YIM pre-rp Esmeralda: -purrs at him- Balthier: *eyes her and smirks*Esmeralda: Hello there big boy. Balthier: And what does that make you? How about absolutely gorgeous?Esmeralda: -chuckles softly, almost-dancing towards him, making her skirt twirl and sway- What's your name, Silver-tongue? Balthier: *purrs softly, smirking still* My name is Balthier, and even though I'm a sky pirate... you m'lady have about stolen my heart...Esmeralda: We gypsies tend to do such things. -smiles and lowers her head slightly- I am Esmeralda. Balthier: My, My. It was definately a good idea to land here... *eyes her over quickly*Esmeralda: I'm sure there are less dangerous parts you could land in though. -looks over her shoulder quickly, a worried look coming across her face- I'm afraid if you were seen with me by these resident lions we'd both be killed. Balthier: *grows serious* Kill us? Now why would they want to hurt one such as yourself? Now I can understand killing me... *chuckles lightly*Esmeralda: Because I am a gypsy. We steal, we lie, we sin; or so they say. We're just thorns in their paws. -shrugs- No matter. They haven't the wits to catch us. No imagination. Isn't that right Djali? Djali: -emerges from the folds in her skirt and squeaks, nodding his little head and causing his earring to jiggle back and forth-Balthier: You really are a lady after my heart... it is truely hard to steal such a thing froma sky pirate. I steal, I lie... I'm am pretty sure I've sinned... but I'm still alive. *smirks then eyes the mouse* Well, at least you have your companion. I lost mine somewhere in the journey here...Esmeralda: -smiles at his words and looks back at Djali- It is unwise to travel without a companion in these parts. Djali is my best friend. The only one I can truly trust out here. They say we lie, but they'll say anything to burn us alive. Balthier: *eyes the mouse again* Maybe I'd be lucky enough to have companions such as yourselves for just a little longer? It would be nice to meet others... I have only met one lion upon my landingEsmeralda: It would be my pleasure, Balthier. I would never turn down the opportunity to be in the company of a male like yourself. Balthier: *bows his head slightly* Well, Esmerelda, I would love to accompany you... wherever it is you are going... *smiles softly*

Balthier, the sky pirate. Well, so much for a sky pirate now. His four paws restricted how much he could do, losing the whole oposable thumbs kind of sucked but there wasn't anything he could do about it. Looking out the corner of his eye he watched the lioness that walked beside him and all he could really think about was the other lioness he had met earlier. Already there was such a difference between the two.
Balthier and Esmerelda had been walking for a while now and he had filled her in on what he life had been like before coming to exsistance here and now his mind was filled with questions and thoughts.

Esmeralda stayed in close step with the sky pirate, her ears perked and listening intently. He had such an interesting life before this. She could hardly imagine what would bring him here, where everyone lacked imagination and a sense of freedom. He was certainly a hard soul to figure out. She liked that about him.
As things grew silent she watched as his expression slowly changed. She could practically see the questions swarming in his head and knew it must be killing him to keep them locked up. "What is on your mind, Sky Pirate?" She purred softly.
Djali sat on his companion's shoulder, frowning in disgust at the purring and the oh-so-friendly story telling. He was trying to impress her, trying to wrap her around his disgusting little paw. But Djali was smug, he knew all would fail, for his Esmeralda, she was a free spirit. She would not be bound to this male, he knew.

"Hmm?" He said quietly as his gaze came back to the present, no longer as distant as before. "My mind? Plenty of things acutally." His usual smirk came to rest on his lips and he shot the mouse a wary look and returned his eyes to Esmerelda.
"I was thinking of a lioness I met before you, she was... different. Clothed like us, as I have seen many who don't wear a thing, but she could control magic like myself... I was wondering what she was doing and how I had come to be walking with you, rather close to her borders..." He said honestly, the distant look coming back to his eyes.

Esmeralda tilted her head slightly. She'd not met this lioness on her previous wandering around this land, and thankfully so. Magic was a dangerous thing for her kind to associate with. Too often were they thought to be witches as their tricks were seen as magic. Why get into deeper trouble by being around a lioness who really knew such things?
"She sounds... enchanting... dangerous though." She mused, almost to herself. "Perhaps it is fate. Have you considered that?"

Balthier scowled a little, having though the same thing already. "I've thought of the idea but quickly I dismissed it. How could fate work across worlds? I had thought my fate lie in Rabanastre... but apparently not. You are a gypsie, what do you know of fate?" He asked quietly, stealing a glance to her then looking forward again.
Didn't he love Fran? Or was she just his partner? If not Fran then why not Ashe? She was a princess... but could a sky pirate sway a princess? But what did it matter now... neither of them were there with him.

Esmeralda stayed calm though his mood quickly changed. She shrugged. "Perhaps your fate in this would is different from that in another. Perhaps if you ever made it back to your prior form things would go back to the way they were." Her emerald eyes stared straight ahead as she thought. Was this really true? She didn't know. But who did? Her guess was just as good as the next lioness to walk up. And, afterall, it wasn't a crime to share her thoughts.
"I know that a gypsy's fate is unfair, and that fate is cruel to even the kindest and gentlest of hearts, that is what I know of fate." She whispered, hardly audible. Her eyes and shoulders fell slightly and she stared down as they walked, no longer paying attention to where they were walking.

Balthier noticed that his mood had rubbed off on her, "Don't dwell on the thought Esmerelda." He said smoothly, another smirk coming to his mouth. "I am not going to be a depressing companion, I can promise you that." He finished but in his mind he thought other wise.
"But I have told you all of myself... how long have you been here? By the looks of it clothed lions arn't made here..." He said sarcastically as he tried to think of other gypsy lions. "I do believe you are one of a kind, darling." A low purr slipped out as waited for her answer.

"That's good to hear." She smiled up at him, though she could hear an edge of doubt to his voice.
"I've been here for a long while. I came from the streets of another world, much less... complicated than yours. I was thought of as a witch for my cunning tricks and free way of life. Me and my people lived in secret, fearing the penalty of being caught. Death." She sighed. "I don't remember the day I came to these lands, though I remember the relief when I found that Djali was still with me..." she paused as Djali nuzzled her cheek and chuckled when he shot Balthier a glare, "He's a jealous spirit."
"I am indeed one of a kind in these parts. I pray that will not last very long."

"Ah, so I see." He said gently, watching his feet while he slowed his pace. "But Esmerelda, you don't have to go look for others like yourself but find others who will accept you for what you are." He had stopped at this point, watching her, a serious look upon his face. This may have acutally been the most serious he had been in her presence thus far. Keeping the moment for a short while he started walking again.
"Have you met any others beside myself? Anyone you would call a friend?" He wanted to start the small talk again. For some odd reason all this seriousness was making him think of her... of Lulu.

"I..." She stopped as soon as she started, letting his words be repeated in her head. Be accepted for who you are... That had never really seemed like an option before, but it made sense. Why should she spend her lifetime searching for her kind when she could make herself just as happy where she was?
"I've not really met anyone else. I tend to stray away from other beings." She glanced at him from the corner of her eye and was amazed at how easy he made fitting in sound. If it were so easy than why did he seem t have such trouble with it? Maybe that was how he choose to live...

"You met me didn't you?" He said with a teasing tone. "I am not much of a groupis myself." Balthier admitted easily. "But it's a choice. I do find it to be rather hard to try and pillage some town if everyone knows who I am... but then again I have no safe havens because of it either."
Balthier drew his tail closer to him, the flamed tip warming his backside. "I am probably not the best source to be talking to about friendships. I don't think I even had a close friend back in Rabanastre..." Again his memories trailed off to his past life. This is going to take some getting used to.. he thought

"You're different." She smiled at him, nudging his shoulder slightly. "I do suppose that would be rather hard. Though I've never pillaged a town before." She blinked once and shook her head. "You'll always be at least partially safe in my company."
She turned and watched it for a moment. "Well I believe we've both formed a friendship just now, haven't we? Or an odd sort of friendly acquaintance."

"That's a comforting thought." He said with a smirk as he imagined himself pillaging a pride then running and hiding behind Esmerelda's skirts like a child. It actually made him chuckle lightly.
"Hmm... I suppose you could say we have a friendly acquaintance... I sure wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of a gypsy. Call me superstitious if you must... but why would I want to be on the wrong side of someone who could porobaly steal as well as I can?" He snickered a little at his comment. "I do wonder if that other lioness I met would consider me a friendly acquaintane or just a thorn in her rear?" Ahh Lulu...
