(AIM RP log: DFA and Kimaria)
Rokopelli was practising again.
She'd dedicated atleast a little time each day to trying to concentrate, somewhere where no one could butt in and ruin her concentration. For she was easily distracted and any little thing could break her focus and ruin any chance of practise. Today her session was taking place by the sea, as it usually did. She'd found that her powers were more effective when being put up against something like sand.
So today, with the power of telekinesis she was shifting the sand into various little shapes in front of her. At the moment she was trying to form the shape of the temple back home in the desert of the Dawn Walkers. It was far from being an image of the beautiful construct, but it was getting there.
Her bi-coloured eyes were narrowed and her delicate little face was screwed up intently as she tried to strengthen the little walls of the tiny temple.
She never thought that practicing could be so much fun!
--
Life was but a game; Silos had long since arrived upon such a conclusion, however... when there were no players to acompain him, it turned into a rather dull one, needless to say. That was the reason the god was on the move constantly, seeking out others that would indulge in playing with him. Mostly because, well, if there was something Silos hated, it was boredome, and sadly, right now, he was very, VERY bored. It showed in the way the adolescent opened his maw wide into a yawn, his tongue curling up in the process, "Meh..." the single sound was grumped to winds as he padded along.
He was about to give up on his searching when he spotted a rather... colorful shape in the distance; he was instantly attracted over and was pleased to notice the shape to be a goddess working on what seemed to be... Darku Angel (16:40:35): the construction of a sand castle, "Eh, it's easier of you do that out at shore, love. Wet sand makes it easier to make sand castle, yah know?"
--
She looked up, startled.
The moment her concentration broke the sand castle literally disintegrated, becoming nothing but a dismal little pile of sand at her forepaws. Her brows furrowed and a little cry of despair broke free. It was so hard to keep her power working when there were others around! She swept the sand away with a rouge gesture of her paw and stood and shook herself, lifting her rainbow wings so they arched above her head.
She was a small goddess in proportion to others but her wings certainly did help give her a larger appearance.
If Roko had been in charge today she might have given the other youth a fond smile and a hello. However, Pelli was the one in control today and she was determined to get her powers up to scratch - which wouldn't happen if she kept getting disturbed. Either way, she was a little wary of this one.
She'd never had any problems with goddesses, but she'd had a few run-ins with Gods and they hadn't been good. Only Juukie and Bahari'nswi had been able to win her friendship. She'd been attacked by a God and taunted by another. She wasn't about to let it happen again.
"Wet sand might be easier but it's no challenge for us when it holds itself." She lifted her head higher, the sun catching on the gold snake above her eyes. "Who're you?" She asked after another moment, eyeing up his pelt. "God of...Sand?"
--
A brow arched as he watched the castle crumble into nothingness, "What a pity; such a waste. It was lookin' good an' all," he wasn't really talking to her, but rather, voicing a random opinion; he was either completely unaware he had been the cause of the ordeal or whats chosing to ignore the fact. His gaze racked over from the pile of sand back to the goddess; while he wasn't particularly large (average, really), his wings were comicaly small, folded upon his back, looking almost useless in proportion to his size.
"Huuuuuuh...." he murmured as he tilted his head almost childishly to the side, wide eyes blinking once; he'd noticed the way she was chosing to refer to herself as 'we' but decided to not comment upon it. After all, he'd met more than one cub that did that, talking about an imaginary friend. Whom was he to judge, "So it's a challenge you want?" a small smile appeared upon his maw, and rather taunting, it was almost equvalent to the way children looked when they saw a game in the near distance, "Nah! Nowhere near. M'the god of Youth, hon. You know the whole saying about everyone having a child that lives inside their heart? That's me. I represent that inner child. And you?" he lifted a paw towards her wings, almost as if shamelessly about to touch them, then pause, "You've got pretty wings. Goddess of rainbows?"
--
She frowned at him.
It was comical really, a childish reaction to having her peaceful bubble popped by this rather outgoing figure. She fluffed up her chest and watched him with her mismatched eyes, confused about what exactly this meeting was going to bring. Wasn't she just practising a minute ago?
She shook her head in open-mouthed dismay and then took a small step back. Was he challenging her? When did she say she wanted to be challenged? Oh wait...she didn't mean by him. She wanted to challenge herself! No, no. no! This God was getting the completely wrong idea about her!
She took a step back and clamped her jaw shut, shaking her head fiercely from side to side. "Nah-uh."
And then he continued and she found herself intrigued. God of Youth? Always young, always full of life, always at the peak of their physical capabilities. She wasn't sure if a God could grow old, but she was sure nothing could last forever. A God could be reborn, so did that mean that they eventually got so old that they died, without the help of another? Without being murdered? Did that mean this God could never die, so long as he wasn't attacked and killed? He'd always be young and strong, never frail...never vulnerable physically. He'd be smaller than an adult, yes, but that meant he'd be swift.
So lost in these thoughts she didn't see his paw reaching for her and thus didn't pull away again. She snapped to attention at his compliment and a smile returned to her maw. "Thank you." And she flapped them once. "Nope. Goddess of..." A pause, a blink. "Confusion." She replied.
Then, remembering his previous crime she frowned again. "You ruined our concentration!"
--
It was almost as if he read her mind, because no sooner did she shake her head furiously, that the male wrinkled his nose, mirth lighting his eyes, "Not gonna challenge you hon, unless it's a game you want. Games are always fun," despite his answer, he was vaguely unaware of the spiraling thoughts she was having concerning himself and his domain; it was, in fact, true he would never age, and would die young, and be rebirthed just as young. In fact, one of his favorite passtimes was to taunt adult males that were too violent for their own good; a swish of his paw and they were reverted to mere, harmless cubs that could do nothing but watch him tower over them. The effect didn't last long, but oh, it was enough to create hliraious situations.
A blink of his eyes as she smiled at him, "Ah!" he pointed at her maw just as soon as she reverted back to anger, "I saw that! You smiled!" mirth colored his eyes again as he winked, "You look much prettier when you smile!" he took the oportunity to sit back upon his haunches, tail swishing back and forth behind him, much like a content dog, "Awww... m'sorry, hadn't meant to ruin your concentration, luff, but I'm kinda... dorward by nature. Sides, as good and dandy as concentration is, maybe I can help? You should learn to focuss even with outside distractions, right?"
--
She relaxed a little when he said that he wouldn't challenge her and began to think that maybe he wasn't so bad after all. Would a God who meant to harm her say nice things or smile like that? No. In fact, he sort of reminded her of Juuku in a funny little way. His carefree, outgoing nature. The two would probably get on really well.
The smile returned again at his teasing and she reached out to batt at his paw. "Don't say that." She replied. "We haven't done anything to get flattered." Even still, she seemed pleased and a little purr rumbled at the back of her throat. "Help? Help how? We haven't done anything to say we needed help? We're just fine...aren't we?" She paused and glanced to one side, almost as if expecting to see someone else standing there.
Then she sat and curled her tail around her, letting her eyes glance back to the mound of sand. "Game..." She murmered softly. "You want to play a game? Did you say you knew fun games?"
--
"Oh, I 'unno; I think you've done plenty. I was kinna bored before I found you. That's more than enough for me," he placed a paw dramaticaly on his chest then, "You've saved me from a painful death via boredome. How shall I ever repay you, my fair lady?" his gaze too fell to her side, his head tilting just so, as if by doing so, he might somehow see what it is he was looking at, "What's your name? And what's the other's name?" the questions were spoken easily, as if he had absolutely no problem with them... as if he honestly didn't think it weird that there was another that he could not see.
"Silos' my name, and Fun is mah game. Hon, I know all the games in the world," such confidence, but then again, confidence was one of the things that represented youth; even if it was confidence that came before a fall, "I dunno which type o' games you like to play, but I, myself, like to make those that have forgotten what is it to be a child, return to those days once more. It's kinna funny."
--
She beamed. Well this certainly was flattery. She couldn't say that she disliked it but it did make her feel a little odd. Her face felt odd and she felt sort of...weird. Truly she'd never been given a compliment before and the emotion she was experiencing was embarrasment and an unknowing how to respond.
She just giggled.
"Um...We don't know." She fluttered her wings and then settled them at her sides, looking up at he asked his next question. Now that was a question she could answer!
"I am Roko and I am Pelli." She replied. "We're Rokopelli, see?" She giggled. "That's our name." She paused and nodded. "Silos, right. I'll try and remember!" She stepped closer.
"Being a child?" She tipped her head a little. Now this was where things got complicated. Rokopelli had always been a child at heart. Or, Roko, was a child at heart. Roko was innocence, carefree fun, full of naive love and trust. However, Roko had been forced into submission when fear had overcome her and Pelli was in charge. And though Pelli was innocent too, she was not determined to stay in her childlike state. She wanted to grow up, she wanted to become strong and powerful. Yet she certainly was not an adult and she was definately naive to the ways of the world.
"Roko is a child. Pelli is not. Pelli doesn't want to be a child because children can't control their powers."

"You don't know? Well, I'll let you ponder that over, yes?" he seemed amused still, as if enjoying the encounter; most gods he'd come by had been... horribly dissapointing, mostly because he'd found them to be rather stuck up, allmighty and without a sense for fun. This girl seemed diferent though, childish, and he liked that. Had no one ever paid her a compliment before? The way she was acting, almost flustered seemed to be pointing towards that, and Silos found that to be almost sad.
Well, if she'd not recieved a compliment before, he'd make sure she at least had a good time while in his presence; in a way, it was almost like his job.
Her answer made him tilt his head first towards the right and then towards the left, however, comprehension seemed to swiftly dawn upon his features; double personality perhaps? Two in one? It made a strange sort of sense to him, and he never so much as questioned it, "Ahhhhh, I see," nodded, as if everything she'd said made perfect sense to him; perhaps it did, after all, youth was the age of believing. Again, whom was he to judge? "That means it probably never gets lonely for you!" delighted by the idea, the god paused; hmmmm.... maybe he should go about looking for another 'him' at some point. The whole idea of never being lonely inside yourself was fascinating.
As the goddess spoke, Silos closed her eyes, "Well, that might be true. But... there are things only children can do. Believe without hesitation... to image things beyond boundaries... there's many things adults can not do," a pause as he pushed his head forward till his nose settled against Pelli's, "If you grow up, you should make sure never to lose the child within."
--
"Ponder it? Um, yes, okay." She peeped curiously and drew forth both ears to watch him. He certainly was a curious sort. It was odd really to think how Gods were so different, how they so mirrored their elements. Juukie was laid back and flowing as the water, Pele seemed fiery as a volcano, stubborn and bright. Bahari was noble and kingly, because he ruled over fish. Her adoptive mother Koya was calm and unchangeable and wise, just like the past. She couldn't remember her mother or father's element and she didn't know the elements of those males who had attacked her, but she had no doubt that they somehow resembled what they represented.
If that was the case then maybe it wasn't their fault they had attacked her. Maybe it was written into them just as she was doomed to forever be confused and confuse others.
"Not lonely." She agreed whole-heartedly. "But we argue a lot. Roko doesn't want to use her power. She thinks its bad. But we've been attacked and stuff and I believe that we have to grow up and be strong so we can protect ourselves."
She fell silent as he continued and watched as he drew closer. Then suddenly his nose was against hers and she felt that bout of embarrasment flood over her. She blinked and put on an awkward little smile. "O-okay." She doubted Roko would ever let her be completely grown-up in any case.
"W-what's it like, Silos? To be...young all the time?" She paused. "We mean...not getting old and frail. Do you never die? Are you always strong?"
--
"Ah, but see," he told her with a wink as he withdrew his nose from hers, "Arguements are sometimes, the way we show we care. I would never argue with someone I don't care about; if I argue, it means I care enough about what they think, to try and change their point of view, eh? There's nothing wrong with a healthy rivalry!" in fact, it was almost like a game, in a way!
His expression changed instantly as she mentioned she'd been attacked; a frown crossed his features, his ears flopping back against his orange hair; who the hell would so much as DARE attack a girl? That was SO not cool, "Hmph! It's a good thing I wasn't hear when you were attacked; I'd have made sure to turn the stupid morons into cubs upon sight! That's not nice; people need to learn to play nice and play fair!" a huff of air was released, indignant, almost as if he really couldn't believe the nerve of whomever it was had tried such a foul move.
Another pause followed and the expression slipped away, replaced by the almost characteristic tilt of his head, "It feels good; I'll never grow past this. I'll always remain young and carefree. I guess it comes with it's bad points, but I rather like it," he grinned then, "It allows me to do this," he against pushed his head forward, his nose touching hers, "Or this," and he pulled away, taking a step back to push the upper part of his body to the ground, in a clear indication he wished to play a childish game of tag with her, "Without remorse of shame."

She didn't seem to like his point. Why would she, brave, courageous, fighter girl Pelli want to like an immature little nuisance like Roko? Maybe...maybe because she was the only one who truly understood her? Maybe, deep down, she knew that she too was Roko though she was shying away from that part of her nature. Even still, maybe Silos' words did hold some truth. If she'd hated Roko that much she would have shunned the little voice deep away so as never to hear it.
"Healthy rivalry?" She gave a little shrug. "Who knows...maybe."
Then, seeing his reaction to the fact she had been attacked, she gave him a little smile. Those words had invoked a similar reaction in both Juuku and Bahari. Now she knew she could trust this one. He wouldn't hurt her like Mummy had. He'd be a friend and help protect her from that evil Goddess.
~Then why bother to become strong ourselves when there are others who, together, make us strong?~ A voice said silently in her head. But she dismissed it as another of Roko's useless observations.
"We'll get them back someday. Good and proper." She smiled sweetly and then watched as he answered her question. Her important question.
His answer came as a surprise. "Carefree?" It was a fantastic word, but could anyone truly be carefree forever? Even a cub, if it stayed a cub forever, would have something to worry about, right? Or maybe not. When she had been Roko she'd never worried about a thing. She'd taken each day as it had come, barely even considered the haunting figure of their mother. In fact she hadn't even remembered her past at all.
Then he was pressing his nose to hers again and her thoughts were focused back onto him again. Before she even knew what was happening he was stepping away and moving into play position. Something clicked in her brain and with a little giggle of joy she lowered herself too, growling playfully.
"Playing is good. But does it have to stop if we get older?"
--
"Hmmm... well, sibblings don't really have to like eachother to care about eachother. It's all kinna complicated, I guess," and even while still keeping the top part of his body pressed against the ground, the male managed a roll of his shoulders, clearly indicating a shrug, "Who knows?" he echoed her own words, as if really, that was simply the best way to explain the situation. What was this other 'girl' that was trapped inside her mind like? Who was she? Were they simply two sides of a same coin or were they two diferent souls?
Despite himself, Silos felt curiosity and a will to... stick around to find out. He'd hardly felt this intrigued about most others before; but then again, it wasn't every day that he met someone that was two in one. Oh, but her later words forced a slightly sad expression to come across his features, "Revenge? Is that what you want?" his ears flopped down before they perked eagerly again, "You know... revenge is never as sattisfying as people think it is. It ruins a game when there is a sore loser... even if the winner DID cheat. It's better to simply ignore it and find other players that are more suited. Revenge turns... good people into monsters, most of the time."
The smile returned as she seemed to accept his invitation to play, "Carefree, yeah," he paused briefly to concider her words and his lids hooded his eyes almost sweetly at her, "Nah. Adults can still have the will to play... it's just that they usualy lose sight of it in favour of other things."
--
She shifted closer.
"Turn into monsters?" She frowned a little at that. "We won't turn into a monster. We just want to make sure we can go around feeling safe. No one is going to hurt us again and the only way to be safe is to make those bad ones frightened." She was clearly sure of this. She remembered the fear she had felt of her mother, a fear that had driven her to cower and submit. A fear that had driven her to many years of imprisonment.
Rokopelli, in her current state, very much wanted to gain power and to make sure no one could ever hurt her again. She also wanted to make sure that those who did paid for it. She wasn't aware that this could be considered evil, that this would make her just as bad. It was all she knew.
"Wouldn't you want to get someone back if they hurtses you?"
Lost the will to play? As tough as she was on herself lately with practicing she also knew that one couldn't get stronger without play and relaxation. Why would any adult give up that one little joy? She shifted closer and moved to leap at him.
--
"Yes, but seeking revenge... lowers you down to their level," a small, sad smile appeared as he spoke, "If you want to be safe, the answer is not to harm those that harmed you first, but rather, to prevent others from harming you again. Fear.... is such a powerful tool, but in the end, it's not fear that's overwhelming, but friendship, and love and hope. If I had a friend, I would gladly save them, even if I were scared of the person attacking. Even if I were to be harmed, 'cause that's what friends are for!"
In the end, those were his thoughts, because only bullies used fear to gain safety; that was simply not the way, "Don't sink down to their level; I'm willing to bet you look so much more cute when you're smiling or pullinga prank than when you're scowling. It's better to make friends rather than enemies, don'tcha think?" in a way, that was probably why his powers were not destructive; he was usualy oposed to using them in any sort of destructive way, really... he liked to reward others with eternal youth. Not curse them with it. It was meant to be a reward... not something he did when he was angry and out of spite; while it WAS true he enjoyed turning overpowering lions into cubs, the effects were brief. Just long enough to earn them a lesson or two, "Nah," he told her with another smile, "I'd probably THINK about hurting them, but I wouldn't. Because... there's no fun in that. And that would make me just as evil as them. Best way to get back at those that hurt you is to be happier than them and enjoy life more than they do; while they're miserable, you are happy. Hurting them... won't make you happier."
As she aimed to leap at him, he let her crash against his form, rolling with her on the ground, reaching up to mock bite at her ears, "They say play is a good way to learn."
--
She followed through with the roll, smiling and lifting her head as far away as possible to try and keep his teeth from seeking purchase on her ears. He did have one point. She probably did look better with a smile and she did like smiling...but sometimes it wasn't always possible.
"But what if Mummy comes back to hurtses us?" She replied. "If we make her scared she won't ever come back and we can be free." If she didn't take that path then what was she supposed to do? "I can't love her."
But could she really?
Was there not the slightest trace of love left in her heart for the female that had birthed her. Despite all the pain her parent had brought she had given her life and she had given her the chance to learn her lesson.
But had she?
If she planned to use her powers to make people afraid of her, was that not as bad as when she'd misused them as a cub and...
She swallowed back the growing fear in her throat, not liking to doubt her own thoughts and plans. If she started to doubt then Roko would be back in control and she couldn't have that. She wouldn't be sealed away again. Not ever!
"Maybe she was right..." The goddess murmered. "Maybe we are evil."
--
THe god tried, for the life of him, to not feel horribly debastated by her words; there was childish innocence in them. He recognised it, and it broke his heart to learn it was the girl's own mother that had been trying to hurt her, out of all people. Rather than let the sadness show on his face, he reached up to nibble at what part of her he could before rolling off of her, tagging her side. It wouldn't do to ruin the end of the game just yet, "Well," he began as he trotted around her, preparing to pounce her riht back, "If you're worried about that... why don't you come with me? That way you won't have to scare her, or anyone. And they'll think twice before hurting you, because while they might be willing to snarl a girl, they might not be willing to take on the two of us. We've got age and youth on our side, don't we?" the sadness was in his eyes though, even despite the smile he offered her. How could a mother ever do such a thing? "No one's telling you to love her.... maybe she doesn't deserve your love. But.... I'm sure you do though. She's your mother, after all."
It was after she spoke again that he pounced on her; he didn't use all the force he could have, that much was obvious, and attempted to land on her comfortably without hurting her. Wether sucessful of not, silos reached up with his maw, "You're not evil, hon. No one that's evil can really have eyes like yours. You're naive, and innocent, which means people can use you in a bad way. That's one of the bad things of youth, but there's always pros, and cons to everything."
--
She watched him as he trotted around her, confused greatly by the emotions on his face. Was he sad with her? Was he dissapointed? A terrible feeling of guilt suffused her but she summoned her strength and pushed it away. Why would he care?
"With you?" She tipped her head, curious. "Why would you..." She trailed off and shook her head, confusion gleaming in her eyes. "We guess..."
At his words she felt tears gleam then. She was so full of different emotions that she didn't know what to think. Did she love her mother or hate her? Did she want to fight or did she want to...do nothing just like Roko had been telling her all of this time. What should she do? What should she do? She suddenly felt angry; as if she wanted to lash out, but then she looked up and saw that doing so would be a terrible, terrible thing.
But she was still confused.
She would always be confused.
And then he pounced her and a shaky smile returned despite that gleam of tears in her eyes. "Then...what should we do? Hide? If we stay with friends we might be safe but we wouldn't want anything to happenses to you or Juukie or Pele or Bahari or anyone we love."
--
"Because I like you," he told her bluntly, "Ain't that what friends are for? Friends help each other, do they not?" indeed, he was sad; he could not really remember his parents all that well, but he did know they had been loving and had treated him well before he'd had to part ways in order to play his role within the world around him. He had loved his siblings dearly too, and the idea of any of them, or his own mother to come after him and hurt him was beyond any reasonable thought.
He liked the way she thought, and he liked the innocence he could feel from her; he liked the fact she had not lost that special way younger minds thought... and at the same time, the idea of her lossing that was unappealing. Silos had previously thought that sticking with her would be amusing, so why not go ahead and propose such a thought forth? Specialy if there was an actual reason, other than for their own amusement (which was also another good reason anyhow).
"No need to hide, hon. You see... living life is all about taking risks, even if it means you might get hurt. If there's a friend there... he'll help you stand back up on your feet. Come with me; we can just walk," getting off of her, he reached down to nibble at her ear, giving it a small tug as he smiled, "No need to hide. Besides, I told you.... youth is on our side. My powers work on gods too you know, not only mortals," his small wings twitched on his back, eager at the notion of a new start, a new game, a new partner. It'd been a long while since he'd travelled with anyone, "You have a right to be happy too. Sometimes... it's not so bad to be confussed, so long there's someone there to help, don't you think?"
--
A friend.
She smiled and nodded, glad that she'd met him, glad that he hadn't been mean, glad that she hadn't been hated because of those...vengeful thoughts. But would she give them up completely, or would temptation be too much? If she ever met her mother what would happen? Would she truly do nothing? Or would she do what she had been planning to do, and kill her?
She hid these thoughts behind that smile and replied. "Okay, Silos, we think you're right, for now at least." She hugged her wings tightly to her sides as she stood, giggling as her ear was nibbled. They'd better not be all scraggly and ragged or else!
"Youth on our side?" She repeated. But it wouldn't always be...not with her in any case. One day she'd grow up and then what would happen?
She stepped closer to him, nodding fiercely. "Yes, yes you're right. You have smart wordses, Silos." She laughed. "We'll stick with you for a while then and see what happens." And with another playful growl she rushed past him, shoving him gently with her shoulder before spreading her wings and scrambling up into the air.
Silos was probably about to discover that flying wasn't her greatest talent...
--
For now.
That was better than nothing; perhaps he need not do anything and mayhaps... she would find her own way on her own while they travelled together. Maybe confussion was simply meant to be forever confussed, and then again, maybe confussion was just in need of someone to give her a little shove in the right direction; steer right whenever she turned left. If she was willing to travel with him and think that way for now, than he was willing to help her for as long as she wished him to.
"Aye, it is," he told her, "Let them come. I'll teach them a passive agresive lesson they'll never forget in this lifetime, m'sure," he had not missed the small, unspoken question on her part, for the time being... he decided to ignore it; he'd address that in due time, if she was still interested when the time came, "Hon, Youth'll always be on your side, 'cause I am.... and I represent it. I embody it, and that is my gift to you," she chose that moment to rush past him, and he laughed; a bark of laughter as, "Things will happen, tht's what; the first of which is that Imma tackle you into the next pond we find!" and this said, he spread is small wings (which by all laws of physics should not have been enough to lift his body two inches off the ground) and shoot up into the air after her.
