Lily Philantha loved weekends. It was really the only two days of the week that she willingly woke up early. The curtains to the apartment would be pulled back for the morning sun to slip its gentle hands under, caressing the carpet with a warm, golden glow. The one cat she owned greedily took the opportunity to get some good quality sun napping in, while Lily herself would sit on the couch with breakfast at hand. Just because she was pale enough to glow in the dark didn't mean she couldn't appreciate the sun.

This weekend, however, began with a bit more rush. Having awoken to an empty box of cereal, Lily found herself abruptly having the desire for cinnamon rolls. The kind you pop out of a can and dribble cream on when they come fresh out of the oven, the sweet aroma that would waft through the air and fill the entire apartment. Containing her drool, Lily made her way to the front door and pulled on her brown jacket. With wallet at hand, she began the treacherous journey of the whole five minute walk down the street and to the grocery store.

Safely arriving to the front doors of the grocery store, Lily realized she probably should have checked their pantry status. It was likely running low by now, so she reached out for a basket and prepared to gather a few extra materials. First stop was to the cinnamon rolls, of course. The last can sat all alone on the shelf, just begging to be bought. A plea of which she would willingly answer.

Delucca Sunday did not put particular store in weekends besides them being household chore days. The days when she did the laundry or cleaned her usually pretty tidy apartment. Or, in this case, do her grocery shopping.

It could be said that Delucca's usual clothing was neat, attractive and casual. She was almost always seen in jeans and t-shirts and nice shoes. That was, except on the weekends. On such days, when doing her little homey tasks, she didn't consider it worth dressing nice in going out. That, and usually she shopped for groceries while her laundry was in so all that was clean was usually what she currently wore - low slung, loose pajama bottoms and a tight tank top that showed her midriff. The fact that she could wear it shopping when her real clothes were being cleaned was the only reason she even kept the damn shirt but that's another matter.

Lightly pushing her cart through the aisles, the striped woman, rainbow dreads hanging down her back, looked rather bizarre. Particularly wearing nothing but those light pink pj bottoms, white tank, and a pair of worn hot pink bunny slippers. Her current travels led her right past Lily and the last thing of cinnamon rolls.

Movement out of the corner of Lily's eye instantly rose all warning instincts. Her cinnamon rolls were in danger?

"No!" She yelled out, before even realizing that she was yelling out. Lily stared at the woman before her, shock vibrating through her. The woman had outlandishly colorful hair, wearing what could very well have been what she had just slept in.

"Er, that is.." Racing thoughts narrowly avoided collision as she ferociously tried to think of a cover story, "Oh no, I forgot.. to give my cat water." She laughed nervously, inching closer to the cinnamon rolls, "Didn't mean to yell. You know how cats are I'm sure. Always so demanding and such."

Most would say she was overreacting, but Lily was much too flustered to bother thinking straight, "H-have any pets yourself?" Wait, what if the colorful woman hated pets? What if she took the cinnamon rolls in revenge for bringing forth a forbidden topic? She gripped the basket and tried smiling warmly.

Delucca stared at this very very bizarre person for a few moments, her jaw half open in disbelief, one eye squinted and her other half-lidded, the eyebrow above it raised.

"Um........what?" she finally got out after a few moments of trying to figure out what the hell just happened. "Lady, you're really strange. I'm going to the end aisle to get cheese, why are you asking me about pets?"

Really, she had to wonder if having rainbow hair and an unnatural complexion screamed "HAY ASK ME RANDOM QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THINGS THAT DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE IN PRESENT CONTEXT! biggrin " The only thing Delucca could reason out happening was the chick in front of her was feeling quite protective of her container of cinnamon roll makings. Though, she wasn't quite sure why - Miss Sunday had never much been a fan of those, working in a cafe and having to serve them a lot, and she hadn't shown any interest in wanting the package. So what gave?

"Cheese..?" Lily blinked, leaning back on her heel to catch site of the vivid yellow wrappings. She gave a light laugh that mixed of embarassment and relief. Firmly setting the cinnamon roll can into the basket, she felt much safer with her target acquired.

"Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to surprise you any." Feeling much more relaxed, she gave a warm smile, "I was just juggling around a few thoughts and sometimes I blurt things out. I hope I didn't offend you."

Guilt nibbled the edges of her mind, insisting that Lily feel obligated to make up for it, though she really had no idea how to do so with a stranger.

"It's okay. I wasn't offended. Just really really confused." the dreaded woman said, nodding slightly as she spoke, her expression not changing from the slight look of disbelief she'd had on. After a moment or two, she shook her head and straightened her features but damn that was weird.

"I suppose I can be rather confusing at times." Lily gave another chuckle, shaking her head at her own antics. Still wanting to show some form of apology, sharp blue eyes caught sight of the corner of the grocery store. Like many chain stores these days, this one had it's own mini-sections inside such as the bakery or baked foods such as the Chinese or chicken. The food was probably sub-par compared to any restaurant, but it was good for a quick bite.

"Would you like a cup of coffee or tea or something? My treat, as an apology for all the energy so early in the morning." The last thing Lily wanted was to be leaving the grocery store on a Saturday morning with the weight of having duly given a random person the impression that she was thoroughly crazed.

Not, of course, that protecting cinnamon rolls was cause for such illusions as being insane. It was only natural to protect them, afterall.

"Nah. I'm around coffee and tea too much all week. I like being able to be sleepy in the morning two days of the week." the woman explained, shaking her head somewhat. "You really don't have to do anything for me. I just wanted to get my groceries and be on my way."

Since when did one have to apologize and treat a person for making them think you're crazy? If that became a law, Delucca had a lot of people to treat. Half of the people she walked by on the street tended to think she was insane. That'd get expensive after a while.

Seemingly not noticing the subtle hint to move on and let the woman be, Lily nodded and lightly wrinkled her nose, "Yeah, I'm not actually all that fond of coffee either. Caffine in general doesn't do much for me, though I do rather enjoy those caffine free teas. What was it.. hibiscus I think?" She gave a short shrug, "Sounds right anyways. It's supposed to be a tea that helps put you to sleep, but doesn't seem like it does. Rather pleasant taste though, especially if you put in a bit of milk and sugar."

Lily paused in thought for brief moment, then continued on, "Do you work in a place that sells coffee and tea, since you're around it all week?"

Wow. A coherent question that made sense with the conversation. Go you, Lily!

"Yes. I'm a waitress at the cafe Sparkle Till Wednesday. It's found in and about Durem." the woman explained, glancing around the area shelves to see if there was anything she needed. After all, if this chick was so insistent on detaining her, she might as well see if she needed anything there while she was at it. Anything but cinnamon rolls, anyway.

"Oh, it sounds adorable." Lily smiled, though knowing Durem's darker alley ways it probably wasn't shaped like a giant pink cupcake, "I work on the isle up north, so I don't go to Durem all that often. Is being a waitress hard?"

Not, of course, that the isle had much luck of its own. Epedimic outbreaks, fires and explosions, falling buildings.. But that was all in the history. Resuming a slow pace, Lily kept by the colorful woman while keeping a lazy eye out for any other groceries she felt was needed. She briefly pondered on asking for her name, but eventually decided against it. It was unlikely that they'd actually meet again, considering she had never seen her at the grocery store before.

"Eh, not particularly. But the hours I work tend to make me value as much extra sleep as I can get. I usually end up doing my laundry and shopping at all sorts of odd hours of the day because of it." Delucca commented with a shrug.

Unlike Lily, Delucca's only reason for not asking the woman's name was the fact that she was too out of it to really care.

"Goodness, must be hectic hours." Lily sympathized, "Thankfully I have a set schedule at my job so I'm able to get a pattern going. Makes it a bit mundane though. At least you get to interact with a variety of people. That must be interesting at least."

Interesting stories were hard to come by these days. The most epic stories she got recently was probably by way of renting movies. With halloween being the next holiday coming up, however, she was looking forward to a few more thrills.

"What kind of stories do you hear?" Her curiosity was piqued too much not to ask.

"Eh, all sorts. Most of my customers aren't even comprehensible till they've had their second round. Luckily I'm adept in speaking 'not yet awake'." she answered with a shrug, wondering vaguely if she should point out this lady that they still didn't know each other and were kind of in the middle of shopping. "You know, if you wanted to talk, I haven't got a problem with that but we're kind of blocking the aisle and you seemed to want those rolls pretty badly."

Lily chuckled, nodding her head sympathetically, "Sounds like you usually have a morning shift then, eh?"

Blinking, Lily looked around, then back at the rainbow haired woman. At least it seemed like she cared for others' wellbeing, "Most people are sleeping in since its a weekend, but duly noted." She took a step to the side to make room in the aisle, then patted her basket with the cinnamon roll can already in it, "I suppose I should let you finish your shopping then?"

It had been an interesting encounter, at least. She still had no idea what the woman's name was, but with as vast as the world was, what were the chances of meeting again? Lily gave a pleasant smile, nodding her head once before shuffling back a few steps. The rest of the shopping could come later. First, her cinnamon rolls had a date with an oven.
