Talking with the other lioness a few days ago had helped Layilme a little bit, but the dark lioness was still very much ... in the dumps. She'd lost all of her family - mate and cubs, didn't know where any of them were. And she was more than half convinced that all of it was somehow her fault.

She and Mor'faerion should have stayed together to search for Farai, she should have watched him closer... should never have had that night with Ari. And then she should have known and should have kept a better watch over the cubs from that...

Gods... she was such a failure.

The trail that the pair had been walking down had been very quiet for the last few days, no sign of any other communicative creatures for them to stop and keep with company, and it made it ever so little more lonesome for the two of them. Originally it had just been Theluji, walking away from her home - a slightly colder place than what she was now getting used to, her longer fur reflecting the midday sun. It had only been by fluke that she met the little grey canine that walked beside her as a companion.

As she mulled internally, the small voice of said companion piped up, alerting her back to reality.
"Theluji, there seems to be someone else around here." The little one said, before pointing her nose towards a slightly enclosed area, in which was occupied by a very dark lioness, whom she had never met. Clear eyes widened at the rare life in front of her, but there was something wrong with this sight, it seemed.. saddening.

Slowly walking towards the dark female, her voice meekly called out into the clearing, small canine pawfalls sounding almost silently behind her. "H-hello, are you okay over there?"

Layilme jumped just slightly, having been lost in her own thoughts. But it wasn't really a very pleasant place to be, so she was almost glad for the distraction.

"Ah... h-hello..." she replied, sitting up a bit. "I ... not really," she answered the question then, eyeing the smaller of the two. She'd not ever seen one of ... whatever she was before.

The reaction that the lioness received made her raise her eyebrows and perk up ever so slightly, this was not what she expected, but she attempted to play it cool. Confusion melted away into her normal warm smile, before testing the boundary between her and the older lioness by taking a few steps further, the sound of tiny footfalls behind her telling her that her companion was walking in her steps.

"What seems to have you bothered so, miss?" she finally piped up, hoping it sounded sincere, her curiousity, and wonderment perking up, and her conscience telling her to assist the 'wounded'. "Ro and I don't have very much to do or go to, so we're willing to hear you out, right?" she asked, before looking at the canine that was hovering around her back legs, eyes begging for assurance.

Large blue eyes looked up to the lioness, but it didn't take a genius to understand the small jackal. She was, admittedly, a little curious about the new creature in their little personal bubble, so with a small nod of her head, Ro kept her mouth shut, and let her partner do the talking for now - a small lick of primal fear keeping her voice deep within her throat.

Layil shook her head slightly at the two, gaze darting from one to the other. "I ... really shouldn't burden anyone else with my troubles," she said softly - head hanging just a bit.

She knew that all the others she had met were only trying to help, really. But still...

(A year later.)

This was a lioness with problems - big problems - Theluji thought. As her face softened up a little, she gave a headshake in the lioness' direction. "We're not bothered, I think it would do you good, my dear - you look like you have a lot on your plate, and need to just come out with it." she murmred, a smile showing on her face.

"I bet you'll feel a little better, come on." she egged lightly, showing her interest.

(( XDD Is okay! <3 ))

Layilme winced slightly and sighed. "I suppose ... if you really want to know..." she murmured slowly.

"The thing is... I'm a terrible mother..."

Swiveling her ears, Theluji took a seat in front of the troubled female, her partner taking to her side with her own pair of blue eyes watching with interest.

"Why do you say that?" She queried, a small tinge of skepticism in her voice, "You don't look like the kind who would be terrible in anything. What happened?" This was getting interesting - she wanted to know more of this lioness' past. Something had to have happened to make this beautiful lioness fret so much.

Layilme bit at her lip, obviously trying to figure out how to phrase things and ... perhaps at the same time, trying not to start crying.

"Well, I ... First ... my son was stolen away from me..." she started, ears lying flat against her head. "I should have watched him more closely... should have ... been able to do something..."

Ah. this was much more serious than she expected. She had assumed it was something light like having problems with a cub or two with attitudes. This was deep - but she was ready for it.

Lowering her ears, she lowered her head and tilting it to one side, a sense of sympathy graced her face and voice. "Oh, I - I'm sorry." she started, trying to find the words. "I'm sure it will be fine. There's not much you could have done - I'm sure if he doesn't blame you." She tried to soothe.

"Are you looking for him?" She wondered outloud - even if the answer was as obvious as the sun's light.

The dark lioness nodded at that, somehow grateful for the other female's sympathy, even if perhaps it should have annoyed her. So many felt sorry for her... but in some small way, it helped.

"Yes... but .. that's not all. I'm also a ... a horrible mate..." she half-whispered - somehow now looking even more depressed than before.

Theluji couldn't help but canter her head a little, eyebrows raised high in curiousity. This lioness had a story to tell, and she was only giving it in fractions. Clearing her throat, and looking down at her familiar to gauge her own reaction for a moment - one that showed as much shock and yet wonder as she herself probably reflected, she turned back to the lioness, and extended a warm glance to, before resting back on her haunches.

"You look like you have a story to tell, miss. I think it may make you feel better if you let it all out." She murmured, not trying to drive her off with her wonderment.

"Maybe we could help you if we have the ability." piped up from below, as the jackal finally voiced her opinion once again, only to be reflected in the lioness' actions.

Layilme bit at her lip slightly, staring at the ground as she tried to figure out where to even -start-. "I ... well. After my son was stolen, my mate and I separated to look for him..." She paused and swallowed, obviously coming to the difficult part.

"A little while ago I met... a-another male, a really nice guy. We talked a bit but then... instead of leaving like I should have ... I stayed with him that night. I ... we ..." She trailed off then, sure that the meaning was clear by this point.
