'm Kichea...." She stood up and shook, "What's your name?" She sat in front of him, rubbing dirt from her nose with her blue paw.

Tiki bit back a laugh at the dirt on her nose, which was unusual. He was more the type to over-dramatize everything to make a point, to make himself stand out. And she was ok, he could laugh. She even introduced herself, which made him grin smugly- see, rogues weren't that bad at all!
"I'm Tikiti," he replied confidently, "How'd you end up over the log?"

She sighed and looked away, "Got distracted......." She brushed the dirt from her nose with a paw. Her eyes took him in, smirking at how tiny he was, "So what brings you here?" She was moving some dirt with her paw, it accidentally flicked on to him. "Oops..."

"Distracted?" he repeated curiously, looking around for whatever could possibly be distracting her. He didn't see anything, which made the blue lioness seem all the more strange. She hadn't been watching him so he wasn't the distraction. Maybe she was a little.. odd.
"I was just-" Tiki stopped when suddenly she flicked dirt onto him, jumping back very suddenly and defensively. He had a lot of siblings and had always made a point of making sure he didn't go unnoticed.. he reacted strongly to sudden 'attacks' like that.
"I'm just exploring," he said proudly, puffing back up confidently and ignoring the incident with the dirt, "I'm from the Kusini'mwezi, I'm checking out the roguelands." He tried to say it as though he were on some important mission, a job entrusted to him.. so long as she didn't know where the pride was, it could just be a short walk away and he could be doing something important like .. scouting, guarding.. or.. whatever.
It could happen!

Kichea looked him over wondering if he was some sort of important lion, although he was very small so probably not. "Well that's ......... interesting...." She looked back at the log and sighed, "I was watching a purple butterfly... That's why I tripped over that stupid log." Her eyes grew sad as her ears laid back, tail drooping. "Happy now?" She didn't want to be mean but, he'd got her thinking about her mother and she couldn't help but be sad. She'd lost her mother and her siblings, she was all alone. A slight shiver ruffled through her raising her fur as she turned her head quickly, a tear flying off.

He could tell she didn't believe him. And it was irritating- he was used to it, but he was still annoyed by it. He wasn't expecting the sudden turn in her commentary. She was much feistier than she looked. It was intriguing and annoying- so now he didn't hesitate to laugh at her when she said it was a butterfly that tripped her over the log.
"You tripped over a log because you were watching a butterfly?" he asked with a chuckle, watching her turn away as if she were about to burst into tears, "That's not sad, that's funny."

She growled at him and flung a paw full of dirt in his face. "You are a very rude lion Tikiti" She started to storm away, her tail twitching in irritation, her eyes full of tears. She missed her mother so much and this annoying male had the nerve to laugh at her, he had no idea what she and her siblings had been through without their mom and now she didn't even have Pepo or Noki, her two favorite siblings, she just wanted to find a dark place to cry, away from purple butterflies and away from Tikiti.

The chuckling pale lion let out a snarl when suddenly he had dirt flung into his face. He growled at the irony of her calling him rude and then kicking dirt at him intentionally, and he could hear her stomping away but he had to take a moment to get the dirt off his face, away from his eyes. He made a vain effort to stumble forward while rubbing his eyes against this legs, and blinking through the remaining irritation he looked up to see where she had gone.
She wasn't hard to find, she was so brightly colored. And no matter how polite he might have tried to be beforehand, he'd been provoked now! He was smaller than her, but that wasn't going to stop him.
"Hey!" he called after her angrily, jumping up and running to catch up to her, "What is your problem?"

Kichea broke down and cried, "Just leave me alone......" She kept walking, every ounce of the happy, bouncy Kichea had vanished from existance and although she was sick of feeling so horribly sad she couldn't help it. "Go back to your family while you still have them" She mumbled, her footsteps becoming softer , her tail dragging on the ground. She saw the purple butterfly again and sighed.

Tiki stopped when he heard that she was crying and he narrowed his red eyes. He didn't know if it was some weird tactic to walk away the winner (which was possible in his furious little mind) .. or if girls were just weird like that sometimes. He had sisters, he didn't think they were that unusual. Maybe rogues were crazy.
Then she commented on his family, and he stood tall- confused and defensive.
"What's that supposed to mean?" he yelled, about ready to just turn and walk away from the insane blue thing but not the type to easily back down from a fight. Though this was hardly a fight. She was provoking him without actually being truly threatening, he was confused.

She looked back at him "I miss mine......" Her ears laid down as she turned back quickly and kept on walking. The purple butterfly flew down and landed softly on Tiki's nose while Kichea walked. A herd of antelope ran by and Kichea watched them go, not in the least bit interested even though the blue lioness's stomach was growling like mad.
"I miss you mommy" She whispered quietly as she walked next to a small stream, leading her away from Tiki.

I miss mine?
What the--? He was busy staring at Kichea when the butterfly swooped down and landed on his face. Surprised by the sudden invasion of his personal space, he jumped- and he watched as the bright blue lioness started to wander away. Tiki watched with narrowed red eyes for a moment, and decided he'd had enough of this. She was a bit too strange (and not the most amicable lioness) to want to stick around. He didn't HAVE to care, so he chose not to.
"Whatever," he grumbled and turned to walk off. He'd find more interesting rogues.
