Every time i see a loli model, she's short and skinny (probably partially from the japanese influence). This rather bugs me, considering i'm 5'11'' and have quite the hourglass figure. It seems that the whole fashion is mostly for the smaller, more petite girls- and i'm not just talking about sizes in stores.

Spoon-feed:
-Do you generally think of loli's as short?
-Should all loli's be rail-thin or petite?
-If you see a tall loli, does it seem odd to you?

i dont think it matters much about size as much as it matters about finding cuts and styles that flatter your body. when i wear my boots , im 6'3" and that doesnt stop me from wearing anything vaguely lolita. the only problem i have is finding long enough skirts for when i try to look EGA. although i love EGL and sweet loli stuff, its easier for me to pull off EGA and kodona.

I don't think it matters. I'm short, but I also have Japanese and Korean in my blood, there's no getting around the shortness. What matters is finding clothes that suit your body type, like blacklipstick said. heart

Personally I don't think it matters how tall you are. If you are already very tall you might want to steer clear of the really ridiculously tall platforms but other than that I don't see any problems.

The only size issue I have, and I get myself into heaps of trouble everytime I mention it, is that if you have a bigger figure very frilly styles (BtSSB for example) aren't necessarily flattering. This doesn't mean bigger girls can't dress egl though. You just have to be more careful about choosing styles that will look good on you. There are plenty of awesome looking styles that are more structured and tailored.

Of course you can always decide you love the frill-overload too much and go for it anyway. I'm just a firm believer in dressing to your advantage.. And since egl is about being a dignified lady you'd think everyone would try real hard to look their best. But that's a whole other discussion right there.

i can see why the models are short and skinny, that is what people want to see, and thats what the magazines want to show. i know it's not fun for us to see, but it is the case (studies media ^^).
I've got an extreme hourglass figure, i have a 10" difference between my bust/hips and waist! and i'm always 2 odd inches away from being able to fit into an authentic dress. I'm 5'5", and even my height is concidered tall.
In Japan obviously most of the people there are short, so i guess thats what the models are going to be. Short and petite.

I think all women should have a small belly to them, it adds character (:

...sorry if this doesn't answer any questions >>

OMG I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! T_____________T
Im 5'10 3/4
I got in a depressive rant to someone about this, and they really didnt share all of their opinion, so blah to them *gives person the bird* scream

Im not bisexual or anything, but I find short lolitas very attractive. gonk Like my catgirl roleplay character, who I wish i could be, if I sold my soul. lol

But, I think, if you're tall, and you can look as cute as a 5'0 lolita, more power to your sister(or brother whee )

I wish i was shorter, since I love platform boots, but dont want to be 2903843209 feet tall while wearing them. I mean, Im already about as tall as my boyfriend, I wouldnt like to walk around with him, looking cute and stuff, when I have boots big enough to make him at least a foot taller than him. ._.

That's about my only gripe about that

Im not rail thin, or petite, xp So no, I dont think they should. But I did see a really reeally large woman dress lolita, and she kind of remind me more of a powder puff than lolita. ._. I know it sounds mean, but that's my opinion on the person. redface Im sure if I dressed lolita, someone would think the same of me.

And If I saw someone as a tall lolita, I would run up to them and demand a high five. xp

I've always wished to be shorter because when a girl is short, she looks cute and more child-like. I'm 5'9" which is kind of tall for a girl and I weigh like, 110 pounds so it's nearly impossible for me to fit into anything. I need XS tops -- sometimes even XXS except I can rarely buy long sleeve t-shirts because the really small ones that fit my chest have shorter sleeves and I'm tall and lanky.

I would not be able to buy any lolita clothes from any Japanese designers, unfortunately. There is no doubt in my mind that they would all be far too short.

Actually, most of the models in japanese magazines are TALLER than the average japanese height by a good 2" or more (being that the average height there is about 5'2", and most models are 5'4" or 5'5"). Only Metamorphose really has shorter models, and it's more that they have a mix of heights.

I'm both very short and petite (though I have a 12" difference between my waist and hips/bust... I have to be careful with styles to make sure I emphasize my waist so I don't look chubby, and make sure I don't overemphasize my chest which makes me look top-heavy), so I can't really can't symphathize.

However, I think that it doesn't matter what height or size you are when you dress lolita. So long as you do it properly (ex: most girls, irregardless of height, wear their skirts way too short and wear too heavy dark makeup, etc.) then I don't see why you can't be a fabulous lolita! Also dressing to flatter your figure is important no matter what size you are ^_^.

Hmm... Was it super frilly lolita? I'm not the thinnest person in the world, myself, but I'm not too large either. XB I do fear though if I were to dress in lolita and it were frilly then I'd look like a powderpuff, so I try to stay away from way too floofy skirts or don't wear a petticoat underneath.

And I've seen some really tall girls dress lolita before, I thought it looked really pretty. (o__O)

My girlfriend is 6 foot 1, curvy and she pulls off EGA perfectly. And she even has no trouble finding full-length skirts to fit her. *is gealous of her* I guess the only problem with being a giant lolita monster is having to make your own clothes. But garauntee, it'd look good none-the-less.
