Frustrated and tired, the latter actually being rather unusual for her, the goddess had decided some time away from her pet project might be a good thing and a break from all her work an even better one. Just because she was the Goddess of Crafting didn't mean Sanaa needed to be making something every minute of everyday...

So that was why she was here, of all places, on a hilltop over looking a small human village. Ah, humans... they were better than apes, even, when it came to her worship, even if unintentional. Well placed illusions kept the inhabitants from noticing the large, golden, winged lioness bedecked in jewels on the hill outside the village and allowed the goddess to watch their comings and goings to her heart's content. They looked so small down there... their huts made of twigs that would snap easily under a glancing blow from one of her many wings, but how clever they were!

Green eyes shone with pride as they went about making things, something they did every day it seemed like. Baskets, huts, mats, jugs for water and platters for food... jewelry to decorate themselves with and effigies to worship. While not as much of a draw to Sanaa as felines like herself, she never tired of watching them and gleaning inspiration from their works.

So involved was she, and so confident in herself, the goddess failed to hold up her illusions for anything but the humans she watched, leaving her perfectly visible to anything else that really cared to look her way.

-It wasn't very often it occured... In fact... he couldn't recall anytime it'd happened within this current lifetime. And yet her he was, quite obviously being called to by something within a human village. Was it a human...? Or perhaps one of the creatures they seemed to keep pinned in that's soul cried out for the lion god? Confusion and unfamilar uncertainty touched the young god as he neared the village for the third time in the past day.

Were gods to show themselves to humans? He supposed he could... after all.. gods could do whatever they wanted. And yet... even if he showed himself, would he be able to help at all? Certainly he did not understand the strange sounds they made, and he doubted they'd understand him either.

Silently he cursed his powers, that he could be so bothered and pulled by someone's call, and as his eyes gazed out across the village, he spotted something different shimmering along the hillside.

Was is Boma perhaps? His mind thought back to the goddess of the underground earth, bedecked in shimmering gems. No... this one was much more golden. And those wings!

Pushing aside his thoughts and worries for the moment, he trotted off in direction of the glittering jewel, vain glorious 'darling' caring not to camofluage himself in the least. Bright bold feathers in fact standing and spreading outward in a glorious display.

She was watching the village too hmmm? Perhaps she could be of help.- "Why hello there!"

The intensity with which she studied a particular human working on the weaving of a basket was the intensity she usually only reserved for one of her own creations, so it wasn't surprising that she completely missed the approach of another god till he had spoken to her, standing like a great purple peacock at her side.

Sanaa started as her head whipped about, ears pressing back against her skull with the frown that creased her face. Ah, a male... well. He looked friendly enough, and he was wearing quite the lovely necklace around his throat, the silver of it well made. The fact that it and the bands around his forelegs seemed well care for was enough to calm the goddess a little and she let her muscles relax and her body recline against the grass again.

"Hello yourself, Brother." She replied formally, if a bit stiffly. Something about him... irritated her, but she could not say for sure what it was, so she dismissed it from her mind, preferring to focus on the things that did have an answer she could find. "Its a bit of good fortune that we both happened to wander here, isn't it? I so rarely see other gods, I didn't expect another to frequent this puny little human village." She gestured at the circle of huts with her nose, green eyes studying the male with something akin to the way she studied a problem she intended to fix.

Her leg of gold twitched a little as she stretched it out before her and she absently worked the machinery that made it move, stretching the toes and claws, till whatever it was that had shifted out of place popped back in with a small metallic click.

-His smile spread softly, hid body holding it's familiar and entirely unthreatening aire as the startled goddess' attention turned. And mildly he shifted, standing with grand regalness, and a mild flip of his ponytailed half mane as her eyes settled on to him more intently. Lim assumed it was simply admiration, for he was after all, quite the thing to look at, he was oblivious to the real reason behind her stare. And he acted accordingly, grinning charmingly, flicking his grape laden tail back and forth, not quite ready to sit just yet.

Her voice, and her words caught him mildly off guard, hitching his brow upwards for the shortest of moments. But his attention on the village, and now finally on the bizarre appendage soothed him once again. Silver eyes danced over the 'leg', not covered in fur at all, and yet it moved and shifted just as one did. Puzzled, he remained silently in thought for a moment over the foriegn object, before finally replying in a far more casual and airy way then she had.- "Good fortune yes. I've always loved company."

"As to the village.... I was drawn here. Not that the humans aren't an amusing enough sight from time to time."

-Ah.... His grin widened, eyes narrowing in a soft tease.- "Perhaps I was drawn here for you instead? Not for the village?" -It wasn't likely, but who didn't like to feel special?-

Unthreatening in stature he might be, but he still put her on edge. It might not have been such an odd thing to her, if she'd known who and what he was. After all... Sanaa was an all-buissness-no-play kinda girl and his easy nature smacked of her sister's... which in turn brought a frown to her face. Fikisha was playful and destructive, the opposite of her golden sister, so to find someone who reminded her of it made the goddess a little nervous. Fiki had a habit of making all of her careful constructed things just fall apart with a touch, to Sanaa's eternal consternation. Not that the goddess of crafting had seen her sister in over a century...

The golden goddess was a little gruff when she spoke again, reminded of too many things that weren't useful in anyway. "Drawn here?" She murmured, catching sight of him eyeing her leg. It was a masterful bit of work and she was rather proud of it, subtly extending and turning it to its best advantage for his admiration. "I was drawn too, but I rather doubt its for the same reason... you don't strike me as someone interested in the objects the humans are making down there." She eyed his moderate jewelry, which he most likely only wore for decoration, unlike the multitude of strings and ropes and dangling bits that hung from every available part of her.

Her eyes narrowed though, when she finally took note of the feathers arrayed behind his head. One in particular was very familiar, as Sanaa never forgot something she'd once made. "I occurs to me that you know a friend of mine, Brother. Ubuge? She brought me one of your feathers, you know."

-Flies with honey, not salt. His attitude and voice remained pleasant and cheerful as was like him, and he paused for a moment to think over her question. What the humans were making? He hadn't really thought about it. Eyes averting for a moment, to settle once more on the village, he offered simply.- "It could be interesting to see, and to watch ." -For awhile atleast. Perhaps it would get boring in time. It depended on the day, on the mood, for he was a fickle and flighty god.

As if defending himself, he added mildly.- "Besides, I find far more things entertaining then most do. Part of the domain I suppose, finding pleasure and enjoyment in almost everything."

-His mood excited softly, as the familiar name sounded, a momentary devilish smirk of teeth appearing only to hide themselves once more. Ubuge... He certainly remembered her.- "Ahhhh, yes. I know her, in fact, I probably should visit her again one of these days. It's been far too long."

-Feathers ruffling mildly as if they knew the topic was on them, he purred.- "I traded her something nice for it." -And yet... even from their short friendship is seemed strange the goddess of Greed would part with anything. And a soft pang of self conciousness touched him. Had the goddess something Ubuge had deemed 'better' to trade for his feather? Curiousity had the better of him.- "She gave it to you did she?"

Ah, that's right, she remembered now... The black goddess had said the god the feather came from was the god of Pleasure... and looking him over now, she could well believe it. She felt a mild interest in him, but for her, pleasure came in the things she made, not in the flesh of another creature.

"I suppose... I would find them quite dull, if not for the interesting things they do with those long appendages on their front paws." She chuckled, her green eyes glittering.

"Ubuge and I are long standing friends, as it seems you also are with the goddess of Greed. Our domains are not so unrelated, I suppose. We suit each other. You, though... I wonder." The thought of a trade for the feather made her wonder what Ubuge would consider worth the price of a feather, something Sanaa herself found irresistible. The nervous sound of his voice drew her attention and she shifted where she lay, lifting an eyebrow.

"For a time, she did." She murmured. "But when I was finished with it, I gave it back to her, in return for a favor. I made quite a lovely circlet of it... and the power it held, ah! Truly splendid." A dreamy sort of smile curved over her face, something one would expect over a lover or a child, not a trinket.

-Again he found his eyes diverting, straining to take in the mentioned source of interest. Much more like bird claws they were. And yet, nowhere near as interesting as what this goddess herself had for a paw. The chuckle however raised his spirits further, and now finally he let his back end settle to the earth.- "New friends actually. But it is a strong bond so the time doesn't matter that greatly."

-It was a bond of her domain, perhaps transfixed upon him when they'd met, but more likely a result of his irresponsibility. The two were bonded by greed and want, her want to own him and his desire to delight in her, one simple taste and that was all it had taken. What was this goddess then? He oblidged her with an introduction.- "Well then, friend of a friend. I'm Limbuko, god of pleasure."

-Ahhhhh he could feel it! The absolute delight and ecstacy pouring from her soul. It filled him like sunshine, and another purr escaped him whistfully.- "You make things then? Like jewelry? What talent!" -Surely his paws could perform no feat of such dexterity.-

"I think we are quite alike! You must view the grand beauty of the world to be able to shape and create things of beauty, no?"

Sanaa nodded as she listened to him, watching him glance at the humans. Well, she didn't expect him to have the same interests she did, really. She rather doubted any of the other gods saw the humans the way she did. Had they been feline as she was, or had she been humanoid, they might have been her favored creatures... She shrugged that off as an impossibility and dismissed it.

"Its a... pleasure to meet you, Limbuko. I am Sanaa, goddess of Crafting." She smiled at the pun of it, her tail twitching against the ground as she rose to sit as well, affording him that respect even though she was an intimidating lioness for even adult male gods. Size came with the domain, of course, and strength.

"I do make jewelry and lovely decorations, but I make much, much more as well. Its really not a matter of seeing the world or something as beautiful... more like I see the beauty of its potential, of the perfection it could be. That is what I use to guide me in my craft, after all. There is beauty only in perfection, I think... in something so utterly suited to its purpose there is no flaw, no change I could make to it..." Her eyes misted a little, thinking on it.

"Sanaa..." -He practiced the word on his tongue gently, letting it sink into his mind as he watched her rise to his level, admiring all the details he'd before missed. He was so tiny in build, like a mortal lioness or young male, and she was so large and bright. Her wings in three glittering hues framed her striped golden pelt. And the many items and baubles that lay scattered about her, much as he recalled like Ubuge, clacked and rubbed a beautiful melody to his ears. Surely she was a stunning goddess! And a passionate one at that.

He listened intently as she spoke of the things she loved and enjoyed, feeling a mildly unwarrented sense of pride, as if he'd done something more then merely exisist to allow for such incredible feelings to flow through her.- "The beauty of potential?" -A rhetorical musing obviously, he quickly pondered over, and accepted the idea. Indeed that was something that could be beautiful.

It was here however that her view diverted. Perfection was such a fickle thing.. And in fact, he was of the notion that for something to be perfect it must be imperfect in some way, else it be too rigid to ever enjoy or even take part of. Could anything be completely perfect? He was smart enough to keep his ponderings inside however, longing more for pleasant conversation then debate, so instead his words turned to curiousity.-

"What other sort of things can you make then? Could I see them?"

The goddess's ears twitched as he spoke her name, finding it a strange sensation from his mouth. Perhaps it was merely his domain affecting her, but it sent a strange thrill down her spine, much like when she found herself hot on the trail of a major break through on a project.

Her wings shifted as she caught him eyeing them and her many strands of jewelry, suddenly self conscious over them. Did he find them pleasing? Were there too many, or not enough? It made her feel rather strangely, when she'd never worried about her own appearance in such a way.

When he asked about the things she made, she was all too willing to take up the new topic.

"I make things to wear, things to hold other things, things to protect a body from attack or to inflict greater damage when attacking. Things to camouflage and to stand out... There is nothing I can't make!" She boasted as she spread her wings and lifted her legs to let him view what she wore, though the thought occured to her that there was one thing she had yet to make... "Well... almost nothing. But that I shall remedy soon enough, when I figure out the nuances of it." She said with a confident nod.

-If he noticed the subtle changes in the goddess he didn't seem to show it, instead trying to digest her comment. So many things! Of such a a wide range. How very useful and amazing. Silent as he may have been, his awe was clear upon his face.- "You must practice alot. And have quite a few mortals and gods alike seeking you out for help."

"You're a quite amazing goddess." -He concluded finally, matter of factly. His judgement was made. Creator of tangible treasures, it was so different from so many of the gods and goddess' he'd met in his time.

He admired her clearly when she lifted herself once more, finding no faults like she worried he might. Letting his feathers finally settle to rest behind him, his ears perked in soft curiousity.- "Oh? I'm sure if you practice enough you'll figure out how to make that last illusive thing."

"Perhaps I can even be of help?" -He probably wouldn't be able to do much.... other then find someone else experienced to ask.. another god or something. But nonetheless he offered, quite certain that the sheer pleasure she would radiate upon his success would be well worth the troubles.-

Brown tipped ears pressed back as Sanaa thought about that one thing she was as yet unable to do... it was a source of near constant irritation in her life, when she couldn't bury herself in her work. At least Limbuko admired her things... what more could she ask of another? She nearly preened under the attention, making sure to offering him a view of everything she wore.

"You flatter me, Limbuko, truly. I work hard at what I do and I take pride in it. There is just... that one thing." She grumbled, her eyes focused inward. "For centuries I have sought it and every attempt I make ends in utter failure!" The goddess hissed in irritation and anger at herself.

"What sort of goddess am I, able to crafting anything, but one? And if you could truly help me with it, well... My thanks would know no bounds, there would be no price too great to pay for it." Her face near glowed with her fervent words.

"The one thing I have not be able to find the formula to make... is life itself. Creatures exist, therefore, they should be able to be made... and yet, the how of it alludes me!"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:52 pm

"Well... one does always have to strive and try for better I think. There is no shame in improving and learning, in fact that is half the fun isn't it?"

-His expression softened some sympathetically as her attitude turned, trying silently to shift it back to that pleasant happiness he'd found before. Strange creature she was... like a mix of Sheba and himself. So serious.. and yet so passionate and full of life and opinion. Instinctively he drew nearer to were she sat, for many upset creatures often felt soothed by the heat of another at their side.

He listened carefully for the offending item, brows and maw drawing up mildly as it finally sounded. Life? Create life? From a formula? Was that even possible? Could one make a gazelle pop into exsistance? Even if you had materials, how would one even begin to put them together? To create it from nothing at all seemed an unsermountable task, until the sudden realization hit him. Life was created all the time. By mortals and gods... lions and humans.. birds and grasses. It really wasn't that simple was it.. that really couldn't possibly be what she meant, could it?

Cautiously he spoke, testing his thought on the golden goddess.- "You do not know how life is made out here in the savannahs? It is a trick both mortals and gods alike know. If that's all you wish for really. To create life out of nothing, I can help you. In fact, I can help you forge the gods of the future." -Oh so noble he sounded, and perhaps his intentions really really that noble and good.-

Sanaa blinked and frowned at Limbuko, nearly scowling now.

"You lie... If every creature in existence can do it, why can't I? I've searched for the way, built countless prototypes, and none of them achieved true life. How can something as lowly as a mortal do it? No, you must be mistaken." The goddess sighed in exasperation as she settled back and turned her face away from him, nearly seething that he would so get her hopes up, only to dash them against the rock of logic like an egg.

For all her great knowledge, Sanaa really new more about machinery than the workings of her own body, or the biological functions of the universe. It had never occurred to her that the answer she sought lay other than in what she could touch with her paws, mold and shape to her desires. She knew little about how bodies functioned and had never really cared to learn.

"You're unkind to say things like that to me, Limbuko." She growled, her tail switching.
