Walker was inside Durem's Public Library; it was enormous, but then, Durem was also a fairly large city. So of course it would have at least one decent library. He wandered the aisles, browsing through the multitude of titles lining the shelves, several books covered in a thin layering of dust.

His hands were stuffed in his pockets, and he cast a glance behind him for the briefest of moments just to double check that the kid was still there. Granted, he was invisible to everyone except Walker, but still. The baby was looking around at the books in wide eyed interest, though he was remaining surprisingly quiet for a brat.

He sighed, turning back to look in front of him and just hoping the jail-bait would get here soon. Walker was fairly certain he'd be around here somewhere, since he felt the albino's energy approaching this direction.

Thankfully for the trickster, Walker wouldn't be left waiting for much longer. Gil had just stepped in through the front doors, checking his watch to see what time it was before wandering into the multitude of towering bookshelves. He had agreed to meet a friend there, but he was a bit early and had some time to himself to explore. Hopefully, nothing would interfere with the scheduled appointment, because the albino really needed some help with everything that had been going on...

It had been about a week now since Gil was bailed out of that cramped little holding cell in the Aekea Police Station, but things had definitely not settled down completely in that miniscule span of time. Things were still being hammered out with the courts, and at this rate, the albino would be stuck testifying before the judge without having any idea of what he was doing. At least the station had managed to contact his psychiatrist and get him an emergency supply of medication, because by god it would not be fun to endure a court session in an unstable state of mind.

Deciding that he might as well occupy himself until Miranda (a godsend like none other he knew) arrived, the youth began browsing through the fiction section, pulling out titles that looked interesting to examine them further. Soon enough, he had lost himself in a tiny pocket novel--a twist on a classic "knight-rescues-princess" fairy tale. Actually, maybe while he was here, he could check out some picture books for Peach, too.

Walker looked in the direction of the entrance, feeling the albino enter the library finally. He moved at a relaxed pace in the direction he had gone, and it took him only a moment to find Gil. He was standing between two large shelves of fiction books, apparently quite engrossed in one novel, to the point he didn't react when Walker approached him, a smirk on his face as he slipped his hands in his pockets, putting another sort of silence barrier around the aisle, so their voices wouldn't carry at all.

See? Walker was considerate. The other library-goers now wouldn't be bothered by the crazed screaming of a psychotic albino. He had a heart after all. Kind've.

"Enjoying the book?" He asked, breaking the silence with the arrogant, crooked smile on his face, his green eyes gleaming softly in the dimmed library light.

There was a moment where Gil simply stared at Walker. And stared. And stared. It was almost as if the albino didn't quite recognize the person in front of him, despite being certain of having seen him before. Slowly, though, he began to recall a particular encounter from a week ago in a lonely cell in the middle of the night...

Oh s**t it's him--

Before he could stop himself, the youth's arm whipped forward, violently flinging the book he was holding at Walker's head. Oh s**t oh god oh what did I just do. The resulting expression on Gil's face was a hilariously contorted mix of pissed off and, for lack of a better way to put it, "oh s**t". Well, if he wanted to get arrested again, this time for battery and assault...

Walker would have started laughing as he had a week before, but instead, he disappeared without a sound. The book fell harmlessly on the floor, sliding across the carpet and stopping at the end of the aisle.

As for Walker, well, let's just say there was a sudden tap on Gil's shoulder.

"You missed me." He said softly in the albino's ear, a smirk still present on his lips, a silent edge of laughter in his voice as he prepared to pop back in front of Gil should he swing out to hit, or something just as violent.

"You should just be glad I'm in a nice mood today, and don't feel like contacting the police with a report of assault." Walker said, his crooked grin widening ever so slightly.

There had been one split secod where Gil was positive that he must have been seeing things, that somehow his medication had failed him and he had just inexplicably chucked a book at thin air...

Until he heard a voice right by his ear. Feeling the hair on the back of his neck stand on end, the albino practically shot up through the ceiling in surprise as he turned his head to find Walker's bright green eyes staring right back at him. His lips curled up to bare his teeth as if in preparation to bite, but he hesitated at the trickster's mention of the police. Still gritting his teeth, Gil hissed quietly, "What do you want?"

Walker let a laugh rumble out of his throat, taking a step back and waving a hand in the air as if to clear away a bad smell. "Pish posh, always straight to the point, are you? Well then, since you're so eager to cut the chase, I'll let it out. Remember what I told you last week, when you were oh-so-unfortunately stuck in that comfy little jail cell?"

He leaned against one of the book cases, his arms folded across his chest as he watched the albino with a look of amusement on his face.

Again Gil paused to consult his memories, still keeping a wary eye on Walker as he did so. A lot had happened while he was in that cell, but all of it while the albino was quite off his rocker. "...You gave me that ticket," he finally recalled, before belatedly remembering that the item was still in the pocket of the jeans he was wearing... which had gone through the wash since that night. Whoops. "...And you said I should be expecting a surprise. One with a tail," he added suspiciously. "Are you going to turn that ticket into a kid? Because it's still in my pocket, you know, and that seems a bit much even for a guy like you." Moreso than than the green-eyed man's threats and bewildering abilities, Gil was growing somewhat disturbed at how easily this guy managed to provoke him. He was already feeling himself becoming agitated and aggressive again...

He started laughing, waving his hand in the air. "Psh, no. Definitely not. I'm not one of those people that turns inanimate objects into brats." Walker's smile widened to the point it didn't quite seem possible, the edges of his lips curling up in a way very similar to the Grinch's devilish grin. "I'm the kind that just dumps brats on whoever I feel like."

At this point, Walker's eyes almost seemed to glow in the light of the library, as the apparent form of a baby materialized in front of Gil, wrapped in a blanket and looking at him with curious green eyes.

"Enjoy."

And with that, Walker simply disappeared. Though if Gil were to look, he'd see a paper card floating down to the floor, with the address of a certain run-down bar scribbled on it.

Gil shouldn't have been surprised. He really shouldn't have. After all, he'd pretty much called Walker out on what he had been implying--but he hadn't expected to be right about it! Not to mention that this baby he was holding was--

...Oh, oh god. It was fuzzy. And it had pointy ears. And big green eyes. And... whiskers? Seriously, whiskers? The albino had a feeling that Walker was a sick b*****d, but this... THIS was just...

Oh, god, how was he going to explain this to Miranda? How was he going to explain this to Az?

Making noise for the first time since the trickster had handed him over, the baby gurgled as he craned his head up to look at Gil. He didn't know who this strange red-eyed person was, but he looked awfully troubled. Good thing Baron Humbert von Gikkingen was here--solving troubles was what he did best! "Pthbhpthbhpth," was his articulate proclamation of the fact.

"..." Kneeling down carefully to pick up the business card, Gil barely gave it a cursory glance before stuffing it in his pocket. He needed to sit down and get his thoughts together before Miranda arrived, so that he could explain... well, explain this.

"Thbpghg!"

Bundle of joy, indeed...
