Tufah's life had never been this perfect. As she basked in the last of the evening sunshine, it struck her just how perfect it was. Her dearest fool Simi should be around shortly, she was laying outside the main den of Priderock, she had good family around her...Tahka was even going to move back to the Pridelands and he was her closest sibling, even if she wasn't his (Sara was his 'twin' after all). Sara and hers flourished in the Outlands. So there was nothing she really wanted or lacked. Simi's love was making her gentler, yeeees, but Tufah kind of liked it. She felt as if she were claws sheathed, still dangerous but velveted. It had been mildly disconcerting at first, all this good stuff happening around her, especially when she recalled if the first few weeks just how radical she'd had to be to finally get Simi to be hers (Tufah was rather a proud creature after all)...But it had worked and Tufah no longer felt ashamed. Not to mention she'd gone from a part time nanny and good huntress with no prospects to being the beloved mate of the new king because of it. The rank hadn't changed much in her life to be honest and just this morning she'd gone to babysit her 'nephews' along with a pawful of other youngsters, but she'd always been an ambitious female. Even though she knew it was tragedy that had placed her so, and did wish Simi's family back, the greedy part of her rejoiced. Tiah, and Taka for that matter, hopefully could see her from up in the stars. Could see how well things had gone for their kin - and Tufah hoped they were proud of her.

Simi's paws had carried him through much of the lands during the day, and he was ready for a rest. Never would he have guessed the sheer amount of duties that his mother had gone through. He thought that it would slow once the newnest of his title wore off, but it seemed to never end. He wwas, and would be, sacrificing himself to the pride. No wonder he had grown up ignoring it all. The past was the past, though, and he was grateful for what he had now.
In face, he could see her right now.
He let his pace remian unchanged, but his head and ears perked up a bit. A small smile grew across his face. Feh, he was so going to take the rest of the day off. There were many things perhaps to talk about with others, but they could wait until tomorrow. Nothing in the world changed that quickly. And if there was an emergency, he was easy enough to find.
With an exhasperated sigh, he flopped unceremoniously next to his mate. He grumbled a bit beofre speaking. "Ugh, I quit. I need a break."

"Seems fair enough to me beloved." She rolled with lazy grace from laying on her side to on her belly, so she might nuzzle briefly at her mate. "You've barely stopped from what I've seen since you left my side this morning."
As Tufah had been doing now from a young age, she sized up Simi, trying to guess what'd please him. Question was did he have any energy left? It could be weary work doing all the tasks of a king - should she entertain him, to cheer him up and get him going again or soothe him ready for a restful night? Or maybe spice things up some and start a small debate just so they could spark off each other?
Choices, choices.
"I'm glad you're back at my side now. Care to go for a walk or to savour the last of the sun here?" She offered a small smile and hooded her eyes.

"I never thought it would be this much work," he complained, unmoved from his position. He sighed and lowered his head to rest on his forepaws, letting his mind wander around. It was dangerous to do this, but he hadn't quite broken the habit yet.
The question that Tufah offered him did drive him away from his sad mind state, though. He smiled at his mate as he rose his head, agreeing to the offer. In truth, he had really just wanted to lie next to her for a while, but he would never directly say that. He assumed that she wanted to walk, but then she did openly offer it...
"How about we relax here for a bit longer," he said with a content sigh added on. "And then we'll go for a walk to stretch our muscles." He was feeling quite lazy today. He nestled himself closer to his side, feeling completely content.
As a long moment passed, he felt the tug of sleep at him. Arg. Questions, questions....he had to stay awake. "Have you heard anything interesting passing through the lioness'?" Females and their rumors.

"Nothing really of interest, the usual trifles and news of how family members are faring." Next to her, he could probably feel her little shrug. Tufah had never been one for true gossip, especially after some b***h somewhere in the pride had tried to poison Simi against her with (sort of true but also very false) information. Not to mention the rumors that had circulated when she and her siblings were but cubs. It's never fun to find out your prospective playmate has been warned against being friend with you.
"You know, you could always delegate a few tasks to me. I'd happily help out and there's more than enough lions around who're happy to play nanny for a while..." She suggested lightly. Tufah still wasn't entirely sure in some ways. Life seemed perfect but for all she knew someone out there remembered those rumors from seasons long past - and would resent her even relaying messages for her king. She doubted she'd ever be as beloved as the former queen and her consort, or Mufasa and Sarabi, had been.

Simi rolled himself over, flopping an arm over Tufah protectively. He knew that she probably wanted to do more, but he was...well, worried. He just didn't want to see her stressed out like he had seen his mother. "Maybe a little bit, but most of it is really boring." He felt like he could be truthful with her. It was a lot of boring, but that was what he had taken up. And he certainly wasn't going to ditch out of it now.
"If you really want to, though. I-I mean, you can do what you'd like to do..." He still wasn't very good at telling Tufah what to do. Or, suggesting it. He felt like she could handle herself. Obviously she could, she was a very strong-willed lioness.
With that thought, he shifted his head in to give her a nuzzle. And hopefully she wouldn't be going anywhere, either.

She purred, nuzzled down at him with a soft rumbling growl, and nipped at his cheek - tough love had always been Tufah and her family's way. Can't have too much of this pure lovey dovey stuff after all....and it still surprised her just how much she loved him. Not been part of the plan at all. Side effect. Mmmmm.
"I don't want to impose that's all. But two sets of paws can cover more ground and it'd mean we'd get more done. And it could mean more time together after since it'd all get done faster."

He himself was not used to this tough love thing, but he couldn't help but enjoy it, as it was coming from Tufah. He let himself become enraptured by her for a moment, letting his mind slip away from the world and only focus on him. It was turning into a bad habit, one that he only did with Tufah.
The lull from the real world slowly pulled him back, though. He grumbled a bit, resting his head on her forelegs.
"You always have a good point to go against my thoughts, don't you?" He would always lose in a battle of wits with his mate. "As long as you don't get stressed about it. The help would be wonderful. Most of it is quelling the worries of the members over everything." Seriously, the world was not going to end if the watering hole was a little bit dirty.

"You'd get bored if we agreed about everything." She licked the spot she'd bitten briefly. He was an intelligent lion but Tufah liked to think she was good at using her smarts to find her an advantage. Besides she liked arguing some - it was like verbal sparring and often lead to finding a better solution.
"And see? If I can quell your worries like so, I'm sure I'll be able to turn my paw to this." So long as they accept me, she thought, squashing her little insecurities mercilessly. So many of the pride are rogues or born of former rogues. They probably have no idea who I am. Stop being weak and illogical. Be confident, be charming, you can handle helping your mate....
"I used to be such a charmer once, after all."

"I'll never be bored with you," he responded, knowing just how lame it sounded. But hey, it was true, and he was never one to lie. Ever. He was just happy that everything had somehow come together in the end, even with their ah...quite vocal fight.
He sighed, feeling quite defeated. "All right, all right. I'll bring you along with me. I'm sure everyone will not mind you being there; you are my mate, after all." A sly grin grew on his face as he slowly got himself up onto his paws. He took extra moments to stretch out his muscles, groaning a bit as he hit the ones that were a little too tight. Ouch.
"Now, about that walk...where did you want to go?" She always seemed to have a good idea in her mind.

"Your mate indeed." She said with a flirty grin of her own, and she rubbed her shoulders against his chest after she rose. They'd been talking buisness, now it was time to talk pleasure.
Once upon a time, a teenage Tufah aware she needed to keep up her goody-goody act in the pride had gone seeking fun over the border. She'd let many handsome male rogues chase her tail...but none she'd let catch her or if they'd been too insistent she'd corrected them with claw and fang. Tufah was rather smug and satisfied Simi was her mate in every sense, still. As she used to say, he was tasty and it was just another thing she loved about life lately.
"Maybe we could go see if we can't find that cave where we found treasures when we were young or go down to the pools at the gorge for a swim?"
